As most soccer fans know the vote on who will host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups will be held on Thursday 2 December.

The USA is one of the front runners for 2022. The US bid's honorary committee chairman is Bill Clinton and it is supported by Obama and all celebrities like Spike Lee. Today Morgan Freeman messed up his part of the US final presentation:

Morgan Freeman gaffe

The speech seems to have been all about the usual diversity rubbish: "We are now the most diverse nation on earth," Freeman said. "And our patchwork heritage is our greatest strength." Freeman later introduced a video of President Barack Obama, whose message was similar. "Ours has always been a nation of great diversity and great promise," Obama said. "Anything is possible."

Frankly, given what really motivates the corrupt FIFA I doubt they give a darn about US diversity. (US money though is another matter!)

England was seen as one of the favourites but apparently British media coverage of FIFA corruption may hurt England's bid (for 2018) amongst bitter FIFA officials - mostly from the Third World. I think it would be a great shame if England, home of the most popular league in the world, lost lin part due to the integrity of the British media (on this occasion if not on others) while the US won (on the face of it) because of mostly black personalities bragging about US diversity.

Anyway the main contenders for 2018 are England, Russia, and Portugal/Spain (joint bid) along with longshots Belgium/The Netherlands (joint bid)

2022 contenders are the USA, Qatar, Australia, Korea and Japan

For the record I'm hoping England get it for 2018 and Australia for 2022. Qatar is favourite for 2022. I don't know how they would go about playing the matches in the summer desert heat but I'm guessing Arab oil money has something to do with Qatar's sudden popularity with FIFA.

Clinton said that we should get it because of diversity as well. He says all these foreigners in the US will fill the stadiums rooting for their home countries. It's getting to be this this pathetic in this country. How about they get the Hell out of this country.

ZURICH -- Former President Bill Clinton stressed the diversity of the United States in its bid to host the 2022 World Cup, telling the FIFA executive committee on Wednesday that "we can fill a stadium with home-nation rooters."

Clinton, the honorary chairman of the bid committee, spoke at the end of the country's 30-minute presentation to the 22 FIFA voters. Clinton read off his script and spent much time talking about his foundation and past achievements.

The United States is competing with Australia, South Korea, Qatar and Japan for the right to host the 2022 World Cup. FIFA will vote on the 2018 and '22 tournaments on Thursday.

Russia, England, Spain-Portugal and Belgium-Netherlands are bidding for the right to host the 2018 event.

The U.S. presentation at FIFA headquarters opened with actor Morgan Freeman calling the United States the world's most diverse country. Clinton later built on that theme.

"It's important that all the teams who come to any World Cup venue feel that they, too, are playing at home, not just for people watching on television," Clinton said. "I tell everyone maybe America's best claim to this World Cup is that we have the only nation you can put the World Cup that can guarantee no matter who makes the final, we can fill a stadium with home-nation rooters."

Freeman invoked the name of Nelson Mandela, the former South African president who helped bring the 2010 World Cup to that nation. Freeman played Mandela in the movie "Invictus," about how the former political prisoner used rugby to unite a country that had been separated by apartheid.

"We are now the most diverse nation on earth," Freeman said. "And our patchwork heritage is our greatest strength."

Freeman also was off his captivating best, making a mistake as he was reading his opening statement.

"I'm sorry, I missed a page," Freeman said after realizing his speech was going in a different direction.

Freeman later introduced a video of President Barack Obama, whose message was similar.

"Ours has always been a nation of great diversity and great promise," Obama said. "Anything is possible."

I think England should get it too. England has great facilities and fans that like the sport. Spain hosted it in 1982 and England hosted it last in 66.

They should have it in Europe every time. They support the whole sport really. They could have many sites throughout Europe instead of limiting it to one or 2 countries. Even if they moved it around the world, they could have more countries host games in each Cup.

Looks like old age is catching up with the earring wearing fool. I wish that 7 years ago I had known what I now know about Freeman or I'd never have shook his hand or said a word to him.

The World Cup bidding process is a convoluted circus of risible (or lachrymose, as You will) presentations which attempts to mask less-than-subtle undistilled bribery. Of course, that is what one gets with an "organisation" such as FIFA, in which the votes of arrogant and corrupt "offficals" from (how shall we put it civilly?) "developing nations" are of vital importance.
"American star power" indeed. Whenever "American star power" is involved, the blacks are trundled out en masse - I still remember the 1994 World Cup, complete with onerous slob Oprah Winfrey, drugged-up hag Diana Ross, et al. Maybe the fossilised porch-dweller Morgan Freeman should be applying a bit of soothing cream to those fungal growths on his ugly boat instead of displaying hisoratory skills to advantage bystuffing up a simple written speech. Ah, but I forgot - Freeman is a thespianic "legend". No affirmative action in the film industry on this evidence...

If You can lower Yourselves to watch the followingtripe, here is the Australian bid presentation:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogzjfJtg3TA

I'm still cringing. I don't know which element is worse - the sheer volume of blacks, Asians, Arabs, etc., or the annoying drawl of our dopey communi..., sorry, LaborPrime Minister, Julia Gillard. The evil bint isobviously attempting to sound sophisticated yet ocker - mind You, she's usually a lot worse, a genuineelocutionary nightmare. Then again, the dole queue drawl is a vital cog in appealing to the "working" (sic) class of the die-hard Labor heartland, usually found in a pub, tattoo parlour, or down the TAB, before staggering home broke and drunk to the taxpayer subsidised public housing hovel with the foot-high lawn. Sorry, I digress...
smiley36.gif

Note the number of black girls around the kangaroo in the beach scene (1:17) featuring Ian "really, I'm not a poof" Thorpe.

Australia's bid is headed by Football Federation Australia president Frank Lowy - who is of course, lo and behold, a Jew
smiley3.gif
. Funnily enough, once Lowy got hold of power, our domestic competition began to be filled with growing numbers of non-White "imports"...

All of the talk about the "Australian sporting culture" is good and fine. Too bad that it consists of rugby league, AFL, cricket, and a bit of rugby union(with swimming taking primacy during the Olympics - we love winners, You see),with minimal media interest in football (soccer, that is), the local religions receiving blanket coverage. The vast majority of Australian "sports journalists" are comically ignorant of "other" sports. I still recall hearing a couple of rugby league oafs on the radio several years ago displaying their startling knowledge of life beyond Australia by referring to the "Americans' baseball super bowl or something". Most of these media pricks are openly hostile to soccer and belittle the sport at every opportunity, as it threatens their small world of AFL and rugby league, a world in which they can cheer as Australia's league teamdemolishes the sporting titans of Papua New Guinea, whose players have come down from the trees for the day,by a cricket score. Even better, the AFL "all stars" can take on the Irish Gaelic football "all stars" in a hybrid game called "International Rules". Who needs soccer? After all, it's only played throughout the world - which means that it's a bit more difficult to be crowned "world champions"...

As things go, I wouldn't be surprised if England misses outon 2018, with Arab oil money securing the 2022 edition for Qatar...

Looking at the presentation by the U.S. to get the World Cup, it looks the same, in essence, as the presentation put forth by the "Chosen One" when trying to secure the Olympics for Chicago. A big claptrap on diversity and how wonderful it would be, etc. etc. These folks appear to have no idea on what motivates people groups like FIFA or the Olympics folks to make a decision (or any group/company/person being "sold" to), what's in it for them? The presentation should focus entirely on infrastructure, facilities, big buck$$ for all, fantastic event presentation, etc. Not how "Multi Kulti" we are, nobody in business to make a profit give a rats ass about any of that.

England only got 2 votes and so was eliminated in the first round. Even Belgium/The Netherlands got more votes which is just embarrassing. So there really was considerable anti-English sentiment. (The Spanish were so crass they even alluded to English press coverage in their formal presentation). The US at least made it to the last stage of voting but still - Qatar! Are you kidding me?!

I figure for Qatar to get the games the level of kickbacks must have been tremendous! I'm sure the FIFA brass are at the showrooms right now picking out their new Bentleys, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Rolls-Royces, etc.

No kidding. So how exactly will these games be played in the summer heat of Qatar? Do they plan on building several air conditioned domes?

They are going to have 12 air conditioned outdoor stadiums.

Then, they will dismantle them and give them to poor countries.

Qatar getting the WC would be even worse than Rhode Island getting the whole NCAA Tourney.

Rebajo, You are hilarious. The US media also has contempt for soccer.

What does "down the TAB" mean?

It looks like every formerly white country has to be diverse now. I am sure Japan didn't use that when they bid for 2002 WC.

"Down the TAB",means that someone is at the TAB,which are betting shops run by the Totalisator Agency Board, which are regulated by the various state governments of Australia.

Sepp Blatter quoted by the Guardian on the World Cup hosting fallout:

"I really sense in some reactions a bit of the arrogance of the western world of Christian background. Some simply can't bear it if others get a chance for a change," Blatter told the Swiss weekly magazine Weltwoche. "What can be wrong if we start football in regions where this sport demonstrates a potential which goes far beyond sport?

Just when I thought I couldn't dislike Blatter anymore than I already do.

Europe - Table tennis was (surprise, surprise) invented by the universally-despised British
smiley2.gif
. This fact in turn raises the question of what the fish-faced fellows of China and the rest of east Asia would be obsessed with had this game not been developed by the "foreign devils" of the West...

The decision to grant Qatar the right to host the World Cup is congruent with the direction in which "modern" football is heading, epitomised by the quote from Sepp Blatter which Matra1 provided above. That sweltering pile of sand and camel sh*t has a population less than that of the likes of Latvia. The Qatari national team possesses a proud record indeed, crowned by the glorious "achievement" of never having actually qualified for the finals tournament.

I'll wager that as You are reading this very post, the Qataris are planning a program to bribe and consequently "naturalise" as many third and fourth-rate Brazilians as possible in the leadup to the 2022 tournament, with the aim of ensuring that their team is "competitive" (or at the very least doesn't cop a flogging in all three first round matches). They shall probably field ten Brazilians with an Arab goalkeeper who will conveniently double as the captain.

Here's an article of related interest:

Barcelona & Qatar Foundation agree £125m shirt deal

Barcelona have ended their long term stance of refusing commercial shirt sponsorship by signing a record £125m deal with the Qatar Foundation.

The Catalan giants have paid to carry the Unicef logo for the last five years and the children's charity will share shirt space with the new sponsors.

Barcelona have a sizeable debt but now claim to be "the undisputed brand leader in world football".

The deal will be worth £25m a year from next season through until 2016.

In July, an audit revealed Barcelona's debt to be £369.5m after a loss of more than £64.36m in the 2009/10 season.

The new sponsorship arrangement could free up some transfer funds for coach Pep Guardiola - who worked as an ambassador for Qatar's successful bid to host the 2022 World Cup.

The Qatar Foundation is a non-profit organisation concerned primarily with education projects in the Middle East.

It is chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, the wife of the Emir, who was central to Qatar's final World Cup bid last week.

Senior club executives said the deal was a "remarkable milestone because it represents a record level of revenue for a football club and has more value still in the current economic climate".

Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid each earn about £20m a year for their rights, while Bayern Munich make closer to £23m.

Marketing experts will seek to find a way for both logos to be displayed on the Barcelona shirts, although if that is not possible the Qatar Foundation will take priority.

So,Pep was campaigning against his own country.

Europe - Guardiola wasn't technically campaigning against his country, as the Spain / Portugal bid was for the 2018 edition, but it says a lot about the complicated, supposedly reciprocalbackroom deals which take place, ultimately involving huge amounts of money, which can indirectly flow to all kinds ofdestinations (e.g. clubs, as opposed to federations). It's no coincidence that Barcelona announced this shirt sponsorship deal with a Qatari "non-profit organisation" (out of all things) just over a week after the hosts were officially announced.

One wonders how much the Qataris bunged the likes of Guardiola and Zidane to act as "ambassadors" for their bid. After all, these Gulfcamelmerchants don't exactly have any world-class footballers of their own (or any "class" footballers of their own) to act in such a capacity...

The fact that England and the USA already have the infrastructure might have even worked against them. Not only can they be relied upon to come in last minute if the Russians or Qataris can't deliever but for all we know FIFA reps may be in on many of the infrastructure contracts. There wouldn't be much of that in England or the US because everything is already built.
