I still can't believe how far Christophe has regressed. It's not too late yet but the time is drawing near. He needs a new coach and trainers. I will add one thing very few have touched on here. Many sprinters don't believe they are the best. The mental aspect of sprinting isn't discussed much. Matt Shirvington used to talk about it alot. He even was seeing a dr to help him to be even more confident. The power of the mind is amazing. You have to visualize doing things before you can. Christophe had the confidence a few years ago but he now seems very unsure. I hope he can get some fast times in races soon to regain his confidence.

He still is one of the top 10 sprinters on earth. I hope somehow, someway he can get back to form. One bad race or season means nothing if he can erase that from his memory. Go out there and start winning again. It's easier said than done but I hope he can stay positive. He has to get his confidence back or else his career will be mediocre at best in his prime years.

I agree about the mental aspect and the power of the mind...I remember a few years back in 2012, Lemaitre's genius coach stated that Lemaitre should not worry about Bolt etc, that he should strive for bronze, for bronze! Guess what happened, he finished 5th. What coach will tell their student to strive for third? Thats mind boggling! OF course he is destined to fail if someone tells him that he could never beat Bolt etc....This Coach he has is an old Fossil with old fossil ways of thinking and that RCSMAN idiot will defend that loser only because he is French. 4 years and counting of regression!

Lematire is a victim of a clueless coach, and family and friends who want him to stay in France. They would rather Lemaitre fail under their watch, then to have him succeed under the watch of others. Its a shame, because this kid has/had as much natural talent as the best sprinters ever in the history of sprinting.

[h=2]Carraz : « The goal is not to run fast now »[/h] June 3, 2015 at 7 h 43 min

Last week, Christophe Lemaitre has worked twice as hard. “After his 100 m in Tourcoing, with some technical problems, we have decided to work again the basisâ€￾, explains Pierre Carraz, his coach.
A full range of technical exercises during six days, before a 200 m in the Diamond League meeting in Rome on Thursday and a 100 m in Marseille on Saturday. “He will probably be tired in Romeâ€￾, says Carraz, despite two days off before the race. “I think these two meetings arrive too early. However, Christophe could run in 20’’20 in Rome. But the goal is not to run fast now, but at the end of August in Bejing, during the World championships.â€￾
The level on this beginning of the season is very impressive, Pierre Carraz admits that. “It already needed to race in 10’’00 in Moscow-2013 to be qualified for the final. Now, the best performances worry me. But during big championships, one or two guys always fail.â€￾
Concerning Christophe Lemaitre, Carraz has noted his good start during his 100 m in Tourcoing. “It’s encouragingâ€￾. On the 200 m, the coach insists: “He will be strong this summer.â€￾
“But now, we have to work hard, again and again, even this means sacrificing perhaps the next competitions.â€￾

Why the hell would an 8year old be doing that Much weight? Get burned out before he hits puberty!

Well now Lemaitre is neither the fastest 100 or 200m man in Europe.
Got by by a full 2/10s of a second by the Greek.
Well, at least we have another guy coming up to the elite level: Lykourgos-Stefanos Tsakonas

Its called sarcasm. But my nephew is strong, probably strong as Lemaitre, sad to say.

Leamiatre is no more and done...a race with none of the top competitors this year in his supposed strong event. Keep staying with Carraz, as he is a Master! HA!

Lemaitre 2nd in 20.28 the Greek guy ran 20.09!!!!

Lemaitre was done for the 100 2 years ago, and now the 200 is done...all due to Idiotic Training and a Brainless coach. Strive for third Lemaitre, 3rd place!

Whoever this Greek guy is, you got a new fan!

Cpngrats to Vicaut and his 9.98, soon to be New French and European record holder in the 100

Gatlin is one giant walking syringe.

RCSMAN...I know I know...Christophe make much progress in training...his legs re tired after running 3 races in 2 months. You will see! Carraz knows all!

Here's the race.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wczmMYPbbrQ

Lemaitre was in the lane next to the Greek, but couldn't catch him.
I'll have to listen to it again, but I heard the announcer say, 'un gross deception pour Christophe Lemaitre".
Not sure, but I think that means, a big disappointment.

Thanks for the video. To be honest his legs did look dead. He was overstriding. Regardless, this is happening most of the time now. Poor conditioning and improper mechanics. You have to start at the top. This coach year after year does not have him ready to compete with the best in the world. I'm sure he will get faster as the summer moves on but I doubt it will be enough to medal at the world champs in either event. I hope i'm wrong but the writing is on the wall.

Christophe is 24. Time is his enemy now. It's pretty much getting just about to the point of now or never. What a damn shame. He is a genetic freak of nature that could have shattered so many records.

His 9.92 and 19.80 are both incredible achievements but he is capable of so much more. We all know that and that is why it's so hard to watch this kid run pedestrian times. Hope he can do a little better on saturday over 100 if he still decides to run.

Lemaitre came in 4th today in 10.30, yes the wind was -2.4m but Lemaitre gave his usual excuse, legs tired etc...reading through a french website, everyone seems to agree - He needs to leave Caraz, Aix-Les bains, and France in general and start a new approach.

Dude, please give it a rest. You've let your argument with whats-his-name get the best of you. It's gotten to where you take some perverse pleasure from highlighting LeMaitre's disappointments, as if they somehow prove your point. They prove nothing. We have no idea if he would be faster under another coach. It's impossible to prove one way or another.

At this stage, all we know is that he was much faster when he was a lanky kind bouncing down the track. He's filled out since then, gained some muscle, and lost quite a lot of speed. I must say, though, I don't understand why Carraz chose for him to sacrifice these three consecutive meets in order to get in shape for championships more than a month away. Christophe is a professional athlete. His job is to try to win every race he's in, not train through them all.

Anyway, disappointing, even with the strong wind and tired legs. Hopefully, he turns things around soon.

Anyone have a video?

Thanks for posting the video, but I'd warn everyone not to watch it on a full stomach. I've never actually seen a sprinter start like that before. He didn't push off at all. He simply pulled his right leg out and stepped forward. It was bizarre. He did look like he was running with tired legs as well.

C'mon, Christophe! You can do better!

Lol...he always runs with tired legs, what does that tell you? He has a ****ty coach, trainers, managers and environment. Nothing more, nothing less...I mean after 4 years of constant regression, you think he'd get a clue?

Lemaitre's list to do, to improve:

1. Leave France to train in a Warm and 'Humid' climate for 1 full year. This kind of weather taxes the body, keeps the muscles loose. Loose muscles less prone to injury and are able to work fully and contract fully, which creates muscle memory and carries over.... Cold weather inhibits and conditions the muscle to not fully contract at its full potential and can cause injury. South Florida perfect environment for training.

2. Get rid of that Old Fossil Coach who is nothing but a negative influence. This coach tells his pupil to strive for third place, that he cant beat the best, and hopes other competitors drop out of races to make Lemaitre easier to place...what a old doosh this Carraz is/

3. Stay away from Countrymen like RCSMAN whose only concern is for Lemaitre to stay in French hands. Does not care if he fails as long as he stays in France. Pathetic weasel.

Im Done....

Hate to say it ...... but I'm not sure he could mentally adjust to the lifestyle change. Seems content in his own little safe world around Aix-Les-Bains - otherwise he could easily train with Jimmy who IS improving and has overtaken him

People are saying time is his enemy etc, but i am not so sure. Lets have some positivity. Take Gatlin for example(yes i know hes on peds but lets be honest, who isnt), but hes 33 and running best times ever. in fact alot of the guys are around 30 in the top ten anyhow.

And even if he doesnt fulfil his potential, at least he was the guy that broke the ten second barrier. That has definitely been a massive break through in he caste system.

He can do it next year if he leaves that pathetic old fossil of a coach and that amateur track club. Its up to Lemaitre if he wants to succeed and become one of the greats, or just a has been whose name will be quickly forgotten.

No, Lemaitre is not capable of so much more, you are being very optimistic.
We should to be realistic.

In all his life Lemaitre is not capable sub10 with few wind, it is the truth.
In 200 when he is in big shape he can to be around 20.0 or sub20.

Lemaitre should to be at top, with around 10.00 or sub10 with big wind or sub20 in 200.

To talk about sub 9.9 or sub 19.8 is a joke.

I disagree with you.
Christophe started athlectics at the age of 15.
After only four years of training (at the age of 19) he ran 10,04 (+0,2 Novi Sad).
Now, he will be glad to run 10,04. That's a poor developement.

I was very optimistic after the World Relays, but now I'm wondering if I put too much stock in those, given that legs can't be accurately timed.

Assuming the relays were misleading then I think we all have to swallow hard and admit to a painful reality: Christophe was fastest as a lanky teenager. Since that time he's gotten much slower, not because of coaching (which hasn't changed)(and besides which, he's tried everything) but because the changes to his body made him slower. When he started filling out, he filled out in the wrong places, such as the calves. Physical maturity doesn't always help.

But I still think we can celebrate Christophe historically, and not just for breaking the 10-second barrier. I honestly believe his 9.92 may be the fastest non-Peds time ever run. 19.80 may be the fastest time run without peds or altitude (Mennea's best time was at altitude).

Looking back at Olympic finals, even in the darkest days of the steroid era, typically only one (heavily drugged) runner would dip (barely) under 10. The rest were running the sort of times that Christophe runs. It's only recently that it's become standard to go sub-10, and I don't trust the people doing it.

Oh, and on another topic, Kilty won't be next. Teeters will. He's been much closer than Kilty consistently.
