Jimmy Chitwood mentioned about the amount of top ten teams with white starters this year, and that inspired me to do a full survey of basically all the ranked teams plus "others receiving votes" which amounted to 43 teams. Of the top 25 teams from the USA today/BSPN poll we find
1-10
Arizona 2 white starters
Syracuse 1
Ohio State 1
Wisconsin 4
Michigan State 0
Wichita State 1
Iowa State 1
Louisville 0
Baylor 0
Villanova 1
10-25
Florida 0
Oklahoma State 0
Oregon 0
Duke 0
SDS 0
Colorado 0
Gonzaga 5
Mass 0
Kansas 0
Missouri 1
Memphis 1
Creighton 3
Iowa 3
UCLA 2
Others receiving votes from AP and USA polls
Pitt 0
NC 0
Conn 1
St Louis 2
Okla 1
South Miss 0
Illin 1
Cincy 0
Geo Wash 0
Toledo 1
Kansas State 1
Michigan 1
Texas 0
New Mexico 3
Harvard 1
Notre Dame 2
Arkansas 0
Xavier 1

Some bright spots but a ghastly group right now between 10-17. I got depth chart info from Real GM, an incredible site that has depth charts with players photos and looks very up to date.

Great analysis. Thanks for the hard work. So the teams to watch are Wisconsin, Gonzaga and Creighton from our perspective. Wisconsin reminds me alot of Stanford usually in both basketball and football. They are alot more fair to our guys.

Great work on this, referendum! There's a couple other teams outside this range I would watch out for too: Belmont (4 white starters; they beat Carolina at Chapel Hill, and they gave Kentucky a run at Rupp Arena as well), Butler (3 white starters; lost narrowly to both Oklahoma State and Villanova), North Dakota State (2 white starters, more get PT; beat Notre Dame already this year) BYU (5 white starters, hopefully they'll be hitting their stride soon), Princeton (11-2; 4 white starters; they have a chance to beat Harvard for the Ivy League Title), and Boise State (3 white starters; 11-3).

On a side note, Michigan State gives some time to 3 whites off the bench; Kenny Kaminski, Matt Costello, and Alex Gauna. Their minutes vary, but it usually is around 10 for two of them, and 5-7 for the other one.

i counted Michigan State as having 1 White starter when i initially mentioned this topic a few days back. that's because of the Spartans' 15 games this season, Costello has started 7 and Gauna has started 6. of course, a different interpretation would be possible.

interesting info, gentlemen.

I think Jimmy is right on Michigan State; a check of the box score shows that Costello did indeed start last night for the Spartans and play double digit minutes (despite not doing much).

All in all, I'd say that's an improvement; with the top teams at least having one whitey on the team rather than 0. In the other thread, Jimmy mentioned Duke was out of the top 10 for the 1st time in a long time, this coincidentally being the Dukie's first all-black year in probably forever. Another team I've noticed following this trend is Kansas, who despite their own "superman" in Andrew Wiggins and an-all black lineup, have already lost 4 games this year and have tumbled out of the Top 10 as well. Even though they've been mostly black, they've always had great white players like Cole Aldrich, Brady Morningstar, Tyrel Reed, and Jeffy Withey over the years. "Weird" right?

Nice that the Spartans may have one white starter. Unfortunately most of the other all black starter teams don't have a white player waiting in the wings to take over, except for Louisville with Han****. Anyway, glad you guys liked my list. Real GM is an amazing site for College Baskets.
