Transfers in college are essentially treated as free agents - players viewed by the new team as impact players. Transfers seem to be more frequent in college then ever before. From the list you can see some players have transferred from more than one school. Here is my list of top 10 QB transfers to look for in 2014.

1. Jacob Coker - New School Alabama / Old School FSU
2. Gunner Kiel - New School Cincinatti / Old School Notre Dame/LSU
3. Wes Lunt - New School Illinois / Old School Oklahoma St.
4. Mike Brewer - New School Va Tech / Old School Texas Tech
5. Matt Joeckel - New School TCU / Old School Texas A&M
6. Brandon Connette - New School Fresno St. / Old School Duke
7. Andrew Hendrix - New School Miami (OH) / Old School Notre Dame
8. Jake Heaps - New School Miami / Old School Kansas BYU
9. Stephen Rivers - New School Vanderbilt / Old School LSU
10. Pete Thomas - New School La. Monroe / Old School Colorado St. NC State

I feel like an idiot now after seeing that Coker, Joeckel and Heaps are all not starting and have been essentially screwed over. I do not think that they transferred to their respective schools to sit on the bench and I do not think the coaches/recruiters who told them to come to those schools said they would not be the starting QBs.

Lunt, Brewer and Thomas did all play well though.

Wes lunt has led the illini to a 2-0 start this season and is in the top 5 in the country in passing yards.

Brewer led the hokies to an upset victory over urban meyers blackguys. Brewers qb performance in that game was all toughness and grit. It will be under appreciated by the media but is one of the best performances i have seen in leading a team to victory.

Rivers looks like a bust in vanderbilt but that whole team looks bad.

Pete Thomas led ulm to another win and has been solid so far. Will he take the tom savage path to the nfl?

Coker got some playing time and looked pretty good. Hopefully he will play more and more, eventually overtaking the dink and sunk sims at qb.

Agreed; Brewer's having a good debut w/VaTech. In his first two weeks, he's thrown for 450 yards, 4 TDs, and has completed close to 70% of his tosses. Understood, in week 1 Brewer was able to pad his stats against William & Mary.. but knocking off a Top10 Ohio St., on the road, is not easy for any QB.

In my opinion, the other good news is that Beamer showed fairness recruiting Brewer.. I think Brewer was barred from transferring within his original conference, so it was good stretch for VT to go get him, especially after Beamer's QB record with Mike & Marcus Vick, Tyrod Taylor, & Logan Thomas. In fairness, all were sent to the pros: but Brewer could be a better/different prototypical passer. And the truth is, Brewer does have wheels, he scrambled & extended a number of plays against OSU.

Quick update - it looks like out of the QBs listed the following are the only ones that will be full time starters.

1. Gunner Kiel - 10 TDs in two games so far - looks like he is living up to the hype. He has a huge game next week against the ohio st black guys
2. Wes Lunt - Has the Illini to a 3-1 start, he seems to be a slow starter in games before getting in a rhythm. Let's hope he continues to get better as the season continues
3. Michael Brewer - led the biggest upset of the year to this point, needs to limit turnovers but he has been a pleasant surprise
4. Andrew Hendrix - watched him against Cincinatti - played well and was impressed with his athleticism.
5. Pete Thomas - has played ok, had a dud vs LSU though

Coker, Joeckel have both been screwed at the 1/4 point in the season. Hopefully they find their way onto the field as full time starters. Brandon Connette looks to be part of a QB committee in Fresno. Heaps and Rivers have both been busts.
