Holy Cow, what a ballgame! I expected Konerko to blast one but Scott Podsednik off Lidge? They almost mauled him to death at home plate. Joe Crede has made some big plays at the hot corner. Maybe Houston will do better at home and get back in it.

Since we talk a lot on this board about ethnic pride, it's worth
pointing out how appropriate it is that the stars carrying the Sox are
Slavic: Konerko, Pierzynski, and Podsednik. Many people don't
know that Chicago is the second largest Polish city in the world --
second only to Warsaw.

I would have considerd Podsednik for the MVP. His walk off homer off Lidge effectively ended the series right there. I think it totally demoralized the Astross. He also had two triples and stole two bases. If not him then Crede. He made so many great defensive plays that kept Houston from mounting rallies.

This world series was sweet, especially since it was won by a predomately white team like the white sox, but the only thing that could have made it better would be the white sox winning it at home, and have someone from the team get up on the mic and yell out to the Astros "NOW GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR PARK!!!" ala Vince McMahon and then have security escort the Astros out of the building. Hey, I can dream, cant I?

I'm a little late with this post but I could see the Jermaine Dye for MVP coming right after game 3. The White Sox sent 11 men to the plate in the 5th inning but all the media talked about was Dye's at bat, how great it was and how it was the most important at bat of the inning. I had a hunch that if Dye had a good game 4 he would win it.

Also, piss poor job by the fans in the last inning of game 4 letting Uribe catch that ball in the stands. The replays showed they backed away and let him catch it.

It's hard to criticize the choice of Dye as the Series MVP. I believe he batted .438.

Konerko would have been the MVP but he came up flat in Game 4, despite having a few opportunities to drive in a run.

I think Crede was a much better choice for MVP than Dye. Crede hit for more power and was absolutely sensational in the field. To be compared with Brooks Robinson is not a small thing. He made play after play robbing the Astros and diverting the Sox from disaster. His fielding and hitting combined should have given him the overwhelming edge. Compare stats. Pod was pretty good too.

I will say I saw a snippet of an interview with Dye and he was not
engaging in the usual ghetto banter I am used to hearing. If a non-white
has a sliver of a chance at a nabbing an MVP award in a championship
event, they'll usually get it, so I don't even bother thinking about that
particular trophy these days, as wrong as that might be. On the other
hand, this guy wasn't a bad choice, but I do think a couple of other guys
were far more spectacular. Since they are white, I am sure it was killing
the guys running the show in the booths, never mind hordes of
sportswriters who are little more than foot soldiers for the "syndicate"
holding this country hostage.

Baseball players are humble, period. And there's nothing the media can do about it. I watched an interview of David Ortiz and Andrew Jones before Game 3 and the guys doing the interview kept asking them "Are you the MVP?" First they tried to get Jones to brag about himself and then Ortiz. Niether of them would say anything that might sound conceited. It is so refreshing in baseball to see stars that are humble.
