Liverpool looks like a good pick to win it all. I also hope Burnley does well.

I see the blackest team - Portsmouth - looks set to be relegated. They currently have ZERO points! Can the racism and falseness of the Caste System be more apparent?

Thanks JC, but I'm not infallible. I realize that I mixed up Hull with Wigan, an error that will soon be corrected in the text.

Like Hull they are a team from a small, unfashionable Northern city with plenty of Black players.

It's interesting that you named Liverpool, even after Reina said they don't have much of a chance. Babel seems to be getting a lot of criticism from even the US pundits, who generally praise black players.
If Joe Cole stays healthy, Chelsea might have a shot.I tnink Man United could also do it.

How do you think Ashley Cole is playing? I heard one announcer say he is the best left back in the world at the moment. I can't judge it.I don't know as much about football as you and it's very hard for me to judge defenders.

Karl, Can you name any top notch black midfielders like Gerrard,Lampard, Xavi, alonso, Barry, Joe Cole, Ribery? People mention Essian a lot, but he is not in their league. He doens't have the play making ability.

Who do you think the best black African player is? Essian, Adebayor

None of the teams in england seem to have much of a chance of winning the champions league, that trophy will probibly be won by one of the spainish giants like madrid and barcelona. They have talents like xavi, iniesta, ronaldo, messi, kaka, the english teams can't compeat with that. Juventus may also challenge for the champions league but I still believe barcelona will defeat anyone they come up against (i say this as a juventus fan). In my opinion the best black player (i'm guessing you're refering to the ones that play inengland) is drogba. I can't stand him as a person or chelsea as a team but he is on a tear.

There are very few top black midfielders. They are much more successful in defense and attacking positions. Goalkeepers are also predominately white. The black midfielders that have made it tend to be defensive 'mop-up'/'break up the attack' midfield players. ie: Viera, Toure, Seedorf.

The best black midfielder would have to be Eissen - he is not very creative but has a wide range of more defensive midfielding skills. I would rate Eto as the best African player - a deadly striker.

Man united are favourites to win the English league again in my book. No other English team plays as a unit like they do. The completely white looking mixed race Giggs, and the old timer Scholes are playing brilliantly so far this season, and they have Englands best strikers - Rooney and (arguably) Owen (if he finds his previous form), both fast skillful white players. Ive heard multiple strikers including Adebayor say that the defender they like to play against least is Man United's Serbian Vidic, and when their dutch goalkeeper Van der sar (top 3 in world) comes back its gonna be heard to score past them.

Hull and Wigan, like Portsmouth, are small teams that inexplicably have a ridiculously dispraportional amount of black players - either the managers prefer to buy black players or its a coincidence, but it seems like the former to me. I guess it would be fine if these teams do well - but right now Hull and Portsmouth are last and second to last, whilst Wigan are mid table.

Vidic is a very physical defender and he doesn't take much crap off of anyone. i enjoy the way he plays the game in the back, and i can understand why strikers would hate going up against him.

on a bit of a side note, who would you guys rate as the top 5 keepers and the top 5 strkiersin the world at the moment?

You don't have Gerrard in the top five? Zidane called him the best player in the world. Messi is listed as a forward on the Barca web site.He is not a midfielder. There isn't a definitive anwser on what a forward is or a midfielder once you get on the field. It's interesting that on the REal Madrid web site Ronaldo is listed as a forward and kaka a midfielder. Kaka plays so much more up front that I always thought of him as more of a forward. On wiki,he is called a 2nd sriker.

What about Ferdinand.Danny Alves name is mentioned a lot as a top defender.

I missed Alves but i wouldn't include ferdinand in the top five, he isn't even the best defender on his team. As you said there is no definitive answer as to what consitutes a forward and midfielder when you step on the field so it's hard to list messi as either one. As for Gerrard, look at the list of midfielders i put in the top five, is he without a doubt better than any of them?

Cole is playing well and is very good as an attacking full back although defensively he is no more than adequate. Best left back in the world? perhaps one of the best although there are a lack of really good ones in the world soccer.

I can not think of any top class playmaking Blacks, so I quite agree about Essien. Quite a few strong, athletic types in midfield but they lack imagination and finesse.

Drogba is the best black African player in the Premiership in my opinion.

After their worst sequence of results since 1987, I was beginning to lose faith in my prediction that Liverpool would finish top this season, but a strong performance against Man U, whom they beat 2-0, has put it back on course - and this was without Steven Gerrard! The key moment in a cagey, hard-fought game was when Torres, with searing pace, shrugged off Ferdinand and with clinical accuracy put the ball high into the net past Van der Sar.

Arsenal and Man City meanwhile dropped 2 points each against two teams from the bottom half of the table.

Arsenal, after being two goals in front, were let down by indiscipline among their Black defenders as West Ham came back to make it 2-2. The first West Ham goal came from a free kick given away by Clichy. Next, after ignoring a strong penalty claim for a foul by Gallas on the Englishman Parker, the referee had no alternative but to give a penalty for Song's foul on Cole. The fact that Cole was Black may also have been a factor in giving the penalty.

I could actually watch the Liverpool vs Man Untd game because they had few black players playing and no drumming. Although, there were many foreign players. It seemed like Carragher playerd better. He had some problems the last few games.

After almost losing faith in my predictions, Liverpool's slowly improving form and rising position, has partly restored my faith. Good to see Man City lose to Hull, and Chelsea may have problems in store now that Terry is in trouble and Black culture dominating.

If I were to make predictions now, I'd go for Man U to win it, but I'm the stubborn type and like to stick to my guns, so I'll stand by my start-of-season predictions to the end, bitter or otherwise.

mysteriously Portsmouth have turned white! At the beginning of the season they were the blackest team the premiership has ever seen (the baton now passed to Wigan), but yesterday 8 out of ten of the starters were white.

Its not helped them mind you - they are a team recently knocked together and constantly changing in which the individuals have yet to cohease into a whole. An improvement unlikely to happen with the chaos going on at the club now - players not getting paid etc.

Wigan is now by far the blackest team in the league. Their manager only seems to buy black players.

Liverpool are currently the whitest team in the league, with just one mixed race starter in their last game (ngog).

Karl, good for you for sticking to your guns. Even if it doesn't turn out the way you thought it would, you tried based on what you knew at the time. That's all anyone can do, and you can't get it right all the time.

I was able to see Everton vs. Liverpool. In my opinion, Landon Donovan has finally found a good club in Europe to get the chance to display his talents. Here in the US, Donovan, is unknown except to diehard soccer fans. He is as much of an athlete as just about any NBA player, but being white, and choosing soccer, he makes a fraction of what one of the NBA thugs such as Gilbert Arenas makes ($20 million/year). He has shown against Arsenal, Man City and now Liverpool, he has the speed, and skill to be a star. If Donovan had grown up in another era, he would have been an NFL Pro bowler at WR or RB. His speed and explosive is almost unmatched. In the 2002 WC he ran rings around Germany but he hadn't developed his finishing although he scored 2-3 goals in the WC. He can match any Brazilian in speed and explosiveness, but not skill. He is already the top player on Everton. Yesterday,he played well against Liverpool, despite, the stupid tactics of Everton playing the ball repeatedly down the same side (opposite Donovan's side), then using high balls against a team with a height advantange. Liverpool had trouble with Donovan's speed. His teammates are not used to playing with him enough, to get him the ball more often where he can use his speed to score or stretch the defense to create more space for other attackers.

Solid post about Landon Donovan.

Landon has long been my favorite soccer player in the States and I expect him to have a very solid performance in the upcoming World Cup. He truly has world class speed and I have never heard a forty time on the guy but I would guess it's at least a 4.4 but more likely a 4.3.

Colonel Reb,

Thanks. The way I see it a prediction is a prediction and it wouldn't be a prediction if I started changing it, and I still believe that the Whiteness of Liverpool will pay ultimately pay dividends and that Chelsea's Blackness will prove a major hinderance at some stage.

On the subject of Chelsea, I recently caught a flight with the Chelsea B-Team and was surprised to see how White the team was. Out of a squad of around 15 or so, I think I saw 1 or 2 non-Whites, and one of them might just have been another passenger. I got talking to the physio.

The reserves? Who were some of the players that we might know?

I'm not that familiar with the Chelsea B-squad that I would recognize them on an individual basis. They just happened to be on the same flight as me. But, still, good to see lots of young White players being developed.
