In addition to Tyson Gay's positive test, there are reports that 4 or 5 Jamaican sprinters have also tested positive.
    Waiting for details.....

Everybody's crying over this stuff at T&FN site, but I think it's great! Let's get rid of as much as this bulls**t in the sport as possible....and there's a huge pile of it.

In addition to Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson (both already confirmed), there are rumors that the 3rd Jamaican sprinter is Nesta Carter!
Woohoo!!!! Finally these drug testers are getting down to business!

Bolt wont get busted and Blake's absence is due to muscle loss from not using PED's as much in the offseason.

Is anybody shocked by this? Gay has grown significantly since he was a collegian and Asafa is even easier to see the PED transformation. as a 20ish probably clean athlete Powell lined up in the 2003 worlds in Paris and was normal sized and by the time he was breaking world records he was built like a bull. I wish Lemaitre was running even 20 flat times and 10 flat times that could be medal contending times with the new wave of positive tests. PS I suspect the testers have figured out a new way to test samples and the old method of cheating is not going to pass anymore.....:mod:

Maybe Gay thought he was clean? But he isn't going the down the usual route of lying cheats he is blaming nobody officially and is saying someone in his camp gave him a tainted supplement....http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/t/story/tyson-gay-tests-positive-banned-substance-19661785

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS ABOUT TIME!

Question is will the Olympic committee take back all these medals from the Jamaican cheaters or they will act like nothing happened? Even the most stupid man in the world could tell that Jamaica has been cheating merciless. Bolt is next. The SHOCK of this summer will be the "death of the Jamaican legend".......Mark my words on this one!

Looks like the testers have edged ahead of the cheaters. Please please please get Bolt.

Great news. They're all obviously on something when they all look 50 at just 25 with big unnatural heads.

First of all, I'd like to take a moment here and recognize White Lightning. He has been saying for years that the Jamaicans are dirty, they have found ways to beat testing, and there's no way so many world class sprinters with video game times can come from a small, impoverished island in such a short time (last 10 years or so). Now that they are getting busted left and right, you must feel totally vindicated! You have been right all along.

I do agree with the earlier comment that Bolt will be protected. There's too much riding on him not being busted, but hey, you never know what might happen after he's done. I'm just glad that with these high profile, exclusively black cheaters, the myth of the "blacks of West African descent are faster than everyone else" is taking a major hit

I've always felt that 9.8 is about the human limit of how fast you can run the 100m. Anything below that can only be accomplished thru the use of PEDs. Doesn't Asafa Powell have the distinction of having the most sub 10s (or is it sub 9.8s) times in history? You have to throw it all out now. Same for most, if not all of Gay's times, the 4x100 record from the Olympics last year, etc, etc.

I'm just glad all these cheaters are getting caught now. I wonder which shoe will drop next.

And finally, what a bummer that CLM appears to be completely regressing, instead of taking advantage of this golden opportunity. With proper training and progress, he could've been a dual medal threat in both the 100/200 in Moscow and Rio. I'm still holding out hope for the 200m, but after his performance in the 100m at the French championships, I don't have much optimism for that one.

Only a matter of time. if they can identify the substance it could lead to more suspensions. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Bolt gets caught before the Championships. Hey White Lightning, I bet this news was the best birthday present you got this year ;)

It looks like another twist in this case. The Jamaicans claim that the Canadian was administering a prohibited substance without their knowledge. I don't get why a shot has been would get his drug test spiked or a fading former contender would get her test spiked but this is the latest...http://www.ctvnews.ca/sports/canadi...under-doping-investigation-in-italy-1.1369022

it doesn't matter, athletes are responsible for what is injected in them
otherwise it would be too easy, when you are caught you just say that it was a mistake by your doctor or your coach and you would be cleared

it's a classic among cheaters to blame the new trainer for administrating "tainted supplements"! Xuereb, the physical trainer of Powell and Simpsons is accusing them of using him as a scapegoat, and asks them to face their own responsibilites:

"It is time the athletes took responsibility for their doping instead of looking around for a scapegoat, whether that person is their therapist, bartender or anyone else," says the email, which details Xuereb's relationship with the sprinters. "Athletes keep using the same story, which is to blame the scapegoat for their own wrongdoing."

The statement says all the vitamins Xuereb provided to the sprinters were found to be legal by Italian police.

I love how Gay is blaming his coach. so no light bulb went off in his head last year when his training partner Mullings got caught? So he is dumb or lying, either way it don't look good.

All these excuses just crack me up. I mean the rules are black and white. Athletes know what substances they can and can't take. It's absurd to think they are getting duped or are unknowingly taking something.

It looks like Gay is now linked to a "new age" doctor. Sometimes I wonder how a guy who lands a 4 year scholarship and attends a university could act like he just landed off of a turnip truck when it comes to these kind of doctors....http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/news/20130716/tyson-gay-positive-test-news/?sct=mr_t11_a4
