There are beautiful and ugly ppl everywhere, but hey, if you want to dip that low in your argumentation, it's up to you

and there were kind nazis too i guess? (just to show you how counterproductive your anti-racist comment was)

anyway i don't want to derail this thread because you said that i "dip that low in my argumentation" but this thread is the only place on the internet where the benzema myth is exposed like this, nobody never addressed the marketing aspect of benzema and some other players from real madrid like i did, i have tons of proof, quotes, that you will only find here
and finally it's payback time, while benzema was scoring last season i kept saying that it was nothing, because i knew what was happening behind the scenes
now he has spent more than 13 hours on the fields whithout scoring and higuain is titular
i'm the only one as far as i know who knew that mourinho didn't like benzema, and as a consequence i was the first to tell that he was not going to be a titular anymore this season
i said this while benzema was at his top and everybody was worshipping him...but now everybody can see that i was right

since mourinho won the spanish league this year, he will become more influential, and the club owners will be forced to buy a new striker
then mourinho will put benzema on the bench, or he will play in unimportant matches, or in a more defensive position

mourinho will do exactly the same that he did with eto'o at internazionale in 2009, when etoo played almost as a full back, just because mourinho was forced to put him on the field (but his favourite striker was milito)

my name makes the benzema fanboys cry:

you know also that all strikers encouter poor scoring periods, like Benzema right now, and like, uh, take a look at your profile picture if you see what I mean, don't need to go further, Giroud is my fav' player too in EDF

you can't compare benzema and giroud because giroud was titular only 2 times for arsenal so far
he just came to his new club, like every player he needs time to adapt to his new team mates and club
benzema on the otherhand has been in real madrid forever, and he's just not a great goal scorer

by the way "EDF" stands for "equipe de france" so you must say "french national team" here

for the first time to my knowledge, the french press asks why benzema suddenly became the number one striker at the start of the 2011-2012 season, while this season higuain is the number 1 again:

http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Higuain-ne-fait-plus-la-mou/313085

translation:
why did mourinho change his idea so suddenly? probably because of higuain's great finishing, and his ability to break the defenses
"el pais" (biggest newspaper in spain) has another answer: it would be because of zidane, who is no longer a member of the crew (he's now coaching the youth categories of real madrid)
now that zidane is no longer in the crew, mourinho according to "el pais" would be free to put benzema on the bench"

in my opinion zidane is no longer in the crew because mourinho is now more influent and perez (the president) has to accept what he asks
so he asked to have higuain as the number 1 striker (but he accepted to use benzema as much as he can) and he asked to fire zidane

I was disappointed to see Benzema starting instead of Higuain in El Clasico. Benzema has already messed up two chances and we're still in the first half.

mourinho was under al ot of pressure lately, he was accused of having problems with marketing player ozil (in the latest match he insulted him and said him "so you think you're zidane?": http://www.intereconomia.com/noticias-/punto-pelota/mou-oezil-y-tu-te-crees-zidane-20121005 )

and there he is now, playing with 3 arabs in the starting 11 vs barca
it was obvious though that he benched higuain in the champions league match vs ajax a few days ago because he planned to make him a titular vs barcelona

benzema's miss...when he only had to push the ball inside of the goal...when he lost his balance and fell while shooting...and the ball ended on the post...
if he doesn't score in the second half and if barca doesn't lose, he'll be the one responsible for real madrid's failure to retain their title
when he missed this easy goal the score was 1-0, he could have ended the match, but he missed it and now the score is even

here are the 2 misses you mentionned
for some reason i didn't see the first one live:

these are 2 unforgivable misses in such an important match

it's early in the season but because of these misses real madrid has no hopes left to retain their title, an 8 points lead for barcelona is too much
benzema will be the main responsible for real madrid's failure to retain their title

On the bright side all four goals were scored by Ronaldo and Messi, including a glorious free kick from the Argentine. There can be no doubt they are the top two players in the world.

I don't want to pick on Pepe as he's a good player but what on earth was he doing on that first Messi goal?

here are benzema's stats with the french national team (goals/matches ratio):

900142.png

compared with other famous french players

benzema's stats are very mediocre
he scores less than middlefielders, and he's close to the extremely mediocre winger wiltord

in the french national team there is no real goalscorer right now, for example the top scorer at the qualifyers to the 2012 euro champs was gourcuff
then during laurent blanc's spell as a coach, the top scorer was malouda
while benzema was the undisputed titular as striker and "goalscorer"

i really hope that he won't score against spain but i know that spain's defence is in bad shape
so far benzema has spent 615 minutes whithout scoring with the french national team

for those who understand french:

here's jean michel larqué talking about benzema in the french national team, it's from 2 days ago:

and here's a debate about whether benzema cares about france or not:
http://youtu.be/qNbORcLYrNU

this debate happens because benzema said that "Algeria is MY country so France is only for sport":
http://youtu.be/9axkK-B3zyY

here he is with fellow arab nasri looking not very concerned during the french anthem:

higuain with argentina while benzema has now spent 700 minutes whithout scoring with france, and could lose his place in the starting 11:

and they say that higuain only scores tap-ins...

he's the top scorer of the south american qualifyers

Off course Benzema isn't a proud french guy. If in the future white french aren't the big majority anymore then they aren't proud anymore too becuase then they don't feel too like it is their country. For a proud countrie you can't have much cultural diversity.

waterbed, i'm happy to see you back

in france patriotism exists but it's strange, for example a player like gourcuff, who's white and all, is he proud of being french? while france forced his ancestors to speak french, and the language of his ancestors was forbidden at school?
i also know that the basques usually don't sing the national anthem (but deschamps sings it while he's basque)
usually french people don't really care about france but are more about their region
other examples are lemaitre the sprinter

Frederic, Thank you nice to hear bro.

I didn't know french aren´t much patriotic, interesting.
Because of storys I heard about french radio stations have to play some % of francais chansons and other things I tought they were.
But france has lot of regions off course with differnent history.
Here you have a bit that in the very north Friesland they talk a differnt language and think they are scandinavians or so lol and under the 3 rivers Waal ,maas and the Rijn they feel a bit differnent and always were Catholic not Protestant like north europe; the Romans didn´t know how well how to escape the rivers.

i would say that french are so inward looking that they don't even care that much about the country as a whole under normal circumstances, we care more about the region, even the cities
in my grandparent's times, if you were from a village you couldn't understand somebody from another village a few km away, because there were different words and different accent

we feel french when we are attacked, for example you mentioned the music, it's because in france we felt like there were too many cultural products from USA (music, food, cinema) so we felt invaded

here are some parts of an article which says a lot about french mentality: (it's about rugby) http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2006/feb/05/features.sport11
To our opponents, who mostly worked on the land, we were 'city boys'. And when they heard my English accent, I swear I saw the delight in their eyes. Ten minutes into the match a prop ploughed my thigh with his studs. I didn't see who threw the punch after half an hour, but he was a strong lad for sure. The butt came midway through the second half. A few minutes later, as I lay on the ground having made a tackle, I suffered what the French call a fourchette. In Britain, it's known as eye-gouging and the experience is frightening. For a moment I thought it was an accident, a stray finger. But then I felt the finger burrowing and twisting deep into my eye socket. I began to panic. It was then that one of my teammates came to my aid. Later, in the bar, he poured me a pastis and, chuckling, said: 'I am afraid we don't have much fair play down here.'

By down here he meant the far south of France. To understand why this part of the country embraced rugby with such alacrity you must first understand the mentality of the people: passionate and argumentative, confrontational and excitable. And, above all, parochial. Outsiders are viewed with suspicion and visiting teams aren't just trying to win a match, they're trying to defile the town, steal its pride, besmirch its honour. The home team will fight to the last in its defence.
For centuries, soule was the game through which villages challenged each other to see who was the most dominant. The male inhabitants of two villages would meet in a midway field and try to put the heavy wooden or leather ball into the other team's impromptu goal. It was brutal and a typical game would leave many of the hundreds of contestants with broken limbs or bloodied faces. But from soule originated l'esprit de clocher, (the spirit of the bell tower), meaning that it is the duty of anyone born within the sound of the town's church bells to uphold its glory.
The French authorities had long campaigned to prohibit soule and, by the latter half of the 19th century, the game was losing popularity. Rugby was a natural replacement. It required similar aggression and strength and, best of all for the southern Frenchmen, it aroused l'esprit de clocher.
Philippe Saint-Andre, director of rugby at Sale Sharks, won 69 caps on the wing for France in the 1990s, 34 as captain. After playing with and coaching Gloucester for five years, he returned to France to coach Bourgoin in 2002 before moving to the north-west of England two years ago. 'Even in the professional era there is still a "win at home, lose away" mentality in French rugby,' he told me. 'You could call it l'esprit de clocher.'

Like most of the 14 sides in the French First Division, Bourgoin is a big club in a small town (population 23,000 and just south of Lyon). 'When I was there about 60 per cent of the squad came from Bourgoin,' Saint-Andre says. 'At home the players were playing in front of their friends and family. They knew most of the spectators and knew they were playing for the honour of Bourgoin. It was as if they were ready to die for the town.'

(note: Philippe Saint-Andre is from my region, and bourgoin is the club in which my family used to be involved)

Parochialism and a fierce regionalism are what inspire passion in France, according to Townsend. It gives towns a sense of identity. During his two years with Brive the average home crowd was 10,000, in a town with a population of 50,000. 'When you win at home it's great,' he says. 'People slap you on the back and stop you in the street to say "well done". But if you lose you're in trouble. When I was playing for Castres a few seasons ago we lost at home for the first time in about two years. My wife was in the stand sitting next to Raphael's [Ibanez] wife and she couldn't believe some of the things the spectators were shouting at us. But when we played away hardly any of our fans came, because winning at home is what counts.'

Parochialism is also responsible for the extraordinary difference in style between French club rugby and the national team. 'Before I first played in France my view of French rugby came from the Five Nations,' says Townsend. 'They played with flair and they were great counter-attackers. But that's not what you get in the French league.'
Players take fewer risks with their clubs because the pressure of l'esprit de clocher is so great. In a recent book, the intellectual Jean Lacouture, author of the most authoritative biography of Charles de Gaulle and a lifelong rugby fan, wrote that the game is 'an opera of gestures, a way of life, a certain contour and colour of the landscape... the taste of mushrooms, of confit of goose and of [eating] woodpigeon the evening of a match ... rugby is our country'. That is why home fans want victory at all costs: they live and breathe rugby and their town's honour is at stake just as it was two centuries ago when soule was the sport.

So how to explain the enigma of French rugby? In the aftermath of defeat (vs australia in the 1999 world cup final after a fantastic victory against new zealand in semi finals), writer Daniel Herrero, in Le Journal du Dimanche, wrote that France play best when beset by paranoia, when they believe the world has conspired against them and that there is no hope other than to rise up in revolt against the oppressor. He called this 'the energy of survival' and, in the second half against New Zealand, it produced inspirational rugby.

'The team then had a week to conceive a new energy: the energy of conquest,' Herrero continued. 'This is born from pugnacious hard work, methodical assimilation and mature experience. The energy of conquest constrains cultural transformation.' France could not find this new energy for the final, not because time was too short but because it is not in the French sporting character. 'The energy of conquest isn't stirring. She is cold, rational, self-controlling. Robotic. She is ... Australian.'

"France play best when beset by paranoia, when they believe the world has conspired against them and that there is no hope other than to rise up in revolt against the oppressor"
i think that it's what happened a few days ago in the france-spain soccer match
at half time the coach and the players were very upset because they thought that the referee was unfair to france, and at the end of the match the players said things like "nobody thought it was posible", "we silenced the doubters" ect

the same happened in 1998, when france won the coach said 10 minutes after the final whistle that he would "never forgive" the media who was very critical of the french team

this article is about rugby so it's mainly about the south of france, but there it's not very different in the north either, see this movie for example: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1064932/

that's one of the reasons why the "service militaire" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription ) was mandatory in france, to make people from different areas come together and speak together while their languages were different: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0e/Langues_de_la_France.svg

that's why your phrase:
For a proud countrie you can't have much cultural diversity.
looked strange for me when speaking about france

there are rumours about benzema leaving real madrid
they say that they would want to buy a new striker, and higuain would stay because mourinho wants him more

there are rumours about PSG being very interested in benzema
some articles in france are mentionning that PSG want benzema because he's arab, for the marketing of the club

for example:
http://www.foot-sur7.fr/2012/10/22/transfert-benzema-au-psg-falcao-a-madrid/Foot-Sur-7

it's the second time that there are rumours of PSG being interested in benzema
they also wanted feghouli, and taarabit, other arabs

obviously the PSG suporters don't want him, because they can see how bad he is in the french national team, and they know that they have enough money to buy tier 1 strikers
they already have ibrahimowicz who's better and plays in the exact same position as benzema

legendary french striker jean pierre papin said on a radio show that he was very surprised by the way benzema plays, he said that he tried to take the ball low on the pitch like cristiano ronaldo and dribble past many defenders, while benzema can't do that, he said

he said that olivier giroud has to play instead of benzema if france plays with 2 wingers (menez/valbuena and ribery)

i also came accross this article in french: http://leplus.nouvelobs.com/contrib...dangereuse-instrumentalisation-politique.html

it's about a comment from jean marie le pen (far right) saying that PSG was no longer french (i don't agree, because they are as french as the other clubs)
the guy answers that yes, PSG will buy an arab player for the marketing, and he fails to see how this is a problem
he says that "he will add his talent to the team"
but no, a marketing player doesn't bring any talent to the team, it's the definition of a marketing player, he only plays because of his ethnicity, not because of his talent
he says that today you have to play with an african player for the african public, an asian player for the asian market ect

another problem is that some players are in a big club only because of their ethnicity, so they are going to be called in the national team, taking a place from a white player
in france we have many arabs who play in big clubs for the marketing: benzema, nasri, ben arfa, even feghouli and many others who chose to play internationally for algeria
also we have many players who are token black players in some top clubs (abidal was an obvious one, makelele too, maybe evra and many others)

abidal is both a very faithul muslim and a black player: he's the perfect marketing player, he just needs to pretend that he has ancestors from asia
(maybe that's why ribery pretended to have an asian ancestor? :nerd:since bayern munchen are one of the only german clubs to have 0 asian player)

AC milan has their official website available in arab, and bayern munchen in japanese and chinese :icon_surprised:
so it's obvious to see which league targets the asian market and which club targets the arab market more

Kagawa-but to honest,he's not your typical quota palyer in the sense that he is talented and was part(an important part I'm told) of the title winnig Dortmund team.

as i posted in this thread before, real madrid sent lassana diarra in russia, and they immediatly bought essien (with the outcry by some former real madrid players, like guti: http://www.castefootball.us/forums/...in-real-madrid?p=257813&viewfull=1#post257813 )

also when abidal couldn't play anymore for barcelona they bought song

Kagawa-but to honest,he's not your typical quota palyer in the sense that he is talented and was part(an important part I'm told) of the title winnig Dortmund team.

like i said about the asian players in another thread ( http://www.castefootball.us/forums/...League-2012-13?p=261208&viewfull=1#post261208 ) you can be a good player and still be overrated
i only saw kagawa play once, it was with the japanese national team in a friendly match, so i can't judge him, but i'm 100% sure that he's overrated

Well, regarding Kagawa,I won't deny he is overrated or the fact that he is there in manchester to fill a quota-as he was in the Bundesliga in the first place.
And in case I made it look like I was defending Kagawa in the first place, that is not what I was trying to do.
Kagawa has no reason to be in Europe!

higuain had 2 goals in yersteday's match against mallorca, and 2 assists

beatiful goals:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xuo8ym_mallorca-vs-real-madrid-0-3-28-10-2012-ourmatch-net_sport

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xuo7li_mallorca-vs-real-madrid-0-1-28-10-2012-ourmatch-net_sport

it seems that he's back to his best shape: in this match he had 2 shots, 2 goals
benzema didn't even came in after his disapointing match in champions league against dortmund

so far, higuain has 7 goals overall (6 in la liga) and benzema 3 (1 in la liga)

Good news for Real Madrid fans: Benzema won't be playing against Borussia Dortmund in Champions League this week. He's out with a thigh injury so presumably Higuain will take his place. Real lost with Benzema two weeks ago.
