Shinego is hurt for Navy and will not play week one. Bryant is playing QB. Finnerty and Doyle will play some slot. Just an FYI.

Surprisingly, the announcers have nothing but praise for him. Haven't heard any Caste-type remarks from them, but then again my dorm is kind of loud. The guys next door are playing the Rock Band videogame

Toby Gerhart is the player of the game! Of course he should be, but I'm glad they gave him some credit and interviewed him on the radio. Here's to hoping for a great year!

celticdb15, Kole is the real deal. Whether he gets a shot at the NFL is another story.

Man it's good too see the white brothers doing so well as I beleive we are all a family in this endeavor to change college football. I firmly beleive that their are more whites playing skilled positons now than in the past 20 years. Just last night Taylor Rank is the 2nd team running back for South Carolina. I almost beat up my TV because I did not think that was a white player back their at the start of the game. I really think that this site and maybe the fact that their are so many whites who are gifted athletically have lead to this transformation. Anyway it will be fun to watch all of the whites and non white who aren't black tear it up on the football field this year. Did this site have anything to do with the turnaround I would like to think that are hard work is paying off. I have not been more excited for a collge season than this one. Toby Gerhart if he keeps playing like this will garner heisman consideration how could he not.

Also for Eastern Michigan found a freshman running back Corey Welch 5ft 9in 185 lbs 5 carries for 65 yards. I don't know how he fell through the cracks, but I found him and all state wrestler and a track athlete as well. I will be paying more attention to their games now just to follow his progression.

Thanks for the info on Welch, White Power, I'll add him to the list. Looks like he's third string RB right now, but maybe he will continue to get carries after a strong showing last night.

Colonel don't you feel more excited now about the whites running the ball now than you did before? I hope you would share in my enthusiasm. More players are coming next year I'm telling you the gate is slowly being opened, and all it took was one coach to give a full back some carries at running back. That player went on to rush for a 1000 yards and lead his team to the national championship. I'm convinced Jacob Hester's success last year has lead to the resurgence of whites at the running back position.

There is undeniably a significant uptick this season in the number of whites "allowed" to run the ball. The list itself is far larger than previous years, now we have to see how many of them actually get opportunities as the season unfolds. And it's following an increasein the number of white receivers.

I hope it is a trend White Power, although I think its to early too call it one. I am enthusiastic about it, and looking forward to the season very much. I am hoping that I don't have to take off some of those players from the list because of them not getting to play. We'll see what happens in the first 3 weeks of the season. By then things should be sorted out a bit more. Then, if the list hasn't shrunk significantly, we can for sure say that the number of white RBs being used is on the rise. It was awesome to watch Jacob Hester run the ball last year and I hope to see a lot more of it this year and in the future! Edited by: Colonel_Reb

some news commentary on our guys from last night...

tobygerhart1.jpg

Toby Gerhart giving a go-to-hell to an OSU defender.

Toby Gerhart:
How about Toby Gerhart of Stanford? When I saw him rumble for 46 yards down the sideline...
Stanford and hard-chugging running back Toby Gerhart rumbled through Oregon State...
Gerhart (19 carries, 147 yards, two touchdowns) was that good against the Beavers. He just blotted out all other ideas and all other Stanford offensive problems... Still, for one night, it was all about Gerhart tearing through the Beavers' defense for 36 yards to set up Stanford's first score, Gerhart bowling over a couple of Beavers defenders two series later to score on his own from 46 yards, and Gerhart, Gerhart and more Gerhart.

Gerhart showed the same form he had in his one game last year when he ran for 140 yards against San Jose State. With the power to run through tackles and the speed to get to the outside, Gerhart rushed for two touchdowns in the first half and converted two third-and-longs to sustain drives in the second half.

"It feels like I didn't play football in two years," he said. "It feels good to be out there. I picked up where I left off. Now just keep it going."
apparently, not everyone got the memo.

John Goebel:
Elsewhere in the backfield, while Ramsey started the game as the team's number one running back, red shirted sophomore John Goebel quickly made his own case for top honors at the position. Fighting and powering his way through tackles all night, Goebel ran for 62 yards on his nine carries and a one-yard touchdown run with just under nine minutes remaining in the first half to give Cincinnati a 19-0 lead...

The dominating physicality of Goebel and others was one thing that made coach Kelly happy about the night's events.

"We ran physical," he said. "I mean, we lowered our pads, Goebel ran physical, Ramsey ran physical. So many times when you run a spread offense you get tagged as a finesse team. We can't be a finesse team. I thought we played physical tonight"

Having not played at the running back position since his days at Brother Rice High School in Milford, Michigan, Goebel felt an overflow of emotion following his impressive performance.

"I'm so honored to even just to be out there. I was really nervous when I first went out there. They called a few plays and I was kind of still giddy," said Goebel of his early time on the field Thursday night. "My offensive line they did such a great job... They made it easy for me."

****************************************

Kyle Minett:
Sophomore Kyle Minett carried 22 times for 111 yards and one score in his first game as the feature back.

as an aside, Minett replaced another white running back, the talented Cory Koenig, as the starting tailback for the Jacks. Koenig, who ran for 1,266 yards, caught 16 passes, and scored 16 touchdowns a year ago didn't even get a smell of the NFL.

Collin Mooney from Army runs for a game high 81 yards tonight off 26 carries against Temple. Its not even Saturday and a good number of white runners are getting their fair share of carries. I'm impressed.
