I agree Westside. Tye Fields was actually in much better shape than Fury ever was. He lost to Monte Barrett who isn't a top heavyweight.

Tyson Fury is a poor man's version of Duane Bobick. He will get blasted out by a tough 2nd tier fighter be it a white, other or affelet. I see no reason this guy can't shed that baby fat and present himself as a professional. It would be different if he carried dynamite in both hands, but he doesn't. Just a lumbering above average heavyweight fighting "never wills" prolonging the eventual spectacular beat down or KO.

Fury hasn't fought in almost 4 months now and I don't see any fights lined up for him. Anyone know what is going on with him? Was the McDermott fight too much for him? Many people think McDermott won that fight.

Fury returns to action tomorrow in an eight rounder. His opponent is Hans-Joerg Blasko 9-3(6).

Will that be televised (per chance)?

Thanks WA33. I occasionally check out boxing, but not as much as MMA.

Fury wasn't impressive against McDermott. I must admit that I thought McDermott actually won that fight. Tyson comes into fights a bit out of shape and at this point I think he's going to become another Tye Fields, a B level heavyweight.

From Fightnews:

At Leisure Centre in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, UK, English heavyweight titleholder Tyson Fury (10-0, 8 KOs) scored another first-round TKO in a virtual mismatch against weak German Hans-Joerg Blasko (9-4, 6 KOs). Blasko was down after a huge body shot by Fury and was finished with a barrage of punches soon thereafter. Time of stoppage was 2:14 of the first.

Yeh, Fury looks out of shape in the highlights I've seen of him. He needs to cut some & tighten up his mid-section. Glad he won, but it does seem like he's not an A-level fighter.

He's probably a B level heavyweight and will stay that way his entire career. I don't see him every getting on the same level with the Klitschko's, Povetkin, Boystov, Ustinov, Adamek, or any of the other top heavyweights. He could probably give even the top black heavyweights a run for their money though.

He blew out the German stumble bum that he fought on Friday. I guess that means that he will destroy ESPN cannon fodder type opponents. Mcdermott seemed like a gritty club fighter type. Time will tell whether the Mcdermott fight was not being prepared for a step up in class or he is life and death with the next class of boxer. Edited by: white is right

If Fury ever got a fight with either Klitschko it would be a huge mismatch. He doesn't have the athleticism to match up with either brother. Adamek would blow Tyson away with his speed and Povetkin is too technically sound for Fury. As far as up and coming big heavyweights I like Alexander Ustinov a lot better than Fury and think he can actually make an impact in the future.

Boxrec had Tyson Fury facing John McDermott in a rematch later this month. Now that fight isn't listed so it looks as if it's off.

Yes, it seems Fury-McDermott II is off.

I wonder who Fury will fight next? Hopefully Larry Olubamiwo.

I'm a bit disappointed with Fury. He doesn't seem like a top fighter in the heavyweight division. I think Robert Helenius is the better prospect at this point.
