I want to congratulate Richard Kilty. He won the gold medal to be the 2014 world indoors champion over 60 meters. This kid is headed to a sub 10. He ran 10.10 last year with no wind so it's only a matter of time. Kilty is as explosive as they come. What a performance. Here is the video of his gold medal winning race.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK92pR4hQG0
Richard Kilty is world 60M sprint champion! He beat everyone else in the world. THAT AFTER NOT EVEN BEING SELECTED FOR THE BRITISH TEAM. (He was called up because of an injury to James Dasaolu)Just shows what some people can accomplish when given a chance!

I'll be the first white Brit to go under 10 seconds! Kilty wants to break records after stunning 60m indoor gold in Poland

It appears from the article that Kilty has been seriously abused by the system because of skin color. His omission from the British team at the last Olympics was because of some other guy deciding he didn't want to run for whatever "brown" country he was from and used his phony "British" citizenship to take a spot from Kilty. He may be the only actual British person on the British team.

It also seems as if he comes from a working class background and has a lot of anger that he can channel into his sport. I have always felt that is what gave blacks an advantage in the US, anger at the system being a huge motivator to succeed in whatever ones sport is.

Pampered White guys on the other hand often don't seem to have that natural anger that comes from being poor. You see it in East Euros who compete in boxing and basketball with the same inner rage that used to possess black ghetto americans. Now with the tables turning and our white homelands turning into broken examples of the new world order I expect to see a rise in successful White athletes in areas like track, as is happening in boxing.

Just watched a YouTube clip of the 60m final from the BBC and the commentator (looked like Paula Radcliffe) said he didn't have a natural talent but only a talent for bringing his best on the day. This is the way these people are rationalizing Kilty's win.

That's what they said about Wells back in the day. That is a talent it's having heart and a steel will, if that wasn't part of championship racing Asafa Powell would be an Olympic champion and have won multiple world titles.

Here's an insightful and thorough article on 60m World Champ, Richard Kilty:
http://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...e-tornado-sprinting-60m-world-indoor-champion

I was particularly interested to hear that he ran the last 30m of his 60m race faster than anyone else, including Nesta Carter. That bodes well for his 100m races this season.
He's been through some tough times, and that has made him mentally tough. That's a huge advantage he has over Lemaitre, who probably has more physical talent, but who I believe is mentally weak.

Thanks for posting that great article. The kid went to hell and back. It made him stronger and like you said, you cannot underestimate the power of confidence. I wish the Lemaitre could be analysed by his coach's and trainers to fix his start. I'm still so proud of Kilty. What a great kid. Again to morons like Jon Entine, anyone can sprint with good genetics and very hard work. The sprinter from China was very close to a medal to. Great to see.

Awesome article and I agree with your sentiments 100%. Kilty is a working class product, which gives him mental toughness beyond the majority of other white affluent European sprints. Honestly this is the type of mindset required to engage such a stereotypical sport where people instantly disregard your athleticism based upon skin color alone. An individual with Kilty's mental status and physical strength coupled with Lemaitre's raw talent would knock down world records.

Allan Wells was a genuine tough guy. He was a trade apprentice when he got into club athletics and lingered on that level for years until he gave sprinting a try(he was a domestic level long jumper). I think having a hard life growing up and never given anything makes an athlete tough just look at most championship level boxers.

Kilty won the Great City Games today. He beat Mike Rogers and others in a high quality field over 150 meters. This is a great way to end the season on a high note. Rogers is a sub 10 guy and he runs them like a jog in the park. So Kilty showed great speed and endurance. Kilty has a few sub 10's in those legs. He just needs to peak in the summer next year instead of indoors. His only good 100 meters outdoors this summer was way back in May. Next summer will be different. You have to live and learn. I'm confident Kilty will be faster than ever next summer. Congrats on a nice win to end the season.

I was having an debate with elite speedster. I guarantee Richard Kilty goes sub 10 and he doubts it. Here is a good article on the subject. Read and enjoy it guys.

I hope he does, I just dont see it...He is a power runner...I think if he is able to maintain his turnover running the corners, his 200 meter times will be very good. He just doesnt have that top end speed to run Sub 10. But what do I know, maybe if h joins Lemaitre and Carraz he can run sub 9 :)

Here's what Richard Kilty has to say about it:
"Richard Kilty, who finished fifth in a personal best of 10.05, promised he would soon be following Gemili in the sub-10 second club. “I’ll break 10 seconds, for sure,†he said. “Once I get my starts like indoors and get my race together, it’s just a matter of time.
“I’m finally finding my feet in the outdoors. I’m not going to rush it. Once I come into a race fresh I can definitely break the sub-10-second barrier.†"

good to see Richard's desire.

I'm no expert in the finer details of getting a sprinter to peak in a different event (e.g. turning a great 60 into a great 100) but I wonder if there is a definite proven plan to achieve the goal or if athletes like Richard run on hope that it will all just work out.
Will training for speed endurance necessarily detract from his 60m strengths where speed endurance plays little part?

My take is the best 100 meter guys almost always have natural gifted top end speed. Kilty is a power sprinter, he relies on power (speed and strength) His top end speed to accelerate midway in the 100 is average at best, and its much harder to develop than start speed or 1st 30 meters which relies more on power. He could hit a high 9.98-9.99 in the best conditions at his peak, but honestly, I don't see him going lower than 10.00
He can make much improvement in the 200 meters if he is able to keep his turnover going, and being he has a low center of gravity, he can hit the turn without slowing down a lot better than the longer legged sprinters.

Sad news but he made the right decision. He will only be remembered decades from now for what he did outdoors. He needs to dip under that 10 second mark and if healthy I think that he can. The sub 20 I doubt though.

I really hope UK Athletics does the right thing and sends Andrew Robertson. It would be the thrill of a lifetime for the kid and fininshing 2nd means he deserves to be there!
