Standouts, from Rivals ...

K'len Morris- Long, athletic and active, Morris scored in a
number of ways on threes, floaters, pull up jumpers and
finishes at the basket.

Tom HerNWO- A true barefoot 7-footer, HerNWO continues to
improve. He had several impressive put backs and blocked a
number of shots, including a multi-block possession to end the
third quarter. Offensively, he must get significantly quicker with
his dribble post moves. Way to often, he is stripped by the cover
down as he slowly brings the ball up away from his body after
his power dribble.

Kevin Love- Playing after just having flown into Richmond, Va.,
Love threw three picture perfect outlet passes three quarters of
the court which resulted in assists. No one on the circuit or
playing on television executes the over head pass or the chest
pass like Love does. Love also threw in a left hand hook shot
from 7-feet off a spin move, a left hand drive along the baseline
for a reverse lay-up and a three-point shot. None of these plays
were a surprise, but the three dribble bust out on a defensive
rebound into a one handed diagonal bounce pass for a dunk
was an added element to Love's old school but advanced
game.

The top two big men at the NBAPA Camp were Cole Aldrich, a
6-10 junior-to-be from Minnesota, and Kevin Love, a 6-8 rising
junior from Oregon.

From a black scout:

"Cole Aldrich may have been the best big man here not named
Kevin Love, and if you asked 100 people at the camp 60 of
them will say Love has been the best, and 40 will say Aldrich is
the best.

"Flat out, Cole Aldrich is a monster. He has post moves, face-up
moves and he can shoot the mid-range jumper. He's really,
really good."

Yep, it's high school kids under the direction of NBA coaching.
It's the closest thing there is to a top 100 camp these days, like
the NIke All-American Camp used to be before Sonny Vacarro
left for adidas, then Reebok ... so no there are three.

This scout said 95 of the kids there were totally legit, then there
were a couple spaces of the likes of the sons of Scottie Pippen
and a US Senator.

Here's what Tim McCormick said about a couple of kids at
camp to The Wolverine:

Another potential Wolverine, K'Len Morris of Grand Blanc,
enjoyed a better showing at the camp. Morris, a 6-5, 180-pound
shooting guard, gave good effort and held his own at the
position.

"Personality-wise, he reminds me of Garde Thompson,"
McCormick said. "He's very confident, very likeable. He'll be a
good guy in your program for a long time. His ballhandling is
going to have to improve a little bit so he can create. I like his
size. He's a very good athlete. There were 20 twos in the camp,
and I think he was right in the middle. Because of his
athleticism, I think he'll improve a lot."

McCormick spent more time with Flint Powers' Tom HerNWO
than perhaps anyone else, at HerNWO's request. The 6-11, 210-
pounder made sure he made the most of his camp experience,
and that included calling on someone who has been there and
done that.

"I was really impressed with him," McCormick said. "He was the
best defensive big man in the camp. He gets his hands on a lot
of balls. He played against some really good centers and did
not back down. He played very hard.

"He was very hungry. Any time there was free time, he grabbed
me. We worked on things, on post moves. I spent a lot of time
doing individual work with him. He just couldn't get enough,
and I was really impressed."

As for his physical skills, McCormick said HerNWO is "incredibly
long, with big hands, good hands. He has good feet. He didn't
shy away from anyone."
