29-year-old Armenian Boxer Art Hovhannesyan, 14-0-1 (8KO) as a pro, 150 Amateur Bouts, scored an explosive 6th round KO last night, over previously undefeated American prospect Archie Ray Marquez.
I watched the entire fight, and Hovhannesyan looked great. Exceptional
boxing ability, very smart fighter, very fast hands, and he can hit.
This guy looks like the real deal. He is a blue-chip prospect.
Armenians have been producing some amazing talent in pro boxing lately (Arthur Abraham, Khoren Gevor, Vic Darchinyan, Vanes Martirosyan being the most notable examples). Just adds to the European hold on Professional Boxing.
It was also funny watching the commentators imply for the whole fight that Marquez was the better fighter because of his American amateur boxing experience (which they implied was better than Hovhannesyan's Euro boxing experience). How wrong they were!
Great win from Hovhannesyan and great win for European boxing! I will be keeping an eye on this guy!
