US hispanic birth rate declining

I saw an article yesterday claiming that with the economic decline births for all races are down. The only group mentioned specifically were hispanics (who of course can be of any race but in the US are mostly different levels of mestizo) and according to the article the hispanic birth rate is down so much that the average expected births per hispanic mother is down from 3.0 children a few years ago to 2.4 now.
This makes sense in that the housing bubble states that have huge unemployment rates now are heavily hispanic if in fact there is an economy- birthrate connection.
