I want to start a thread about one of the fasting rising
point guards in the nba.He was on the Hawks,Blazers,
Mavericks, and now is on the Hornets.Dan is a amazing
playmaker and never got a chance to play until this
year. He's only playing now because of a bunch of
injuries but he is here to stay.Gee,I wonder why they
wouldn't give him a chance.I have no idea.We know why!
His idol is the great Pistol Pete Maravich. You guys have
to check out this article on Dickau.

Dan Dickau had another nice game last night leading New Orleans to victory. He had 19 points and a whopping 16 assists. Now that Baron Davis is officialy on injured reserve Dan's playing time should continue to increase and so should his numbers.Scott Padgett had a good game for Houston last night as well. He's come alive as of late. And finally Kris Mihm had a double-double for the Lakers. It's great seeing these guys do well after several years of being considered flops. It's difficult to have to go through the public scrutiny that white NBA players have to go through as they have to fight to get any playing time. It's funny how these guys are drafted and yet so many end up warming the bench and disappear as quickly as they came. It's like somehow their basketball skills have abondend them.Michael Bradley is good example of that and there so many others. The one that is paricularly vexing is Darko Milicic.I know,I know Detroit has depth and it's tough for him to get playing time, but he doesn't even see the floor.

I will try the link again. It's a article about how Dan
has patterned his game after Maravich. He followed his
whole tapes and dribbled the ball everywhere he went.
Dan could dribble with both hands at age 3!What a great
role model for him to pick.Maravich worked as hard on his
game as anyone that ever lived and it payed off.

It went to the newspaper but you have to find the article
about Dan written on January 21,2005. This article is
worth reading.

Dan had 19 points and 12 assists last night against the
Lakers. It is very rare that a player comes in and lights
it up as quickly as Dan has.He just sees the whole floor
so good and the game comes naturally to him.He already
is up to almost 14 points a game on the season. What is
amazing is that they still only play him an average of
27 minutes a night! He still is putting up a ton of
double/doubles.He can do it all.I just feel bad for him
when Baaron Davis comes back. Then will he just dissapear
like he has the last 2 seasons in the nba on 4 different
teams.I sure hope not.

last night's game is exactly what I like to see, plenty of white content.Good games were had by Vladimir Radmonavic,Luke Ridnour,Casey Jacobsen and of course Dan Dickau.Dan is always hustling as shown by that one steal he had where he took it in for a layup. As a Gonzaga fan I got a steady dose of the Dickau hustle. It was a pleasure following Dan's two years with the Zags.New Orleans kept this game close for awhile, but then Portland pulled away.Only one thing bothered me about this game and that was the post-game interview with Luke Ridnour.Twice he mentioned this god thing, like everything is about the god thing. As an atheist I hate it when an athlete of any colour starts in with the god thing.

Dan had a amazing game today with 28 points! He knows he
is about to go back to the bench. They activated Baron
Davis yesterday and he will be back starting soon.
Dickau has shown he is one of the best point guards
anywhere.I feel so bad for this kid.He is so hungry to
win.He is a star but needs to be a starter.Dan is way
too good to come off the bench or even yet, never play.
Good luck to him and I hope they find some minutes for
him.Keep your head up Dan!

I just saw blurb that ESPN was reporting that Baron Davis had been traded. Looks like Dickau might be not be losing so much playing time after all.

I am so happy for Dan Dickau. He has bounced around the
nba and only now gotten a chance to play.It shows how
many other players get screwed over in the same fashion.
Dan deserves to be the starting point guard of the
Hornets and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. With Pistol
Pete being Dan's idol,I'm sure he is smiling somewhere
right now.Go Hornets.

Another big game for Dickau last night with 22 points.
He has to be one of the best storys in the whole nba
with how hard he worked to get his chance.I see him
being another John Stockton. He is that good and will
be making some all star games in the future.

I just love seeing Dickau continue to contribute the way he is,like in last night's game where he had 17 points leading the Hornets to victory.Another name that caught my eye last night was Richie Frahm of the Jail Blazers.I'm a big Gonzaga fan and it's great to see some alumni making some plays. The problem is that Frahm doesn't see the court that much so that 14 points he had last night was a pleasant suprise.Richie can light it up on occasion when given the opportunity as proven last year when he was with Seattle. He had one game there when he scored 31 points. There are still some other former Zags' around like Casey Calvary, who was supposed to drafted in 2001,and Matt Santangelo that hopefully will get a shot in the NBA.

I had to tell ya'll about what I heard last night about Dan Dickau. It was on 870 AM WWL out of new Orleans, and it was one of their own sports show hosts. He said that Dan was maybe an 8'th man on that team, along with some other guy, unreal! He said the Hornets only have 3 starting quality players, funny how all three are black. I couldn't believe the stupidity this guy was spitting out last night. I guess he's their nightly host until 10PM when their live programs go off. You guys within 800 miles or so of New Orleans might want to tune it in and see what other crazy things he says. He seems to have diarhea of the mouth. Then again, a good idea might be to turn him off completely.

If New Orleans isn't tooenamored with Dan Dickau, the Cleveland Cavaliers are. There is some talk now coming out Cleveland that if the Cavs' can't re-sign Jeff Macinnis that they would be very much interested in Dan.Let see,Dickau dishing to Lebron James, throw in the ever-improving Zydranaus Iglauskaus, and you have a team that is definately on the rise.Since Dan only has a one year deal with New Orleans he's free to go at the end of the season and he seems very receptive to the change in scenery, once again.

Very good points speedster.I love Dickaus tenacity
and fierceness as a player. You can never have too many
players like that.He will do what ever is asked of him
to win games.Dan gives 110% everynight.Whether in New
Orleans or possible Cleveland,I will root for him.

Any word on where Dan might go this year? It seems like the Jazz could use another point guard. Any news on Travis Diener or Taylor Coppenrath after the summer leagues?

See "Las Vegas Summer League" Thread, re. Diener and
Coppenrath. From the sounds of it, Diener will get some good
p.t. as a rookie, and Coppenrath will find a place in the league
at some point.
