USF sophomore QB Cade Fortin has been named the team's starting quarterback.
This doesn't come as a major surprise, as Fortin (6'3/222) has been on the receiving end of positive reviews throughout fall camp. The sophomore, who attempted just eight passes last season due to various upper body injuries, beat out Miami transfer Jarren Williams for the starting job. And Fortin will certainly be familiar with the Bulls' opening opponent, as the North Carolina transfer will lead the USF offense against NC State on September 2.

Florida is such a hotbed of black football talent that even the fifth-best school in the state fields nearly an all-black roster after Florida, Miami, Florida State, UCF, and all the other P5 vultures from around the country have claimed their pickings.

Even the Group of 5 are woefully overrepresented in recruiting these magical blacks that hail from Florida - It's honestly the most bizarre/flawed logic out there and no one questions it. There are a certain number of good black players from Florida but as both you and Bucky have alluded to - coaches/recruiters/recruiting services think Black+Florida = a sure thing and the best way to get talent into the program. I'd love to see an analysis done on how many of these blacks from Florida are absolute trash and amount to nothing on the field and end up wasting a scholarship.

USF redshirt junior WR Bryce Miller entered the transfer portal.
Miller (5'10/187) had carved out a starting slot receiver role in HC Jeff Scott's offense heading into the 2021 season. However after three games he was shuttled down the depth chart into a reserve role, seeing his snap count dwindle accordingly. Last game against Cincinnati, he logged 20 snaps which was the fewest reps he had received all season. All told, Miller caught 66 passes for 669 yards and seven touchdowns over the course of his USF career. Since he appeared in more than four games, he will be forced to sit out the 2022 season unless he manages to graduate first, which is a possibility.
