Maskaev

Maskaev fought last night on Friday night fights, winning by TKO in the 3rd round of a last-minute substitute fighter named Livan Castillo.

I didn't catch the fight except for the highlights, which showed Maskaev flooring the Ecuadoran. The knockdown was reminiscent of his win over Rahman, although this guy was too far from the ropes to fly through them.

The latest press on this fight mentions the rumor that Maskaev may be in line for a match in the fall against Vitali.

Very entertaining. That guy was way too small for the Big O.
He hit Maskaev with a few shots but Maskaev just brushed
them off like he didn't even feel them. Of course Klitschko will
be a totally different animal.

They also had Ricky Hatton "in studio" and it was great to see
him, too.

JD, I agree with Gary on this issue. I really don't want to see Vitali fight Maskaev. Or Wlad, for that matter.

Vitali needs to pound out some wins over Rahman, Brewster, and James Toney to name a few. Byrd should man up and fight Wladimir. Maybe then we can add Maskaev and Valuev into the mix, unless they can get a shot at one of the aforementioned men of color first!

I agree WS, he needs to shut the critics up by beating top name opponents who are the medias favorites, then he can give whoever he wants a shot, after he is thought of as the real champ by most people.

I don't enjoy seeing white fighters fight each other either. If it
happens, it happens. And the better they become, the more it
will happen. And financially it's good for them, obviously.
Those are good things. But as a viewer there's no "high" from
it for me personally. Boxing is very visceral; seeing a white
man knock out a black man is a whole lotta fun! Of course
seeing the opposite happen is nauseating.
