Ron Artest officially changes name to "Metta World Peace"

I couldn't even think of a title for this post.

Does he think this will make people forget who he is?

How sweet. His daughter is also going to change her name from Diamond Artest to Diamond World Peace. Didn't we just have a thread recently that delved into I.Q. and the various races?:icon_rolleyes:

I am not an NBA fan as it has been borring to me since Bird retired in 1992 but I grew up a Saint Johns fan and I know more about Ron Artest than a few people. Clearly the guy is a thug but for what its worth he was the class valedvictorian of his school. That might not be saying much considering most inner city schools have a graduation rate of around 40 percent. I am going to take an uneducated guess and say that Artest has had some very questionable behavior in the past but it might be more for the image to sell jerseys. He actually might be smarter than some people might think. Many music artists say controverial things to sell their albums. Maybe this might be similiar. Maybe not.

Obviously it's to sell jerseys and increase his marketability. But Meta World Peace??? Geez, I liked World B. Free and Ocho Cinco better. I guess he's showing that he's a high IQ negro by picking a "smarter" name then say Lexuschampalecourvoisier Artest??
