Looks like the long-haired Argentinian will be in the Pistons' regular rotation, behind Tayshaun Prince.

Walter Herrmann is a monster vs. Wizards
Reserve scores 16, dazzles the crowd

Walter Herrmann let everyone know Saturday night that he plans on being a permanent part of the Pistons' rotation this season.

The backup small forward electrified the Palace with 16 points, solid hustle and all-around play as the Pistons took control in the fourth quarter of a 117-109 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Toss in strong nights from former Wizards Rip Hamilton (24 points) and Rasheed Wallace (17 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots) and the Pistons are off to a 2-0 start entering a three-game trip that begins Monday with former Pistons coach Larry Brown at Charlotte.

"Walter Herrmann was great. Once again, I say with him, don't just look at the shots that he's making. He's going to make shots for us, but he does a lot of other things out on that court that we need," coach Michael Curry said. "His one-on-one defense and team help, and his ability to move the basketball offensively ... your offense seems to flow when he's out on the court because he doesn't hold the basketball."

The Wizards overcame an early 17-point lead and pulled to within 89-87 on former Piston Juan Dixon's 18-footer.

But the Pistons took over. Herrmann was active all over the floor, grabbing offensive rebounds and just being a pest to the Wizards.

He nailed a three-pointer to give the Pistons a 105-96 lead with 3:37 left, then his scoop shot in the lane with 2:58 left had the announced sellout crowd chanting his name.

Herrmann played 23 minutes mostly because the Wizards play a smaller lineup, and he teamed with Tayshaun Prince at the forward spot because Curry liked the matchup.

"It's unbelievable," Herrmann, who also had seven rebounds and four assists, said of the crowd reaction. "When we play smaller, we play very open. I just feel comfortable. When you play a lot of minutes, you are confident every single game."

I saw some of the game. I was shocked to see a white guy playing for the Pistons! He had a great game and I might watch some more if he gets decent playing time. I've always like Hermann especially from his Olympic play. That guy is a white warrior. I doubt he'll get intimidated by the affaletes in the league.
