Morgellons

I don't know if any of you have heard of Morgellons syndrome, but it is fascinating modern disease. The most interesting think about Morgellons is the eruption from the skin of small, hard fibers - red, blue, brown, and clear - that so far are unidentified. From the article:

The fibers had no cuts or extrusion marks that would establish them as man-made and no internal structures such as cell walls that would make the case for natural origin. The fibers did not lose their color in any solvents or detergents. At 1,600 degrees Fahrenheit, they did not burn.
