Kent Benson and others basically were dillrods to Bird at IU. Bird being such a home-tip coudn't take it. No way Indiana State ever wins that game. Majic too much hocus pocus, better supporting cast. Bobby had so much talent at IU at the time he didn't care about some farm boy that could fill it up. Larry Bird, successful President of the Pacers and coach. Maji, successful businessman. Jordan and Isiah need to just go away. Jordan is running that franchise farther down into the ground....

I thought Bird left IU when Knight asked him to get a haircut and his reponse was "jesus had long hair". Then Knight dragged him to the pool and said if you can walk on water you can keep it. Maybe just a tall tale.

Exactly, with so many thugs to choose from, why did he go with Morrison? Morrison could've ended up in a better team and a system that suited him well.

At least now, he may have another shot at making something out of his NBA career.

We may never have the two top players in basketball be so similar. They were about the same height, had the same speed, quickness, jumping ability, passing skills and both were simply one step ahead of everybody on the court mentally. Larry Bird would have likely won a Title or two with the Pacers if not for the Malice in the Palace and Magic is a freakin billionaire. Of course all the commentators made fun of Bird's athletic ability while praising Johnson's. The stereotypes perpetuated about those two embody the Caste propaganda in the media. Bird was always the slow, un-athletic white guy with heart and smarts, whereas Magic was some king of super athlete for his size.

In reality, they were about equal in every respect.

Bird was more clutch though. Before that baby hook, Magic was known for missing in key moments. Bird on the other hand would tell you where he was going to hit the game winning shot then do it. World class Bad Ass.
