mostly white Notre Dame took out all-black-but-one Kansas State last night on national television.

Dick Vitale's love affair with KSU's Michael Beasley was ruined when Luke Harangody, Kyle McAlarney and company adjusted in the second half to the refs letting the homeboys slap and grab.

it was a physical contest with the refs swallowing their whistles and letting everyone play. and ND played tougher.

Harangody, a big sophomore, stole the attention from the big-time freshman despite Dickey V's repeated verbal romance with KSU's "phenom." Harangody had 19 points and a career-high 14 rebounds to lead Notre Dame to its fourth straight win, 68-59.

Beasley, the Kansas State freshman who leads the nation in scoring and rebounding, had a big first half with 17 points but managed just two in the second against Notre Dame's collapsing defense.

"We did a better job on Beasley in the second half," Harangody said after the game. "It was a very physical game. I was a little surprised. We got used to it and held our own."

Kyle McAlarney had 18 points, including the final nine for the Fighting Irish (6-2) over the last 6 and a half minutes.

I'm glad ND won but when I was watching they only had 2 whites on the floor. Better than most, but I need 3 white starters to get excited about a caste breaker.

Liverlips...I watched the game as well and they did have three white starters. Guard Kyle McAlarney and forwards Harangody and Kurz. So you can root for them now.

Two white starters is enough for me.

try watching a little more basketball or checking out the info online before you make such a dumb statement. as Guest301 pointed out, ND does start 3 white guys, and they often have 4 white athletes on the court at a time.

you should check them out, the trio of Harangody, Kurz, and McAlarney are pretty fun to watch.

This is kind of off-topic, but relevant nonetheless. We live in Kansas City, so the Kansas Jayhawks are the big team out here. My uncle is a big Pitt basketball fan. He has been critical of KU ever since Roy Williams left because they have very few White players anymore. However, I was watching a Pitt game the other night, and they don't have any White players AT ALL. Suspiciously, he never says anything about that.

white fans' loyalty to "their" team boggles my mind. i know lots of people who root for teams whose rosters are laden with "people" that make the fans sick... yet the fan loyalty remains true.

i can't cheer for a team that plays thugs whose values are an insult to mine and don't play athletes who look like me.

I totally agree, and it matters not to me what sport it is. "Team" people make me more upset with each passing day. Reminds me of a saying from the early days of integrated high school football. One man or coach from one team would say to a white man who supported the opposing team,"don't let your n*****s hurt our colored boys." People with a team mindset see things through rose colored lenses 99% of the time. Edited by: Colonel_Reb

two mostly white, and VERY talented teams played a very physical game on Monday night, in a match-up of possibly the two best teams on the West Coast.

#19 Gonzaga with a 7-1 record entering the contest, faced off against intra-state rival #6 Washington State (7-0 before the game), in a hard fought, often ugly, defensive battle.

Aron Baynes, the 270-pound center for the Cougars, scored 13 points, nine in the second half, and the Cougars' stifling defense dominated in a 51-47 victory over the 17th-ranked Bulldogs. it was Gonzaga's first-ever loss at home while ranked, ending a 55-game streak.

The Cougars defense forced a halfcourt lockdown that held the generally uptempo Zags to their lowest point total since losing 71-47 at Southern Utah on Dec. 23, 1996. Gonzaga shot 26 percent, but it seemed even lower.

The Cougars' clinging, man-to-man defense harried Gonzaga into rushed shots, denied even the simplest passing lanes and kept the Bulldogs without a field goal for the final 5:15.

Matt Bouldin, the Bulldogs' leading scorer coming in, went 0-for-9 from the field (mostly in the first half) with the taller Kyle Weaver (WSU's lone black player) blanketing him most of the night. Bouldin, who was averaging 14.4 points, finished with zero.

high-flying Zag guard/forward Micah Downs had made some playful comments before the game that said WSU was the second-best team in the state (Gonzaga is also in Washington state, for those who don't know), but was rightfully respectful after the game.

"They beat our butts," Downs said. "Good luck to them the rest of the season." Downs had 11 points and a team-high 8 rebounds in the loss.

despite WSU's defense, Gonzaga still had a chance to win because of their own good defense. but two factors prevented the Zags from ever getting over the hump. their names: Jeremy Pargo and Austin Daye.

unlike Bouldin, who had a terrible shooting night but didn't force many bad shots, Pargo and Daye repeatedly took terrible, TERRIBLE shots. to make matters worse, they didn't get the ball to Downs and Pendergraft when they got hot in the second half, freezing out the white men while they continued to throw up enough bricks to build an addition on the McCarthey Athletic Center.

they each hoisted up a game-high 11 shots, most of them bad decisions, with Pargo making just 4 and Daye making just 1.

despite the two ball hogs, Gonzaga still kept the outcome in doubt until WSU's point guard Taylor Rochestie hit the clinching 3-pointer with 29 seconds left to seal the deal.

Gonzaga, (though not as white-friendly as in year's past) still starts 3 white players. they are also without dominant, high-flying forward, Josh Heytvelt (Heytvelt hasn't played yet this season with a stress fracture in his foot). when he returns, the Zags should start 4 white men, improve dramatically, and be a legitimate Top 10 team.

David Pendergraft reacts after a frustrating call in the second half. Pendo had a game-high 15 points in the loss.

aronbaynes-1.jpg

Aron Baynes has proof it was a physical game. in fact, there wasn't a foul called on the play. Baynes had a team-high 13 points and added 7 rebounds in the win.

the Santa Clara Broncos (the alma mater of Steve Nash and Kurt Rambis) has a history of very white teams, and this year is no different as they start 4 white men, and 8 white athletes see significant action. currently, the Broncos are 5-2.

they are led by HUMONGOUS junior center John Bryant. Bryant has a soft touch and pretty good footwork, and with his tremendous size he is hard to stop. however, his fitness level is always a concern...

point guard Brody Angley is a creative playmaker and a much better athlete than people give him credit for. few know that he was a record-setting running back in high school.

forward Mitch Henke is a glue guy who can do a little bit of everything.

talented and athletic Australian small forward Ben Dowdell has started every game as a true freshman.

sophomore Jonathan Gunderson, freshman Michael Santos, freshman Andrew Zimmermann, and sophomore Zac Tiedeman round out the regular white players who average double-figure minutes.

the Gaels from Saint Mary's and their three white starters are still undefeated.

they will be playing 7-1, nearly all-black San Diego State on Saturday...

the Gaels are led by BIG man Omar Samhan. he's currently averaging 14.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds.

forward Ian O'Leary and guard Todd Golden are the other white starters.

Australian guard Carlin Hughes and Australian forward Lucas Walker average over 10 minutes a game off the bench.

That's your opinion. I personally don't really care about the race of the players as long as the players stay out of trouble. To each their own though. I've started to sour on the Steelers lately for that reason. I can't stand that loudmouth idiot Joey Porter, and I'm glad they got rid of him. Oh well. I don't think I should get too far off topic.

Last night was really the first evening I spent this season watching a full college basketball game, and what I witnessed infuriated me. In both the Duke-FSU and North Carolina-Georgia Tech games, black players blatantly took aim at superior white players. Cheap shots were dished out at will. I mean, Paulus was punched in the back of the head while he was laying on the ground. Tyler H (who carried Carolina on his back) had dirty black players all over him. Not that the warrior cared, he's one tough dude and seems to get energized by the dirty black tactics.

The worst antics were exhibited by Georgia Tech's black head coach. This fool acted like a child, running onto the court, having to be restrained by assistant coaches, throwing tantrums, etc. For a grown man (who is supposed to set an example to his players) to act like this is beyond ridiculous.

As has been stated numerous times on this forum, black coaches bring down the universities that they coach. The positive effect of this rests in the fact that average white fans get to see this buffoonery. Thus, only liberal fools would ever desire to have a black coach represent their university.

Northwestern lost last night to Michigan State, but they kept it within 10-12 points until late.

mostly white Northwestern is very under-sized, and really only had 2 players that belonged on the court with MSU, though those two players kept them in the ball game.

sharp-shooting junior two guard Craig Moore is a prototype gym rat. he's not very quick, and he doesn't jump very well, but he is smart, plays tough defense, and can shoot your eyes out from DEEP. he had 28 points to lead NU in the loss, shooting 7-14 from 3-point range. he also had 3 steals and a blocked shot.

Kevin Coble is back after missing the first half of the season helping take care of his mother (who has cancer), and he is obviously Northwestern's best athlete and all-around best player. a long wing who can finish above the rim or from beyond the three-point line, Coble once again led the Wildcats in rebounding, with 6, and added 17 points on 7-14 shooting.

Coble and Moore were the only two NU players to score in double digits.

for Michigan State, Drew Neitzel only missed 4 shots all night, en route to 20 points and 5 assists.

Drew Naymick second in the Big 10 in blocks (and Michigan State's All-Time leading shot blocker) had 4 blocks and 8 rebounds.

Gorat Suton, second in the Big 10 in rebounding, had a quiet night with just three boards and two points, hitting his only attempt. but he did have four assists and ZERO turnovers.

#6 Washington State got upset on the road against Arizona last night, behind the red hot 3-point shooting of the Wildcats.

Chase Budinger had 22 points on 6-11 shooting, including four from three-point range. he also added 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

WSU's big men played well, but point guard Derrick Lowe had a rough night, not making a shot until less than 3:00 left in the game.

Duke took care of business against a hyped-up all-black Virginia Tech team last night, as well, destroying the Hokies in the second half 81-64.

in a very physical contest, Duke was simply tougher, both physically and mentally. and they turned a game that was close at the break into a blow-out.

Kyle Singler led the Blue Devils with 16 points, 9 boards, and 2 blocks. he also added 2 steals.

Greg Paulus handled the hate chants of the all-white student body like white players for Duke seemingly always do. by winning. he had 10 points and 3 assists while taking a physical beating, yet he had ZERO turnovers as he led the Blue Devils to the win.

mostly white Notre Dame went into #18 Villanova's house and dominated from start to finish.

McAlarney scored 30 points, and Harangody had 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead Notre Dame to a 90-80 victory.

ND had struggled mightily on the road this season, but today they had no part of that. Rob Kurz added 12 points for the Irish (14-4, 4-2 Big East) who hit nine 3-pointers and shot 51 percent from the field to earn their first conference road win of the season.

McAlarney was red hot hitting 10-15 from the floor and 5-8 from three-point range, while Harangody and the athletic Kurz controlled the paint on both ends of the floor.

#6 Washington State bounced back from their loss to hang on against Arizona State.

Derrick Lowe hit 18 points, all on threes to lead the Cougars. Taylor Rochestie chipped in 13 as the only other WSU player to hit double figures.

Wow, 11 out of 15 players on the WSU roster are white, 1 is Hawaiian. Definitely a team to cheer for, high ranked too!
