I was bummed when Freshman Forward Matthew Mors transferred from Wisconsin. As soon as he stated he was home sick, figured he was headed back to South Dakota. I was right! He's headed to South Dakota State. He's 6'7 230 and I'm hoping we get to see him on the court next to Baylor Scheierman. Scheierman entered The Draft, but has kept his college eligibility if he doesn't get selected. Good news for Jackrabbits!

Jay Wright retires as Villanova head coach at the relatively young age of 61 after 21 years in the role and two national championships. Wright is universally thought of as a friendly, magnanimous coach who won "the right way" (by not paying one-and-done recruits and identifying four-year contributors).

I've said it before: it's exceptional that a power coach, let alone an elite program, recruits a succession of white (American) point guards. Wright won the 2016 National Championship with Ryan Arcidiacono, then took a shot on local prospect Collin Gillespie a year later. With Gillespie's graduation, Ryan's younger brother Chris is scheduled to start next season, and Angelo Brizzi will back him up after redshirting this year. Wright also coached up shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo to an early entry in the NBA draft after winning the 2018 championship with him.

The Wildcats immediately announced a black former assistant, who left a year prior for a small school head coaching gig, will return and replace Wright. This coach was a player at Lehigh (in the relatively white-friendly Patriot League) and served under Wright for years. That aside, I'm skeptical that he will keep up the momentum of caste-breaking white point guards. I wouldn't be shocked if Brizzi eventually transfers elsewhere.

The media cites Wright's alleged disenchantment with the NIL recruiting landscape and transfer free-for-all. Whether or not you agree with the intrinsic fairness of NIL, the fast-evolving dynamic is to pay black players, who are assumed to be poor and therefore exploited, who also suffer from racism. A young black coach is an archetype cog for this system, which is gaining steam and obviously moving away from the actual game of basketball.

Within a couple years, Villanova will revert to an average program. Jay Wright will resurface anywhere he wants, including the NBA.

Christian Braun is forgoing his last year of eligibility at Kansas to enter the NBA draft. I haven't seen him mocked anywhere, but one of ESPN's recent prospect boards ranked him at #30. Like just about every white player, he will face an uphill battle to earn minutes. Hopefully, he finds the right situation.

Hunter Dickinson is returning to Michigan for his junior year. Despite adding a bit of range to his shooting game, he really didn't generate any NBA buzz during the Wolverines' mediocre regular season. He could, perhaps should, be an All-American candidate next year.

Good choice for Braun. He'll test great and has great size for a SG. I believe he'll be a riser when it is all said and done. I'll predict Mid 1st-late 1st after his combine.

Former BYU starter Caleb Lohner, a 6'8 PF, is transferring to Baylor. The Bears' Matthew Mayer is currently testing the draft waters but could return. If he does, Baylor could find themselves with two white starters next season.

Solid choice for Lohner! Really good athlete at PF.

Best of wishes to Nova's Jay Wright! Actually seemed like a class act and was no doubt a HOF coach.

I'm friggin bummed skilled SF Patrick Cartier from Hillsdale College(D2) has chosen Colorado State for his final 2 seasons. Was hoping the D2 All American and Wisconsin native would wind up in Madison. Once again under Gard, The Badgers are struggling just to field a team.

i’d actually prefer Braun return to Kansas for another year. he’d be the undisputed leader of the team and get the chance to showcase his all around game without having to play second fiddle to a volume scorer who (undeservedly in my opinion and according to the stat sheet) gets all the headlines. additionally, Kansas has another young White talent that should be an integral part of the team next season which would make for some nice high profile imagery to battle the Caste System.

it’ll be interesting to see how Lohner does at Baylor. he’s an agile, pretty athletic but undersized power forward who had a terrific freshman year before struggling mightily with his shot this past season. i wish him the best.

Ohio's PF Ben Vander Plas is transferring to Virginia. 6'8 230. Good all around game and passer from the post.

He chose Creighton! Still going through NBA Draft process though.

Great choice! He’s a sure fire starter now for a top ten team. I don’t know Creighton’s depth chart offhand, but they always roster at least a few whities. Good team to keep an eye on now!

Early projection has him and Kalkenbrenner as starters!

I'll be keeping an eye on wherever Mayer winds up! Talented wing prospect. I'd actually like him to choose somewhere that will let him be the man. Take on more of a scoring role!

We’ll get those turnovers under control
that’s terrific! they’re certainly his Achilles’ heel.

i wonder why he’s transferring, though. he appeared poised to run the show again next season for a young team that’ll really want to run ...

I was thinking the same. He seemed in line to make a big jump running the show for Arizona. Be interesting to see where he ends up!

@Phall mentioned NotrenDame hiring Mike Shrewsbury in the season thread.. Of course the media is in love with this hire, lol. We are all stunned.

The media complex for college basketball is less full than that for the NFL (obviously). Literally, the day after the Matt Painter "can he ever really SUCCEED" editorials spun out following Purdue's loss, another wave of jack-offs talk up his resume on behalf of his "UP AND COMING" former assistant.

I think that it stands to reason that college basketball will rarely have powerhouses again and certainly not dynasties. It's just too individualistic at this point. Maybe Kentucky can offer its third-best recruit $2 million up front... Arizona State, Oklahoma, Florida, Oregon, and 20 other schools can offer that guy $3+ million to be "the man" there. Otherwise, you now get a free transfer to a bigger bidder the very next offseason. Wow, hope those collegiate credits transfer to the next school!

Some athletic departments have, uh, "attitudes" that are reflective of their brass. I suspect Notre Dame is one of these. The basketball team at their school is a very distant sport of importance, so therefore a ripe candidate to get a check-box coach with a respectable floor.
