I saw the weigh-in. Kov looks like Kov. Canelo still ripped at 175 lbs.! Not getting that. As I said, if Kov just keeps it at distance and not get tired, its in the bag. When was the last time that Canelo KO'd someone? Almost 3 years ago against 147 lbs, China chinned Khan. This fight is indeed intriguing.

First off Kovalev struggled to make weight for the weight in. Alvarez made it easy and it eating and juicing with best of them. Other than the height, Canelo looks as strong or even stronger. Just being honest and he is only 29. I'm rooting all out for Kovalev especially after Triple GGG got screwed over in both fights. At the end of the day though Canelo is a 5 to 1 favorite at many places and 4 to 1 at the worst. That is a heavy favorite and the judges are in his back pocket as Delahoya makes sure of that. Only chance Kov has honestly is to knock him out. Any decison will go to Canelo 100%. I sure hope I'm wrong but Iv'e seen it to many times in this crooked sport that I love.

If I'm Kovalev I'm burning inside. The Mexicans's willingness to fight him is an insult to Kovalev's career and legacy. A blown up junior middleweight thinks he can be me? I'm going to spear him my jab till he's begging for a right. He's messing with the big boys. The magnitude of the diss is just now dawning on me and I'm pissed.

Canelo five to one favorite. Really? If I'm Kovalev I can't wait to get into the ring.

Big paydays can sooth a lot of insults. LOL

Kov will need a knockout just to get a draw against Alvarez in that town.
Yes, this could be another reason why Alvarez is anywhere from a 4 to 1 to 5 to favorite. Las Vegas is now PEDnelo town, I wouldn't be shocked to see a draw if Kovalev dominated Alvarez by boxing on the outside or even if he scored a few knockdowns. Anything close and Alvarez will get the decision.

I have a feeling the fix is in. Kovalev is getting 12 million for this fight. I am sure that is by far his biggest pay day. For Canelo to go up in weight and fight a still dangerous Kovalev is unheard of. If it goes to the cards expect Canelo to get the decision.

Let's send positive vibes out to Vegas tonight. Kovalev may be a huge underdog but don't count him out? He is a warrior! Come on Krusher Kovalev! :)

Less than a year ago, Rocky Fielding was stopped in 3, he went down once in rounds one and two and twice in round three. Liam Smith was down several times and KOed in the fight after Khan. Alvarez definitely has power.

Alvarez will likely be on PEDs, and of course the officials will do everything they can to help him win.

This fight won't start until 1am EST, because of the UFC, so I have been subjected the preview on a loop, seeing fat Oscar talking up PEDnelo had me thinking that I also thought cocaine made you skinny, not in his case. What dress size is he now?

Idiot commentators, I think Max Kellerman, talking about how Kovalev doesn't know how to respond when hurt do not mention below the belt shots Ward was landing of course.

Max Kellerman never saw a white fighter he liked ever. He is disgusting. Mute his ass!

Pretty lame fight so far. Kovalev needs to put some power into some of these punches.

I'd say he's winning but it's a gamble to leave it to the Judges.

British Stream I'm watching had Krusher up 5-3 at end of RD 8 for what it's worth.

Well put a fork in Kovalev. Just got KOD. He had a good run.

Not related but was skimming through first page of this thread and Westsides post regarding Sergei Kobozev. Crazy story.

Kovalev seemed to hit the wall similar to an athlete dying at Heartbreak Hill while running the Boston Marathon. He literally deflated rapidly as he looked like was clock watching in the middle of the 11th and then was staggered badly in short order and then finished with one shot.

I really didn't see enough body work to set up that kind of end, Kovalev mentioned the quick turnaround as a culprit, also the PED bogeyman could be a factor too. Kovalev could retire with his end of a low 8 figure purse for this fight. There is no point getting walked down again by a naturally larger light heavyweight and counting sheep for 1/10th the money.

As for PEDnelo there was talk of him challenging a cruiserweight champion, it would have to be a blown up light heavyweight who was as old as Kovalev or he wouldn't be able to do this no matter what what PED protocol he was on.

It would be fun seeing him looking like Ro(id)y Jones when he fought Ruiz though.....

PS, as we suspected Kovalev would have needed a gun to win this knife fight as Alavarez was level on one card and up by 2 points on two other cards on a fight where it was hard to give him more than 3 rounds heading into the fateful 11th round.

Post fight Kovalev was talking about continuing on with his career. I'm thinking he was a bit chinny all along. Once his offense faded a bit from age he was vulnerable. If he wants to lose more brain cells as a gatekeeper that's up to him.

I saw the fight live. I had Kov winning up until he was Ko'd. Either Canelo has stupid stamina or roids. I have to look at the replay tmrw to give a full account.

Kovalev has looked like a guy that needs to hang it up for a while to me. He was never the same after the ward fights unfortunately. I'm not a fan of Canelo and never have been. I look forward to seeing someone put him flat on his back, as unlikely as that may be.

I was watching all the expert predictions leading up to the fight. In one of them Freddie Roach said Kovalev is a shot fighter. I guess he was right.:(

Oh well, at least Kovalev got a big pay day. I hope he retires. I hope Canelo takes on Beterbiev.

Here's the KO

I think Westside is right, Canelo is probably on steroids.

I wish he's fight more black boxers (Eubank, Dirrell, etc) instead of mostly white guys.

I agree, he’s absolutely on steroids in my opinion. At this point they ought to just open it up and allow athletes to take whatever they want at their own risk because sports will never be fair the way they are now. But we also have to remember that drug testing is a convenient way for the powers at hand to manipulate sports. I mean, for God’s sake the entire NFL is on anabolics yet only certain individuals get busted for it.

I am pretty confident that Canelo is on steroids. Just read that he refused VADA testing for this fight. And no one gave a crap. Kovalev nor his team objected. They wanted to get paid. Canelo is boxing's cash cow for the next few years. What he demands he gets. Yeah, Canelo is on steroids. If GGG is smart. HE will demand VADA testing in their 3rd fight. Or he will end up like Kov last night, draped over ring ropes.

Yes, what really stood out was how big and strong Canelo looked. How does a person get that big that fast?? He was all muscle at 160, then in a matter of months, he became all muscle at 175.

If Kovalev's stamina gave out in the 11th round, this shows that this fight was too soon after the Yarde fight. His camp should have insisted the fight be in December instead of November, to give him more time to recover. The lure of $12 million was evidently too much to resist, and he got suckered into the early date.

Canelo of course is going to pay the price medically down the road for his steroid use.
