Two other very heralded rookies are 3B Evan Longoria of the Rays, who is starting to come on strong; and P Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers, who was just called up.

Don: I`ve watched some video of Kershaw and that curveball of his is something special.

If Cincy had kept Josh Hamilton and been able to pair him with Jay Bruce for years to come, man, I would`ve been paying a lot more attention to a team I generally can`t stand.

Anyway, I hope Jay Bruce is everything the "experts" have been saying he is.

Jay Bruce is at .270 with 6HRs and 21RBIs going into the All-Star break. He`s going to have his growing pains to be sure-he only turned 21 in April-but I think he has a chance to be a real superstar.

With a few games remaining, Jay Bruce is at .260 with 21 HRs and 52 RBIs. Pretty darn good for a 21 y/o rookie!

He has played real well since coming back from his injury.

Jay Bruce has improved his offense-slowly but surely-to the tune of .275/21/65 with a few games left, and has played Gold Glove-caliber defense in right field next to his super athletic CF teammate, Drew Stubbs.

Bruce had the NL Central clinching game-winning HR the other day.

He finishes with a .281 avg along with 25 HRs and 70 RBIs and should get a Gold Glove!

Jay Bruce is definitely one of the top young power hitters in baseball. In terms of raw power he might be our guy with the most "upside". He's increased his home run total each season which is promising.

2008: 21
2009: 22
2010: 25
2011: 32

This year might be his jump into stardom as he already has 3 homers in the first 3 games. 40 homers is attainable as well as his first 100 RBI season.
