The once great Kentucky program has fallen to new depths. The debate on the Kentucky bulletin boards is whether Tubby Smith ran the program into the ground or whether Billy Gillispie is an idiot. Most folks are on the "Tubby left the cupboard bare" bandwagon. I'm 50/50. I think he left the program in shambles but I also think Gillispie is an idiot. That said, I think there's a racial angle going on in Lexington that few Wildcat fans would acknowledge. Gillispie has been starting 2 white players of marginal ability (Porter and Coury) since Tubby didn't recruit many GOOD white players or if he did he sure didn't land them.
Two of the black seniors at UK, Ramel Bradley and Joe Crawford have been really inconsistent. I have a feeling there's some racial stuff going on to explain KY's 4-5 record. Racial as in, "why's he playing the white boy and I'm coming off the bench" and "I'm not passing to no #%$@ white boy" It could be Gillispie trying to send a message to his 2 seniors. I did a little digging and Crawford's high school was 90% black. Bradley's AAU team was 100% black. I'm guessing but both of them may have the idea that white's just can't play.
Any comments or thoughts from fellow KY fans?
