White Cornerbacks

Has anyone noticed there are fewer and fewer white corners every year. They are all getting converted. Chris Fox ( to safety ) at Boston College, Jake Jones ( wr ) at Alabama, we all know about Jordan Peterson, Cade Hulbert ( Boise State ) and Cory Young ( Nebraska ) arent even on their respective teams anymore, also Brock Fitzhenry ( Texas ) , Kyle McCarthy ( Notre Dame ) and Wake Forest incoming frosh Mike Companaro. DO these guys even get a chance. Tom Zibakowski was recruited as a corner and was converted to safety 2 days in becasue they daid he had a problem turning his hips to run with the receiver. What a crock!

Your right, I think the situation is getting a little worse at CB, but I think it is looking up some at RB. I don't know maybe they'll "allow" Brock Fitzhenry to play 3rd down RB at Texas instead of in the slot, although I doubt it, Texas is as pro-caste as they come. I don't think Fitzhenry will be playing CB at Texas that's for sure.

This year; Mike Campanaro should be either a RB or a CB, but he is being looked at mostly as a WR by Wake Forest. Rex Burkhead is another guy who would make a phenomenal RB, but college teams are trying to make him another slot WR. Huldon Tharp and Hunter Furr may be made a LB and Safety respectively; when at least Hunter Furr would be an impressive RB. But there are still a lot of recent recruits that have a shot at RB. Dierking, McGuffie, Martinek, Burroughs, DiLuiggi, Wegher, Trumpy etc. etc.

As I said things are looking up at RB, but down at CB. But to tell you the truth I am more interested in the RB position anyway. It is the second most glamorous position in the NFL.

BTW Chris Fox and Jordan Peterson are both fairly "impressive" CBs for quality football programs, but the caste coaches won't stand up to the "Rivals" media and rowdy drunken fans and let them play. Every mistake is magnified by their white skin. The drunken fans will scream "that's what happens when you let a white guy play CB!" -Idiots...Blacks can make multiple times the mistakes without it costing them their jobs or forcing a position switch!

The situation is pathetic.

It has become obvious that there isn't enough "black talent" for CB because many of them at "big time" programs can't get the job done and can't run proper angles to make the tackle.

Nebraska and Notre Dame have often been let down by their black corners. Nonetheless, we still hear all the "shut-down corner" BS!

I had a good time watching some of Alabama's DB's stink it up last year. Black DB's are far from "superhuman" and, since they have a near monopoly at the corner position, one can really see how watered-down the position has become. They are being EXPOSED on a large scale.

And, "team fans" do get upset that their precious affletes aren't superhuman, like how they are presented and described on "Recruiting services." They throw fits when "their" team loses.

One can't emphasize ENOUGH how much the College game has been weakened by ALL-black D-Lines and ALL-black secondaries. This is true of several starting line-ups and sometimes extends into the 2nd and 3rd strings.

An excellent point. Draft analysts always talk about how rare a shut down corner is. Nobody states the obvious fact that teams are ignoring or funneling away the other 88% of the American population.

Dustin Fox could be a border line Pro-Bowl Corner in the NFL IMO, SO could Eric Weddle although he will do well at Safety, so could Steve Gregory. A white guy who makes it in the NFL who they keep at CB has to be above and beyond his black peers to not get cut. The drunken fans and players just won't accept a white CB or RB. Every mistake is magnified because they already stand out to the drunken fans and peers as being "unnatural" for the position.

Nick Oppenneer

Nick Oppenneer, a junior, has won the starting spot at right cornerback. also, sophomore Scott Zick is in the mix to get a lot of playing time, as well. he is currently listed as second string, but he's been getting a lot of playing time with the starting defense due to injuries.

with Kubiak and Pagnotta set to start at the safety spots, and Jake Galusha and Zach Donaldson as their back-ups (with Galusha expected to play in the nickel), it is entirely possible for the Rams to have five white defensive backs on the game at one time this fall.

Good job Chitwood. I new of Openeer but not Zick. Also look for Billy Anderson to get some time at corner for Rutgers.

Ledger: CB Anderson getting noticed
by TOM LUICCI
Sunday August 12, 2007, 5:01 AM
Billy Anderson insists he didn't take it personally. QB Mike Teel said he was glad to hear that, because it wasn't personal at all.

For one stretch during yesterday's scrimmage at Rutgers Stadium, Teel attempted six straight passes. Five of them were directed at the wide receiver - usually star Kenny Britt - being defended by Anderson, a walk-on cornerback who has become a valuable reserve with injuries ravaging the secondary.

"That was mostly by offensive design. I know that," said Anderson, a third-year sophomore from West Orange. "The field was shorter to the side I was on. So it was a shorter throw for Mike. It was the easier route for them."

But a funny thing happened. Even though he was matched up with Britt on four of those pass plays, none were completed (Rutgers restarted a drive after one set of downs).

"It had nothing to do with Billy. He's doing a great job. It was because of the defense they were in," said Teel. "The plays we had were run-pass check plays against their blitz and we wanted to go to our 'X' (receiver), whoever it was, one on one."

That left Anderson alone against one of the best receivers in the Big East. But he more than held his own.

"You want that challenge," he said. "Playing against the receivers we have can only make me better."

Anderson played in one game last year (the second half against Howard), but suddenly finds himself in the mix as a backup corner and working with the first dime team. An injury to Leslie Jackman (hamstring) has Anderson battling with freshmen Brandon Bing and Al-Majid Hutchins, who struggled yesterday, for a backup role.

"I feel I'm ready to play if they need me," said Anderson.

Anderson earns place in Rutgers' corner rotation

PISCATAWAY -- Billy Anderson has a simple explanation as to why he decided to walk-on at Rutgers rather than take scholarship money at a lower-level college football program.

He gets matched up with Tiquan Underwood or Kenny Britt on a daily basis.

"They're two of the best receivers in the country without a doubt," said Anderson, a cornerback from West Orange. "Going up against them everyday certainly makes me better. You always want to go up against the best because competition brings out the best in everybody."

Now in his third year in Rutgers' program, Anderson has worked his way into the cornerback rotation, seeing most of his repetitions on the second-team.

The 6-0, 185-pounder played in four games last fall, recording one tackle in the International Bowl, but hopes his playing time increases with a strong preseason camp.

"I think I'm having a pretty good summer. There's definitely things I still need to work on, though," Anderson said. "Over the offseason I worked real hard to get stronger physically, because I knew I had to get better in run defense and on press coverage. My main focus was paying attention to details, and if they need me, I'll answer the call."

the only thing i find odd, is that this unheralded athlete can completely shut down Rutgers' top wide receiver, yet that only means he is in the rotation...

either Rutgers' corners are incredible, Rutger's best wide receiver sucks, or something doesn't make sense.

I was friends with Brandon Bing in high school, and he is one of the most tremendous athletes in the nation. He finished pretty high in national competition for sprinting, and went to Rutgers on a track scholarship. He then walked on and earned a football scholarship instead.

Even among overrated blacks, he's a freak athlete. However, I will of course be pulling for Anderson all the way.

have any of you guys seen/heard of Peter Ittersagen?

he's a tremendous kick returner, and regarded by some as possibly the best small-school corner in the nation. somehow this legitimate NFL prospect managed to fall through the cracks all the way down to Division III Wheaton College.

Hey, the Eagles drafted LB Andy Studebaker out of Wheaton, and he made their practice squad after being moved from DE! Maybe Wheaton was put on the map.

He would probably need a cool YouTube video like Studebaker had, first and foremost!
