So far it is close battle numbers wise for these two. Urlacher has 34 tackles and 4 sacks while Lewis has 36 tackles and 1 sack. The reason i make this arguement is because the media always tries to depict Urlacher as an over rated player. They also tried to make it seem as though Lewis is the greatest defensive player in the NFL. So why is the most over rated player putting up better number then the best defesive player.

I was also going to compare Urlacher to Lavar Arrington; who two years ago was being caled the best linebacker in the NFL, but he is no longer a starter on the Redskins.

To be more fair, you'd have to go back and compare Urlacher to Ray Lewis at the same point in his career. I've heard many announcers say that Lewis has lost a step and isn't the linebacker he used to be, but that he is still one of the great ones.

Another factor that would have to be taken into consideration is the overall quality of the entire defensive unit during the respective periods being compared. The Ravens defense at that time was and is heralded as one of the greatest of all time; the Bear's defensive unit will never come that close.

In addition, the Ravens schemed their defense specifically to cut Lewis loose on the opposing offense. He was allowed to "roam" and make plays, as opposed to defending a specific area or player. I had read that the Bears wanted to initiate the same type of scheme for Urhlacher, but they don't have the players on defense to make it happen.

Regardless, no matter how good Urlacher turns out to be, he will never be better than Ray Lewis in the eyes of the PC media.

Another thing to take into consideration is the fact that Ray lewis was involved in a murder. I am sure that helps increase his intimidation factor.

TSN made Brian Urlacher the most overrated player in the NFL last year.

Zach Thomas is my favorite MLB in the NFL. He is only 5'10 and stills kicks butt every Sunday. Tackling the likes of Curtis Martin and Corey Dillon like its nothing.

Urlacher has 4 sacks in 4 games so far this year. Ray hasn't ever had a
4 sack season in his entire career, which is normal for a middle
linebacker.

The only weakness that Brian has shown in his career is his
trouble fighting through blocks from linemen, which is due to him
spending his time in college as a safety. That is changing over time,
however, and he is just coming into his prime.

Urlacher had 2 sacks today, but I didn't watch the entire game, too boring!

Also, the Bears play the Ravens this Sunday.

Urlacher leads all linebackers with 6 sacks. He also caused one of Duante's interceptions by having excellent coverage on WR deep down the middle.
