The Carolina Panthers lost DeShaun Foster to injury and played Nick Goings and Brad Hoover. Unfortunately they had poor games, Hoover 5 /21/ 0, Goings 12 / 20 / 0
Look for a black retread to be picked up.

Cherbet led the Jets in receiving. 8 /90 / 0

Forsey was 13 / 44 / 0 so he will be benched next week.

Finneran for the Falcons was 3 / 45 / 0, Vick did not play well, the announcers said something was wrong because he kept overthrowing his receivers??? Isn't that what he always does?

Any other good news.

Eric Johnson had another monster game for the 49ers -- 13 receptions for 162 yards and 1 TD. He should be leading the league in receptions after this game. He has been unstoppable. His bugaboo has been injuries, if he stays healthy he could have over 100 catches.

Forsey had 13 carries to Leonard Henry's 5. Henry only managed 10 yards, so maybe Brock will be the main back this week. Considering the terrible offense he is on he did well today.

Kevin Curtis had a beautiful 41 yard TD catch to help the Rams in their comeback win over Seattle.

Stokley was quiet, but still had 3 catches for 41 yards.

Eric Johnson is 2nd in the NFL in pass receptions with
28 trailing only Isaac Bruce.Stokely has more yards
total as Brandon is ranked 9th in yards and Eric Johnson
is ranked 11th. They both are having good years so far.
I wish the Rams would use Curtis more as he is one of
their most explosive players. That kid can really run!
Patrick Kerney of the Falcons is leading the NFL in sacks
with 7 so far.I would love to see the Panthers start
Hoover like that Monday Night Game where he rushed
for 100 yards but it probably won't happen.Forsey did
a good job today in those conditions. He didn't start and
has never run behind that O-Line before.Almost 4 yards
a carry isn't bad for your first outing.Brock needs to get
20+ carries to make a impact.I'm rooting for him harder
than anybody to pave the road for future white running
backs to at least get a chance.

Reply Titans and Packers

Tennessee showed why they are one of my favorite NFL teams tonight. They have three white linebackers who were starting who are injured (Sirmon, Boiman, Calmus), yet still managed to start yet another one tonight, Brad Kassell. Rian Long, the 2002 Outland Trophy winner as college football's best defensive lineman, got a start tonight. Scott McGarahan, the veteran safety who used to play for Green Bay, played a lot and made some nice plays.

On offense, Tennessee showed that St. Louis is not alone in the NFL in playing more than one white WR at a time. Besides starter Drew Bennett, who had a nice game but just missed on a couple of long hookups from McNair that would have given him a huge game on national TV, Eddie Berlin played a lot and had some nice receptions, including a touchdown that survived a replay challenge. This is really the first time Berlin, a 4.4 burner who has been used as a kick returner and special teams demon, was allowed to play wide receiver in his four-year career with Tennessee. Bennett, the former QB at UCLA, threw a touchdown to Mason on a trick play.

I was happy to see the Titans crush the Packers. Mike Sherman, besides being an idiot when it comes to game strategy, is a strict adherent to the Caste Football theory of roster building. Besides Brett Favre, who was established as an all-time great long before Sherman came to Green Bay, the Packers' only white players are their offensive linemen (all-white with the possible exception of Marco Rivera who may be hispanic), and Aaron Kampman, a rising star at defensive end. No white tight ends on the roster, no white fullbacks, no white backups on defense. Green Bay was always one of the whiter teams -- even when Mike Holmgren was there and refused to develop white talent such as Jervey, Schroeder and McGarrahan -- but Sherman completely cleaned house. Here's hoping he gets fired as the Packers appear to be all but out of the playoff hunt.

I agree with you 100% on the Titans.Even Steve McNair
is a enjoyable qb to watch. He is 1000% better than the
super overhyped M. Vick.McNair is similar to Moon in that
he is a true quarterback. I love all of the white talent on
this team.It looks like Eddie Berlin is finally going to get
his chance.I loved the juke he put on the Packers CB!
Bennett is a stud and I enjoyed seeing him get to throw
that pass on that trick play.It would have been better if
Berlin was on the other end.Your right on about the
Packers and their white out treatment. Its sad in a state
like Wisconsin which actually produces alot of great white
talent.Look at the Badgers. They are 5-0 playing these
guys.I don't feel bad for the Packers, only for Brett.

Bennett should've had a big gain but was tripped up and the ref didn't throw the flag. It was so obvious. Even the commentators knew that he was ripped off. Bennett may be the only white WR who has a shot at 1000 yards- and a long shot at that. He will need somewhere around 65-85 yards per game, if he can stay healthy enough to play 12-16 games.

Reply 1000 Yard White Receivers

Don't forget about Brandon Stokley. He is well on his way to 1,000+ yards if he stays healthy. He is friends with Peyton Manning, and Manning is not afraid to throw the ball to a white receiver.

Stokley has 9 TDs in his last 11 games, going back to the end of the regular season last year and the playoffs, where he really shined. He had a TD catch this past Sunday that was overruled on a replay challenge by Oakland. With Marvin Harrison looking to be declining this year because of age and the Colts spreading the ball around more because of the availability of Stokley as a topnotch option, and Reggie Wayne being inconsistent, Stokley has a shot of being a major star this season on the best offense in football.

Also, Eric Johnson is on pace to have well over 1,000 yards too. He is a tight end not a wideout, but that makes what he is doing even more impressive. It's very rare for even black tight ends to end up with a thousand yards in a season. The last white one to do it was Mark Bavaro of the Giants in either '86 or '87.

Well heres hoping that all of those guys go over 1000
yards this season.I would also love to see the Titans
get Berlin more involved as well as the Rams playing
both Looker, and Curtis alot more.Maybe even Pyatt on
the Colts will get some catches this year.I feel really bad
for Schroeder,Farmer,Kircus, and Standeford. All four of these guys could be 1000 yard receivers if they were
given the opportunity.

Reply Re: Schroeder

Schroeder had that huge game on Monday Night, and hasn't played since. If he'd performed in a more "white-like" fashion, say 3 receptions for 37 yards and 0 TDs instead of 4/125/1, he'd probably still be playing regularly. I've even seen a couple of fantasy football services that charge $ denouncing him the past two weeks, saying he's disappeared following his big game. He hasn't played that's why! But they all love to hate Billy anyway.

Reply Stokely

It's good to hear that about Stokely. I haven't seen his stats- just a lot of great highlights! The play where he picked a Green Bay defender off of one of his own players was priceless. Being the third receiver, I wasn't sure if he'll get the consistent looks he'll need to get 65-85 yards per game- even if Harrison and Wayne have poor to mediocre years. And he's on a winning team, where they may be more likely to (foolishly) overlook him down the stretch. (Reminds me of BJ's article about stolen bases and how it helps to be on a team that isn't in the hunt.) And we know how bad the injury bug has been for these guys. I wish all of them the best.
