Bob Probert, Stu Grimson, and Tony Twist were the last great
fighters of the NHL. When a fight occurs in the "new NHL", the
opponents grab and angle themselves while they play out the
love scenes from Brokeback Mountain. Probert fought like a
bare-knuckle boxer from the 1930's. He was the greatest of all
time.

I play hockey, so I feel empowered to comment on this subject. A lot of names can be thrown out there when claiming who is currently the best fighter. However, a number of guys come to mind.

First, Matt Johnson (Wild?) is a tussler who took down Brashear in a rough scrap once.

Next is Scott Parker who also fed Brashear his lunch a few times, and rarely loses to anyone. I remember seeing a fight between these two a couple of years ago, when Parker was still on Colorado. He hit Brashear so hard with a shot to the side of the head, his mouthgard flew, horizontally, out of his mouth.

Many people (not on this site) would say that Peter Worrell is top notch, but he's just really tall, with a long reach, nothing special. I've seen Tie Domi, who is significantly shorter (but 10x as feisty) handle Worrell relatively well. Domi has very quick hands, therefore, he's effiecient in a scrap.

Rob Ray is another one of my favorites. He's average height and kind of wirey in build, but he can throw hands with the best of them.

Cam Janssen is not one of the best, but I saw him land some notable shots in game one against a Carolina player the other day. His opponent (I forget who exactly) was a lot bigger then he, but Janssen handled himself well.

I'll give it to Brashear, he can fight. Although he generally picks fights with people significantly smaller then him. But hey, if he wants to be the bully of the schoolyard, then thats his choice. As for general hockey talent...he has none. \

tThis list can go on and on and on, but these are the first players I could think of. Anyone else, please feel free to add onto my list if you want to.

years ago but not too long ago there was this polish hockey player on the Nj Devils. This guy was a absolute beast.I remember friends telling me that he took alot of martial arts and learned different types of fighting techniques so he can incorporate them into hockey. This guy used to beat the sh*t of his opponents.Just a beast.I wish I knew his name.I believe he played for the devils in the mid to late 90's.

Tie Domi is my favorite hockey player of all time. He's Albanian, and not only did he handle Worrell rather easily, but also Donald Brashear as well

The 70's was the golden era of fighting. The alltime penalty minutes leader was Dave the Hammer Shultz, Tiger Williams was up there and one of my favourite tough guys was a North American indian named Stan Johnathan. He was undersized at 5'9" but he took on everyone. He looked like a hockey version of the prime Mike Tyson.....
