<DIV =inside-copy>SACRAMENTO (AP) â€â€￾ Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest slapped a woman's face and grabbed her repeatedly, causing visible injuries, according to a sheriff's report made public Tuesday.
Artest was arrested Monday after a woman inside his home in a Sacramento suburb called 911 and said she had been assaulted.
"Victim sustained visible trauma after being repeatedly grabbed by Artest and pushed to the floor," said the Placer County Sheriff's Department report. "Artest then slapped victim's face (and) by use of force prevented victim from leaving."
The report also said Artest took a phone from the woman the first time she tried to call 911.

The funniest thing about Artest is that he has recorded an album of some kind. I will assume it is C-rap music. This fact speaks so much as to how much "talent" is required to play C-rap music. It also says so much about the people that would "consume" music made by him.

To put this in perspective, if someone like Nash recorded something and tried to sell it, the "consumers" of such would be fodder for the Jerry Springer show and rightfully so. In fact, the media wouldn't hesitate to laugh at them and call them "doorknobs" or an equivalent. Somehow it escapes me how Artest's "fans" are not viewed likewise.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest wants to change his name to Metta World Peace.

Artest's attorney filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday seeking the change. The 31-year-old NBA star was born Ronald William Artest Jr.

In the court documents, Artest cites personal reasons for wanting to make the change.

An Aug. 26 court date was set to consider the petition.

The petition filing was first reported by celebrity website TMZ.

Artest's career has been filled with ups and downs. He helped the Lakers win the NBA championship a year ago and in April he received an award for outstanding service and dedication to the community.

He has testified before Congress to support mental health legislation.

Artest may be best known for triggering the most notorious brawl in NBA history when he jumped into the stands and attacked a fan while playing for the Indiana Pacers in November 2004. He was suspended for the rest of that season.

Artest wouldn't be the first NBA player to make a change to an unusual name.

Lloyd Bernard Free, who played in the league from 1975-88, had his first name legally changed to World in 1981. A friend had given him the nickname because of his 44-inch vertical leaps and 360-degree dunks.

In the NFL, Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Johnson legally changed his last name to Ochocinco in August 2008. The name means "eight five" in Spanish.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/basketball/nba/06/23/artest.name.change.ap/index.html?sct=hp_t2_a21&eref=sihp

Another facet of TNB on display here. These goons are always showing their lack of smarts and nobody seems to think anything about it.
