Well well well once again the caste system has done its job. In typical caste fashion depite WV star players Mike Gansey and Kevin Pittsnogle getting 1st team all Big East, the toughest conf. in America, they screwed over for guys who have "more potential" and are "athletically gifted". Meaning guys who are black and therefore look the "part" of an NBA player. Maybe if Gansey would stop looking so white, by wearing his huge t-shirt under his jersey, he would look more athletic, bigger, and thuggish. Although one must point out that Gansey benched 185 lbs 20 times which is more than 75% of the guys who got drafted can say. Maybe if Kevin Pittsnogle would go tanning and not look like such an "inbreed" and swore at the refs and just stopped acting like a country boy he too would have gotten drafted. No one can look me in the eye and honestly say to me that half the duds picked in the 2nd Rd are better than these two guys. If only they were at least half black they'd be on an NBA team right now. However that is not the case and Gansey and Pittsnogle will have to go through a bunch of b.s. NBDL and Europe league crap and maybe hopefully they'll get a shot at a roster somewhere. I even love how my Cavaliers needed a big guy and Pittsnogle was right there for the taking and yet they get some African stiff from Nigeria named who the hell knows. I feel especially bad for Kevin as he has a child to put food on the table for and these a-hole NBA teams make it that much harder for him now. I'm so sick of this crap!

Gancy and Pittsnogle were projected to go either late in the 1st or early in the 2nd round. Shocker they were about the only two players whom the draft "experts" were that wrong about. It is indeed a disgrace that neither of them were drafted at all. At least the league hasn't quite given up on those European players yet, although a few more "busts" like Darko (i.e., drafted high but never given a fair chance to succeed) and the NBA drafts might soon return to the dark ages we all knew and loved.

Darko is still very young and I believe that this will be a breakout year for him. Maybe Darko and Reddick will make some magic happen for the Orlando Magic.

6 whites were drafted in the first round or 20% of the field. Thats consistant with the demographics of the NBA. 10 went in the second round, but few second rounders really have any meaningful impact as they are not taken seriously.

Hopefully Pittsnogle and Gansey will get picked up as free agents. If not they may feel more at home playing in Europe anyways. This is most unfortunate as the two of them could have been real impact players in the NBA.

As i mentioned in anouther post. If your white and American then you have got to be the first or second best college basketball player in the country in order to be given consideration in the first round of the draft. Best of luck to Reddick and Morrison.

I tend to doubt the "worldly" Pittsnogle would feel at home playing in
Europe.

Yeah, that stupid redneck! That country bumpkin is so much less cultured than those noble, wonderful ghetto rats.

Free agent Kevin Pittsnogle signs free-agent contract with Celtics.

Pittsnogle, a six-foot-11 center who is West Virginia's career three-point leader, was passed over in June's NBA draft along with Mountaineers teammate Mike Gansey. Both played for the Miami Heat in a summer league, and Gansey signed a two-year deal with the Heat.

Pittsnogle led the Mountaineers with 19.3 points per game last season and was named to the All-Big East first team. He led West Virginia to the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament the past two seasons.

"Clearly, Kevin's strength is extending defences with his range. He's big enough and he's got a quick trigger," agent Dan Tobin said. "He's a unique player, somewhat of a specialist at this point. We're trying to expand other areas of his game and I think that's what's going to help him make the transition."

I might be wrong but I don't think so . I am pretty sure I read where Gansey was cut from Miami yesterday. I will try to verify this or maybe someone else knows for sure. That would be about par for the course if he was.

I found it. In the transaction section of USA Today, it states that Mike Gansey was waived yesterday by Miami. Figures. That didn't last long.
