Kenteris had more than a brief moment of top.He won the
Olympics in 2000,the World Championships in 2001 and the
European Championships in 2002.He was simply the best
200 meter sprinter in the World for 3 to 4 years. He still
has never tested positive but regardless,he has been
banned from track while other sprinters like Gatlin are
racing.Justin Gatlin tested positive coming out of college
but they let him off.Gee,I wonder why?A white sprinter
will never get the benefit of the doubt.

McBride, pull your head out of the sand!! Lewis tested positive for stimulants in 1988 and it was covered up by the USOC. There are steriods such as HGH that can't be detected through standard tests. Most of these top sprinters have rumors swirling around them about illegal drug use. Do a little research.

http://www.time-to-run.com/drugs-in-sport/articles/speculate .htm

"This year 2003, it was disclosed that Carl Lewis tested positive for a substance in 1988 but it was not deemed serious enough to pursue. So they say. The only thing in Lewis' favour is that he is not muscled like the rest of the gorillas."

"Also in the document regarding 1988, it is mentioned that 8 members of the US team had tested positive however it was covered up by their organisation."

Hey steve:

I have to admit ,i've read all the articles regarding Cral Lewis' drug accusations, and It was also mentioned in his biography (- Beyond The Glory). However I also believe there is not enough evidence to leak any distinct fact for his perfomance. Atleast, I don't think there is a definite answer. So reconstructed speculations on black people's achievements do little to prove anything for me. I certainly wouldn't trust the judgements of anti-black based articlesdirected atCarl Lewis, or any black athlete for that matter.(especially if the articles has words like "gorilllas")

I think what happened to Montgomery was tragical. Something we ,in the black community refer to as "greed".That Montbomery wasnt happy with his speed., He wanted to be faster, and thus got busted

Butother guys:::.Maurice,Crawford,Obikwelu,Zakari,Powel, etc who have ALL broken the 10sec barrier, are innocent until proven guilt. .Dont you think?

Drugs have corrupted all sports, so I have my suspicions about all of the guys you mention. Montgomery and Marion Jones are good examples of the power that drugs have on performance. They aren't competitive at all now. Twenty years ago, a time of 10.1 would get you a medal at a major meet, now with that time you would be lucky to get in the final. Until the track & field organizations get serious about punishing drug users, I will be suspicious. The evidence of drug abuse is too overwhelming to anyone paying attention.

I agree. All you have to do is look at these guys.It is not
only steroids but also drugs like HGH that cannot be
detected. If you look at Barry Bonds,& then look at Maurice
Greene, they have alot in common. They both as grown men
have seen their heads increase in size. This is not possible
after you quit growing unless your on HGH.Bonds has
changed hat sizes 3-4 times over the last six years.Look
at Mo in sprinting and alot of the other sprinters. They
also are vascular like a bodybuilder. The best way to
compare it is to compare a natural bodybuilder to the
popular bodybuilders like R.Coleman,J.Cutler,D.Jackson,etc.
Look at the Fake Wrestlers in the WWF,they are all on it.
You just can only be so vascular naturally. These sprinters
like other athletes have veins coming out of places that
is so far from natural. They are like a road map.It is
really disgusting to see any athlete totally roided out!

I stand corrected. For some reason I thought the "Triple Crown" took place over a shorter period of time. Good for him!

It is true that he never tested positive, but what if he was a THG user, and that syringe full of THG had never been sent to that lab? Kenteris would still be considered one of the greatest white athletes in many years. He would be a great inspiration to the rest of us. And he possibly could've one another Gold medal. And it doesn't matter if he was on something because so is everybody else. Maybe we need to have a drug policy similar to the military: Don't Ask Don't Tell!

If that ends up being true, then why not?Beat them at their own game.I just want to see our sprinters winning medals on a consistant basis.Good genetics+hard training+supplements=wins on the track. These sprinters are
some of the strongest athletes for their size.Up their clos e to a gymnast.I've always loved speed in all sports.

Carl Lewis: 'Who cares I failed drug test?'
http://sport.guardian.co.uk/athletics/story/0,10082,942248,0 0.html

"...admitting he had tested positive for banned substances ... Lewis has
now acknowledged that he failed three tests during the 1988 US Olympic
trials, which under international rules at the time should have prevented
him from competing in the Seoul games two months later."

Just one of dozens upon dozens of stories on Lewis and his drug use
through his career.   The article goes on:

"The admission is a further embarrassment for the United States Olympic
Committee, which had initially denied claims that 114 positive tests
between 1988 and 2000 were covered up."

Most of these positives were from sprinters, no doubt enjoying protective
coloring over the years. Do your homework and look at how long US
officials covered up for doped sprinters. Shot putter here and there?
Acceptable to have him hung out to dry. Sprinter? Female athlete?
Sacrosanct. Like Lewis. He turned out to be a bigger cheat than Ben
Johnson ever was.

On the subject of a sub 10 by a white sprinter, I think it will be someone
who isn't even on the radar yet. Wariner and others have begun to inspire
people. Kids on the way up will naturally "fight authority" in some cases.
That authority tells them they can't sprint. Wariner, Rock, Unger and
others show that isn't the case. The whole mess of a 'system' in the US is
going to go belly up, including the caste system. It will get worse before
it gets better, but there are a few bright spots. The US has had 4 white
sub 45 sprinters the last 3 track seasons. If someone would have
suggested that 4 or 5 years ago, most people would have laughed. The
sub 10 white kid is 2 to 4 years off, but when one hits, there will be
another, then another, and so on. Look at Steele, then Potter, then
Wariner, then Rock...

Drugs? Seems as if blacks have been the biggest offenders, but enjoy the
much the same coddling in sports as they do from the anti white
government we enjoy, academia, the media and so on. This is why so
many people think Carl Lewis was clean. Of course, there are the
disingenuous internet trolls who do know better, but continue to spread
lies. I suspect more than a few have visited here.

It is pretty obvious when the drug abuse began. If you look at the sub-10 sec 100m times, only 5 of those occurred before 1985. Of those 5, only 2 were not at altitude. Since 1985, there have been over 200 sub 10 times, right during Carl Lewis' heyday.

I believe that steroids have permeated T&F from high school on up. In 1986, during my senior year in high school, we ran at a track meet against mostly black schools. At the meet, the great Joe Deloach (1988 200m Olympic Champ)was at the meet and I was in awe of how fast he was. He demolished everyone by 5 yds in the 100m (ran like a 10.2 100m). He looked like he was about 25 yrs old and was cut like a bodybuilder. I was young and naive, but from what I know now, he was definitely on the juice.

Great article, Colonel, thank you! 114 tests, wow.

The whole thing is under such a huge cloud of suspicion. It would be nice if the 100m got clean and our guys could compete. But I suspect that black athletes will continue to have access to designer steroids and/or other substances while the white 100m sprinters toil in relative obscurity, known only in their own countries (and us.) I wish I could be more optimistic. But I would love to be wrong.

Great point. But do you think that maybe it started earlier for some of the European/ Russian sprinters? What was the time period when the Soviet Union had a steroids program? I'm not that familiar with it.

JD074, you are right in suspecting blacks will have 'access' to the
designer drugs. This points out that the problem is larger than sports
per se, it is truly political. Sports are but one front being used against
whites, to ruin self esteem etc. As was done with the sprints, distance
running has been hammered by drug use, and the intimidation has
worked, with few whites participating, and the ones that do race concede
to the E. Africans or Moroccans, etc. The whole coverup in that area of
the sport has been as bad as the politics protecting dark sprinters since
the early 70's. The brainwashing works, as you can see from remarks by
the trolls and the totally clueless kids at letsrun, not to mention the
deliberate downplaying of facts by the folks at SI and Track and Field
News. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, while blacks may have higher
percentages of people with talent in certain areas or disciplines, what we
now see is artificial in terms of dominance or numbers. But it is
calculated. If drugs can be found to make blacks excel beyond whites in
strength events, the relentless hammering from the media telling 'us' this
is the way things are supposed to be would be 'deafening'.
