UFC 226: Miocic vs Cormier

I am expecting and hoping for Miocic to handle Cormier this Saturday. Cormier's chin was exposed in the Jones fight and I think age is catching him. Miocic is just a monster and the most complete heavyweight there is. It seems that the UFC wants Cormier to win, but whatever. Didn't seem like there was much else to root for on the card. A Turkish fighter vs an afflete and Ortega, who's a white mexican, vs Holloway for the 145 title. I won't be watching this card, but I'll be checking for updates Saturday night.

If Stipe can keep it standing, he’ll knock DC’s lights out. However, Miocic will be in trouble if Cormier can keep it on the mat.

Let's go Stipe! I concur with Dixie's prediction, he keeps it standing he wins.

Unfortunate that they had to scrap The Holloway V Ortega fight. Holloway pulls out of another fight.

I think Miocic can handle Cormiers wrestling, I think the only way Miocic loses if the fight is fixed....

I think Stipe will contain Daniel for rounds one and two. After that, Daniel's take down attempts will become weaker and Stipe will start nailing him with short range punches and knock him out. Daniel has a ground a pound chance in rounds 1 and 2. If he could get a great take down and get on top, he could have a chance. I don't see it happening though. Stipe is smart, always gives great angles and comes in with excellent game plans. And his conditioning is second to none.

He poked him in the eye like 5 times, many warnings and never took a point. Stipe should have taken his time to recover.

Damn, what a disappointment. Now we have to see Jon Jones come back and fight Cormier at heavyweight. I hope Cormier wins.

And now DC calls out Lesnar who storms into the ring and shoves DC. ******** it's official, UFC has gone WWE. After that snooze of a fight between Ngannou and Lewis wouldn't be surprised if Dana "Sellout" White greased a few pockets to save this ******** card. Stipe did get caught clean though, idk I'm just pissed!

wonder how much Miocic got to get ko'd so UFC could have a black champ and fight Lesnar? too fishy for me.....

Something isn't right about all this. Miocic was supposed to lose to Ngannou and worked him over. Then Cormier, who is almost 40 years old, moves up from light heavyweight and somehow gets a heavyweight title shot and KO's Miocic. Perhaps this is all legit, but something just doesn't seem right. As I said above, the UFC clearly wanted Cormier to win this fight.

I think he didn't respect Cormier's power. When he fought the African PED beast he fought a cautious and strategic fight and never sat in the pocket. Against Cormier he was anchored inside. Maybe he was stunned early and had no legs to move around.

The last two fights were a total let down as the semifinal was probably the worst fight I have ever seen and the main event wad devoid of drama and we have another heavyweight champion with a boiler....

Stipe got caught, no excuses...remember he got knocked out by Stefan Struve, his chin was always a little suspect...he thought his height and reach would handle Cormier and let his guard down...Stipe will be back....Amazingly only Gusstafson gave Cormier and Jones the fight of their lives.

He did indeed. Stipe royally screwed up trying to clinch with DC, and as WIR put it I don't think he fully respected DCs power.

Well they say all good things must come to an end. Stipe's 3 title defenses at Heavyweight was an impressive accomplishment.

It was a pure D shame that Stipe was KO’d. However, he was previously KO’d by Struve (as Elispeedster mentioned) & dropped to the mat with a punch from Overeem (...before finishing the boy). I’d love to see Brock whip DC but age & divirticulitis have taken a big toll on “The Beast”. I hate to admit it, but DC will likely KO or TKO Lesnar. :(

Just looking at it, it appears Stipe took a dive so Dana White could set up a match with DC and Lesnar who just happened to be at ring side. Lesnar is shot and being used to lined White's pocket for a big pay day.
