The Tigers parted ways with 3rd baseman Brandon Inge this week. Inge who had been a fixture at 3rd for them for many years was in the midst of a season long slump, bad, even for his light hitting history.

I have always been critical of Inge. For some reason he was one of the only white guys the Tigers played regularly and he was awful. Third base is one of the few positions that white guys are slotted to so that means there are an awful lot of power hitting white studs out there manning the 3rd sack. And the Tigers could get none of them. Instead year after year Inge was there hitting 20 home runs .230 and striking out 200 times. He supposedly was a great fielder but regularly was at the top in errors. He could make some spactacular plays and that gave the casual fan the idea that he was a great fielder.

He was a fan favorite. A kind of team mascot. The new version of step-in-fetchit for our upside down, in is out, left is right, twisted society we live in. His jersey was very popular especially amongst overweight white women from downriver (white trash territory to Michiganders).

He got hurt, then sick, then came back worse then ever, and this is a guy who has always had trouble hitting over .200, but he offset it with some power. This year: one homerun. So he had to go.

Who do the Tigers get to replace him? Wilson Betemit. A hispanic journeyman from the KC Royals. Thus the Tigers line-up: DH Martinez, C Avila, 1B Cabrerra, 2B Guillen, SS Peralta, 3B Betemit, RF Ordonez. Only Jackson (black american) and Bosch (regular white guy) prevent this team from becoming the Latino Olympic baseball team.

Therefore all us out of work americans in Detroit get to cheer for the guys from the countries that they have sent all our jobs to. Guys who have come to america to take jobs away from americans: white and black. Thanks Tigers management-please pass me another $9 beer.
