I was searching the internet for old football highlights(which I didnt find) and came across this imdb page. Its still in production; the screenplay is being written by Clancy Sigal(Frida, In Love & War), that seems promising. Sport movies now are mainly focused on black intergration(yet another movie being made on that),so this is a breath of fresh air, if it's not killed in production. By the way, Bronko Nagurski had one of the toughest names in football. Wouldn't you agree?

I hope this project sees the light of day, and soon. Young white males need to see men like Bronco portrayed in a positive way.

I've always been interested in ethnic names and derivations of such. In checking Bronko Nagurski's heritage, it appears he was not Polish. The name Bronko is fairly common in some -Slavic- countries, but Nagurski's first name was a nick name shortened from Bronislaw.

Because of the large number of Scandinavians residing in Minnesota and the "-ski" in his surname, Nagurski received all sorts of interesting ethnic nicknames: the Viking Volcano, the Durable Dane and the Pulverizing Pole, in addition to the Big Fellow, the Big Nag and the Battering Bronko. Nevertheless, Bronko was proud of his real heritage saying, "I'm no Pole. I'm Ukrainian."
