Geez Roy Nelson is going to destroy Struve. Struve has decent all around skills, but he's 6'11 with barely any power. This should be an easy win for Big Country.

I have a buddy who's 6'11 who's about 285 and he doesn't look "huge"...just solid. I think Struve holds about 238-245...which is too lanky for a 6'11 frame (unless you're playing hoops). When I was 250 (at 6'8), I looked a tad lanky too (despite my XL frame). Struve needs to beef up to 260+ & continue polishing his striking, BJJ & wrestling. I predict Nelson by TKO (rd 2).

I hear BJ might not be long for 155 so Florian could get another title shot if he beats the very tough Gomi. I imagine if Penn goes up to 170 we will see the winner of Florian-Gomi versus Grey Maynard and whoever he fights next (maybe Sotoropoulous). Either way, it looks like whites will have anotehr belt by the end of 2010 (though I don't see Edgar beating Penn).

LL, I hear-tell GSP may move up to MW to challenge Silva. I guess BJ would backfill GSP in the WW division. I hope Edgar wins too, but I suspect Penn wipes the mat with him.

if GSP moves up i hope anderson silva will have already moved up to LHW so they dont fight. Silva is just a terrible matchup for GSP IMO.

NC831, I hear ya. Anderson's striking is better & he has solid BJJ (to counter GSP's wrestling/G&P). Silva supposedly walks around at 205-215 anyways so 205 should be a natural division for him. At 205, I don't see him getting past Lyoto & would love to see that fight (Lyoto's allusive, Karate style vs. Silva's MTKB).

Been looking forward to tonight for several days now. UFC fight night featuring one of my favorite fighters in Kenny Florian plus I kinda want to see the "fat man" Roy Nelson continue to do well. I also am always intrigued by Japanese fighters and there are two good ones on the card tonight with Gomi and Uno.

Okami defeated Linhares via TKO (Doctor stoppage) at 2:47 of round 2.

* Lightweight bout: Caol Uno vs. Gleison Tibau

Tibau defeated Uno via TKO (Punches) at 4:13 of round 1.

Lentz defeated Emerson via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28).

* Lightweight bout: Andre Winner vs. Rafaello Oliveira

Winner defeated Oliveira via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27).

Main Card

* Middleweight bout: United States Nate Quarry vs. United States Jorge Rivera = Rivera by TKO.

* Heavyweight bout: Roy Nelson vs Stefan Struve = Nelson by TKO (R1).

* Lightweight bout: Kenny Florian vs Takanori Gomi = KenFlo by sub (RNC) in R3.

***My "half-cent" worth...
- Pearson is very allusive in his defense (ala Machida) & looked solid on his striking.
- Quarry thinks too highly of his stand-up & has a questionable chin (as proven by Franklin, and Rivera (tonight)). He should have immediately shot for the takedown at the beginning of R2 (as he nearly got TKO'd in R1). FYI, Rivera isn't anywhere close to a title contender (he has sub losses to Lee Murray, Rich Franklin & Martin Kampmann...and TKO/KO losses to Terry Martin, Branden Lee Hinkle, Chris Leben & Anderson Silva).
- The over-the-cage lighting went out beofr Nelson/Struve fight, so Spike showed Tibau vs. Uno.
- Struve has an 11" height/10" reach advantage on "Big Country".
- Nelson has heavy hands & solid BJJ. I'd like to see him get a shot at JDS, Nog or Mir next. *Nelson (jokingly) said he'd like James Toney next. I think he'd tear thru "YOney" easily.
- KenFlo's jabs were really quick & crisp. His BJJ is top notch (as usual). One more victory & he should be back in line for a title shot (again).

Good call Hawkeye. I'd give Nelson the edge on BJJ, & would love to see beer-belly'd "Big Country" KO caste-favorite, "buff", afrolete Kongo!

nelson kongo would be a terrible fight to watch. i dont think kongo would make it out of the first round to be honest with you. if he doesnt get dropped with a right he will get taken down and subbed very quickly. but it would be hilarious to see roy beat a big buff black guy with EASE and see him rub his belly afterwords.

NorCal831, "Big Country's" domination of caste-pushed Kongo is precisely what would make it a great fight...for the WN/anti-caste cause!
