I am sickened that McGuffie got no carries with Minor out. Shaw was inneffective this game and they decided to then go to Brown who had had 3 carries all season. Rodriguez is an idiot and IMO Michigan may have won if he played Sam. Carlos Brown ran for 5 YPC coming in for Shaw, but there were a few beatifully blocked plays that I think Sam would have turned into even longer runs than Brown did.

All the sudden Michigan has added the element of the surprise draw play on 3rd and long which they never ran for McGuffie even once this season. That was one of two of Brown's long runs which he darted for b/c of the element of surprise. The blocking was porous for Sam in the first two games as Michigan was trying to figure things out, which helped make Sam's stats look horrible. I still believe Sam is the best RB on the team present day by a significant margin and he gets zero carries. [IMG]

IMO, Sam will have to decide next year if he wants to stay there. If Rodriguez doesn't play him next year he has to transfer no if ands or buts! [IMG]

I cannot stand RichRodriguez or his caste disiples at West Virginia. Where would you prefer him to transfer to Tough J?

What a game by Joe Martinek and John Goebel this week in the Big East though! Both these guys have surprising wheels for such big guys. Martinek runs as hard as a beast and had zero negative run plays! Martinek now has the 3 longest runs of the year for the team with the 2nd to least carries now of the 4 tailbacks getting playing time! The good news is Martinek looks to have taken over the second RB spot on the depth chart! I think he's definitely the best RB on the team, but this is still a victory for us! [IMG]

I would wait until after next year when they bring in their two new talented spread QBs to see if he gets playing time before transfering. But after next year Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Cincinatti, (Vanderbilt or Stanford if he can cut it academically), maybe even LSU because they have used white RBs; some of which aren't as talented as Sam; "maybe" even Ohio State because Tressel is better than RR and they have a great offense. Also, any school in the Mountain West "BYU?" would be salivating to have Sam as their future runner and he would surely get PT there, but he would need to choose a good offense.

To get noticed by the NFL you have to get at least a third of your teams carries and top it off with a good combine if you are invited. For a white RB we know they have to do even more to even get a sniff of a carry in the big leagues.

Bottom line is: Sam needs to carry his noteriety into the NFL by getting playing time and if Rodriguez is going to screw him he has to get the hell out of there!

I agree Tough J also do you think in college Sam wouldbe a better fit for a spread team or traditional running game? Personally i don't think it makes a difference but in a spread offense he might have more big play ability.

Jared Hawkins looked very good as he went 15/84/1 splitting the carries as Vanderbilt knocked off Grambling, er Kentucky.

    Stats complete.

Yes Don, Jared helped Vandy get to 6 wins and become bowl eligible first the first time since 1982! [IMG]Congrats to them, although I would much rather see Adams as the QB.

In the FBS yesterday, there were 3 whites who ran for over 100 yards, and we had 2 more RBsthat broke 100 in all-purpose yardage. In the FCS, there were 7 whites who ran for over 100 yards! [IMG]

Like I said, if I were him I might wait until after next year depending on the scent of things he gets from Rich Rod the rest of the year. The Wolverine offense will be much better in the next couple years with Tate Forcier or Shavrick Beaver and I still think Sam is meant for the spread. Sam's brilliant cutting ability and burst and also his ability to receive make him the perfect spread back.

There was "zero" reason for Sam to get zero carries with Minor out and Shaw struggling. The team has done nothing to help his career this year. They threw him into the mix day one when the rookie o-line didn't know what to do in the first two games. You should have seen Scout.com message boards after Sam's first game against Utah calling for his benching. Then RR and the DWFs blamed Sam (the white RB) for their failures at mid-season after praising him galore after the Notre Dame game (the 3rd game). DWFs are a very moody bunch.

The best indicator of future behavior by a coach and the mind-set of a team's fans is present behavior. If Sam does transfer he would have to look at the new team's depth chart, their past use of white players and of course see how badly the coach says they want to bring him in when Sam reaches out to other teams.

I am really not liking the smell of this after this game. One game can tell you a lot! Sam is still high on many NFL draft site's websites for the 2012 class, but he will drop quickly if he doesn't play. ESPN and Rivals had already done enough to belittle him and cause doubt with the DWFs. McGuffie is really the only white RB that has had any hype in the last 20 years. Brian Leonard destoyed his hype by coming back another year as a FB at Rutgers and then getting drafted by the Rams.

Tyler broke 80 yard TD run yesterday, this guy must have some speed, huh!

Tyler Roehl? Yeah that guy should be high on teams draft boards as a Jacob Hester type running back. He definitely has enough speed. I'd predict a mid to high 4.5 if he gets a combine invite.

I've been real disappointed in Coach Mike Bobo's lack of carries for Southerland & Chapas. Both as very atheletic & Brannan is the 3rd strongest guy on the team. Combine that with Bobo's limited passes to WR Kris Durham, and he's on my sh---t list with his caste-esque playcalling![IMG] [IMG]

Col, you might want to add Rutgers fullback, Jack Corcoran. he scored 2 receiving TDs over last 4 weeks and so far he has a nice catch today.

also, every time Colin Mooney gets a ball all they say is: big fullback with a carry, or something to that extent... have they seen this big fullback's stats?Edited by: backrow

Duly noted back, and thanks! I remember Jack but haven't really checked on him this season. That is just a shame what they are saying about Collin, as he is one of the best backs in the country, without a doubt.

Lucas Cox, Georgia Tech's fullback, had 8 carries for 78 yards-including a 32-yard touchdown, in Tech's win over the Miami All-Blacks the other day.

I haven't seen Cox mentioned in any of the recent weekly stats.

All you have to do is let me/us know Van, as I can't watch all the games to know who is getting what. Thanks for letting me know now anyway.

The thing about that is he also did it while missing most of 2 games due to injuries. Toby Gerhart could have possibly had between 1300-1500 yards if he had played every game and he did this on a very average football team with no passing game. They knew he was their only weapon and the teams still couldn't stop him. Even USC couldn't stop my main man Gerhart. What a season. If only they could have made a bowl game.

So if your Toby, do you shop your NFL potential or stay in school for your senior year. The money would be tempting, but I'm betting he comes back for a chance at a bowl game. That is every college kids dream. Congrats Toby on an amazing season.

Sorry Colonel_Reb, I was watching the Arizona Wildcats lose a 3rd heartbreaker of the year. They lost with 1 second left to Oregon State who is probably headed to a Rose Bowl against Penn State. That it too bad that they are not playing Goebel but we all know how that goes. I'm bummed today. Most of my teams lost and of course McGuffie got screwed over.
