the pre-season coverage of UNLV gives us a glaring example of what we are fighting against here at Caste Football. take a look at the following excerpts i have taken in their entirety from Fox Sports' website. it forecasts the Rebels' performance this fall...

Best pro prospect: Senior WR Aaron Straiten

The star-in-waiting (at least that's the hope) is senior Aaron Straiten, a top JUCO transfer who didn't break out as expected last year catching just 22 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns. He's 6-2 and 195 pounds with tremendous speed. Considered to be a cross between former USC stars Keyshawn Johnson and Curtis Conway, he could be a difference maker for the team's season if the light goes on.

Watch Out For ... Straiten. The underground buzz about him going into last year set up unrealistic expectations that weren't remotely close to being met. With NFL-caliber talent, he's due to break out.

take a wild guess as to what color skin Aaron Straiten has. but what is particularly strange about all this jock-sniffing praise for the returning wideout is the fact that last year he was only the third best receiver on his team.

even more bizarre? the two wideouts who were better than him are both returning!

check out these stats: Straiten last year had 22 catches for 249 yards and 3 TDs. not bad. now compare those to Casey Flair's team-leading 67 catches, 816 yards, and 4 TDs. or comparethem to Ryan Wolfe's 55 catches, team-leading 911 yards, and team-leading 5 TDs. oh, and Ryan was a TRUE FRESHMAN! Caseywill bea junior this year.

of course, those two fine athletes are white, so theymust just be working really hard or something. and furthermore, imagine the numbers they could put up iftheir quarterback didn't suck harder than an Oryck vacuum.

now onto the depth chart!
WR Ryan Wolfe (all conference)<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
WR Casey Flaire (all conference)
LT Richie Plunkett
C Joe Hawley
RG Mike McKiski

Defense:
DT Jacob Hales

what's even funnier, is that UNLV is reputed to be sorely lacking in talent. yet they are populated by nearlyexclusively blacks and pacific islanders? how can they not be talented?
