AKRON, Ohio -- LeBron James' mother has been arrested for driving while intoxicated, disorderly conduct and other charges.
Gloria James was pulled over Friday night by two off-duty officers, who were working security for the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority, an Akron police spokesman said.
The officers said Gloria James almost hit their unmarked car with her 2004 Cadillac Escalade.
The officers said the 37-year-old James smelled of alcohol and she appeared to be disoriented.
She struggled with police as they attempted to put handcuffs on her.
They put her in the back seat of the housing authority car where she yelled obscenities at the officers.
James was taken to a police station, where she refused to take breath or sobriety tests. She posted a $2,500 US bond and was released after being charged with reckless operation, speeding for driving 80 kilometres per hour in a 48-km/h zone, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, disorderly conduct and damaging police equipment<BR clear=right>
