2011 NFL Week 10

Matt Giordano had a very important interception in the endzone with a nice return, his second in a season where he's a part-time starter (4 out of 8).

Jacob Hester also had a TD, a rare event. he had 2 touches where both Matthews and Tolbert struggled vs Raiders...

can you believe it's week 10 already?! Peyton is not playing this week, nursing his hammy. I hope for a big game from Tebow and Decker and that Woodhead gets touches ahead of Faulk...

Carson Palmer had a decent game yesterday. I'm wondering if he will remain the permanent starter or will Scambull regain his starting job. Scambull is injured right?

What is going on with Rivers though? This certainly is a down year for him as he has more picks than touchdowns right now. Hopefully this is just a temporary issue and he gets back to normal next season.

i think he's there to stay. he had a great game, something like 15 ypa (Raiders franchise record). he can actually put their speedy "receivers" to a good use. he looks better than in his last season with Bengals, that's for sure. i think Campbell is done as a starter in the NFL.

There was a reason why Archie didn't want Eli to wind up in San Diego. It is poorly run. The coaching has been terrible this year, playcalling etc. His teammates didn't even look like they were trying last night, giving up on routes, half assing things. I give props to Matt for the interception but the receiver was in the endzone and wasn't even looking for the ball, at least try to fight for it.

Then you read message boards and out of all people Weddle gets blamed for not being a "playmaker" like Ed Reed or Troy P. When those guys had their best seasons, the front 7 always got tremendous pressure, they made plenty of gambles and mistakes, and were allowed to because they would make up for it, or someone else would cover it up since there were so many playmakers on the defense. Weddle doesn't have that luxury, he can't take that many gambles because they would call for his head for every mistake, yet he has 5 interceptions and leads the league in pass deflections.

There is nothing that Tolbert or Michael Bush can do that Hester can't. I know they are supposed to be powerbacks but they just look fat, maybe not as bad as Lendale White but it is still pathetic. Matthews has a little more straight line speed than Hester but can never stay healthy and doesn't have the power.

In a sane world there is no possible way Campbell gets the starting job over Palmer. I saw throws last night that Campbell could never dream of making, and Palmer just started playing in this system a few weeks ago and had been out of football for a while. He is going out there on natural talent, he probably doesn't know the entire scheme yet.

Im thinking Woodhead gets at least 10 touches like last week. Faulk has been nursing his knee injury all week.

I can't see how Campbell becomes the Raiders starter again, barring injury to Palmer. The Raiders gave up way too much to get Palmer if they just wanted him to be a backup, and he's starting to play well.

Nelson is part black.

Palmer played great, with a perfect QB rating (158.3) for most of the game. Weddle had 8 tackles, LaBoy made the hit on Palmer that caused his interception, Giordano with the key pick, Hester scored. White players had a disproportionately positive influence on the game.

And what about Vincent Jackson not even trying to make the catch at the end of the game? One of the most pathetic things I've ever seen in the dumbed-down NFL, but he'll quickly be forgiven and the DWFs and media will continue to ask, "What's wrong with Philip Rivers?" and ignore all the injuries plaguing their receivers (once again this season), Gates being hobbled, Vincent Jackson loafing on the key pass of the game last night, the line protecting poorly, etc.

Palmer can certainly revive his career in Oakland. He's a big upgrade over Jason Campbell. The knock on Palmer was that his arm strength just wasn't there anymore. I haven't watched him play yet this season but all the reports I've read state he's throwing as good as he was when he first came into the league.

Two good Caste matchups on Sunday: Houston vs. Tampa and New England vs. the NY Jets.

I'll be rooting for the Texans and Patriots of course, and also for the Rams defense to keep playing at the high level they have the past two games and dominate Cleveland's pathetic offense.

I'll actually be rooting for the Panthers to win, as a victory over Tennessee will help the Texans. Maybe a low scoring defensive battle that ends in a 6-3 Panthers win.

Gentlemen, I watched a bit of last night's snooze fest via the Net. As has been the case too often in recent years, especially since serial caste clown Randy Mueller was hired after 2007 to help out A.J. Smith with free agency and the draft, the Chargers always seem to screw over whites every chance they get.

Last night it was Stephen Gregory's turn to take it up the @&&. He was declared inactive due to a minor thigh injury and his 'very affletic backup', Paul Oliver, had a bunch of tackles and a lucky Int. off a Travis Laboy hit of the QB/deflection last night. I would not be surprised if Gregory loses his starting spot soon, as tons of DWF's and the media had put a target on his back after the Green Bay game -- he was blamed for being late 'helping out' all the multi-millionare/draft bust CB's that could not cover Jordy (or their own shadows) last Sunday.

More reasons why Jason Campbell is toast as the starter in Oakland. The Raiders were likely the last team to give him a shot as a starter. At this point in his career I see Campbell becoming a Tony Banks or Rodney Peete or Charlie Batch type of long-term back-up.

Friday Update *** QB Carson Palmer (OAK) called audibles throughout the team's Week 10 game. The Raiders ran a no-huddle offense more often in Week 10 than they had with former starting Jason Campbell at quarterback - and a lot more often than expected from a quarterback who had no team until three games ago. Head coach Hue Jackson said they employed the no-huddle because it plays to Palmer's strengths. "He's one of the best in the business at it," Jackson said.

Raiders RB Michael Bush said the team communicates better since the arrival of Palmer than in the past. Bush added Palmer brings a lot of leadership to the position. "The communication got better when he first stepped into the building," Bush said of Palmer. "He was talking to everybody, asking questions, just getting to know people, being a leader, being a quarterback."

Palmer should be the starting QB for the next 5-6 seasons. They gave up a first rounder and a 2nd round pick that could turn into a first for him. Campbell should take his spot as a backup qb for the rest of his career.

Mike Greenburg from Mike & Mike on BSPN said he felt bad about Campbell (he's been a Campbell nut-hugger for years) losing his starting job because he doesn't think he got a fair chance to be a starting QB. He only had almost a decade to improve, yet in his next sentence Greenburg was fine with saying Tebow couldn't play QB in the NFL after his bad game in Detroit, in only his 3rd or 4th NFL start...:dizzy:

I feel bad too! LOL! How many black quarterbacks does that leave us with at this point? Jackson,QB Dog Killer, Scam, and Freeman. I don't think I missed anyone. So much for the golden era of black qb's.

DeSean Jackson is inactive today for disciplinary reasons. But from what I'm reading, his place is being taken not by the tall, fast, sure-handed redzone threat Riley Cooper, but by the slow slot receiver Jason Avant. Typical Fat Bastard move if true.
