Cook lost his title via 4th round KO. He started well I thought he won the first 3 rounds until he was caught by a good shot.

Same thing that happened to Cook happened to Mac

Enzo was dominating the fight until he was caught by a lucky shot in the 9th.

On a positive note, on a Birmingham, UK boxing card, Matthew Macklin knocked out his black opponent Wayne Elc ock in the third round today, to win the British middleweight title!

Also on that card, age 20 heavyweight Tyson Fury won another stoppage. He improved his record to 4-0 when his opponent's corner stopped the fight after four of a scheduled six rounds.

I feel sorry for Enzo. That being said he has been overrated. He lost to an absolute bum yesterday. This guy he fought was an absolute joke. This should have been an easy win for Enzo and a chance to get his title back.

I agree Enzo has been overrated - the truth is, he really isn't that good.

But to make it worse, Enzo wasn't in top shape and didn't fight intelligently yesterday. According to the Setanta website, he hadn't sparred a single round in preparation for this fight.

And you're right, Afolabi isn't very good either. I think the winner of Ramirez-Ismailov will have little trouble defeating him.

What's amusing is that the wiggers on ESB and boxingscene are suddenly now nuthugging Afolabi - one fool even compared him to Muhammed Ali!

He has talent, but he doesn't have a great chin and that will always be a problem for him. Better trainer, better training, better sparring. That would help. It's like I always say, these White fighters are too loyal for their own good. He's gone as far as he can with Enzo Calzaghe and it's time to move on.

Enzo should just retire right now. I wish him well for the future but this is one white fighter who just doesn't have the skills. His chin is just too fragile.

Enzo Maccarinelli was stopped in the third round by undefeated Russian Denis Lebedev today.

Lebedev goes to 18-0. Maccarinelli will likely retire after suffering his fourth KO loss.

David Haye's resume takes another hit.

Enzo should pack it in and retire before he gets seriously hurt. Edited by: Blue Devils

He should've taken a soft touch after his last KO. Fighting a hard-hitting, undefeated southpaw after a brutal KO was not exactly a wise decision, at least for Macca. Warren promotes Macca and Lebedev, so the fight was a win-win for him. If he wants to continue his career, he and his team need to be a lot smarter. Obviously he doesn't have a great chin, but not everybody does. Look at Khan. He got blown out worse than Macca. He was staggered by a jab, and against a fighter who recently lost. Now he's a world champion. If he was handled as badly as Macca has been, he probably would've been KO'd a couple more times by now as well. Macca needs to do everything perfectly in order to have any chance at being a champ again. Great training, great sparring, and at least two fights to prepare for a big fight. But it may be too late for that.

I missed this. But I'm not surprised at all. Guys with long, thin necks rarely have great chins. The head snaps back easier as it is not as well braced. Guys with huge deltoids often can take quite a pounding.

Very good post by JD074, and very true. Macc. is completely lost at the moment. The difference between Khan and Macc. is Khan's handlers didn't let the confidence get destroyed. I'm sure Macc.'s confidence is ruined forever now.

I was a little shocked to see this myself but Enzo is still fighting. He defeated Krisztian Jaksi by TKO in round 1 on Dec 5. I would like to see Enzo retire at this point as he looks done to me.

Weights: Maccarinelli 197.8 Kotlobay 193

This is a winnable fight for Enzo. Kotlobay isn't as skilled as the other top Russian cruiserweights like Alexeev,Drozd,Lebedev,Brudov and Tokarev.

I wish Enzo would just hang it up. I don't think he has anything left in the tank. I see Enzo losing by a KO just like in his past several fights.
