Since '05, Virginia has started 4, 8, 8, 8, 9, 8, 10 an 9 whites from 2005-2012. They started 7 in 2014 and 9 in 2015. In 2016 they are projected to start 7.
UVA will be an interesting team due to Bronco Mendenhall taking over. He was the former BYU head coach who played and recruited many white players over his tenure there. Mendenhall's foray into the ever blackening ACC is going to be intriguing to watch - will he recruit the overlooked white players? or sell out like many other coaches who have built their careers on the shoulders of white players (Brian Kelly, Butch Jones, Dave Doeren etc.)? Although the initial number of starters is nothing to get excited about many of the players to watch are underclassmen who should eventually earn a spot in the starting line up.
QB Kurt Benkert is an ECU transfer and I am eager to see how he does this year - he was named the ECU starter last year but missed the season due to injury.
