RB in Iowa just signed with Iowa State

-------
Zac Sandvig
RB | (5'10" 165)

Hometown: West Des Moines, IA
School: Valley High School
Region: MidWestStatus: Verbal
School: Iowa State

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------

Scouts Grade: 6.7
Position Rank: RB #52

Considered: 1-Iowa State
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------

Evaluation: Sandvig is a fun player to watch. His biggest obstacle is his size and that will prevent him from being an every down back. However, he is a guy that you want to find a way to get the ball in his hands because he can be explosive. He looks more quick then fast, but he hits top speed very quickly. He has quick feet and great change of direction skills. He can make a cut without having to lose stride. He displays very good vision when running with ball, and when he sees a seam waste little movement and time hitting it. Despite his lack of bulk he runs with surprising power and determination. He drives his legs and can be difficult to arm tackle. Many smaller backs tend to try and juke opponents, but Sandvig is a north-south guy that will make the moves only necessary to avoid defenders. He will try and bounce most plays to the corner but is not afraid to take it up between the tackles. While you love what Sandvig can do with the ball in his hands and he shows toughness, you always worry about a player his size and if he can take the punishment he will receive at the division I level. He is a guy you need to design ways to get the ball in his hands, either through the air or on hand offs. He is an exciting little player that if he can hold up can really spark an offense.

Notes: Had 1605 yds rushing as a junior

Good luck Zac! One thing that bugs me about these scouting reports is when they make a big deal about size. The kid is in HIGH SCHOOL! Most of these high school kids put on 20-30 pounds once they mature a little and get into a college weight training program. I have seen 6'1" 195 lb linebackers come in as freshman and leave school as 6'2" 230 lb beasts. I could definitely see this kid at 190 lbs in a couple of years.

His biggest obstacle is the fact he's white and not his size! That should have been the first and last thing said in the scouting report of any white high school tailback!

Down the memory hole for Zac. Rated by Scouts inc as a Blue Chip Running Back as we see from above.

Now he is a DB...who wants to bet he has to bulk up and be a safety. Surprised?, he is white you know!

Another shame! So many awesome white runners have to switch to DB, then they get purged after college, that is if they don't ride the pine while there.
