This was the best back and forth boxing match I have seen in a long time. Cunningham is tough and can jab real well when he follows a game plan but Adamek took his best shots and never went down. I am a much bigger MMA fan but that boxing match was just about as entertaining as any UFC match. It was nice to hear the crowd cheering Adamek the whole way through and all the Polish red and white shirts dotting the crowd was cool to see as well.

Cunningham had Adamek in the 4th round. He was just pounding away on him and I though the fight would end right there. Adamek has a great chin though and Cunningham is weak as well. I also think Cunningham is a prick as he was sticking his tongue out during the fight and taunting Adamek.

I watched the fight twice on youtube and I must say it looked more like Adamek dominated.

I agree. Even without the knockdowns, I think Adamek did better than people are giving him credit for. Sure, he took a lot of shots. It happens. I think the commentators weren't giving Adamek enough credit down the stretch. Cunningham did do well over the last four rounds, but I still gave Adamek rounds 11 and 12. But the commentators basically ignored him; they were too preoccupied with the scoring, and whether Cunningham could make up for the three knockdowns or not.

That night was spectacular. I was at the fight and there were no more than a handful of blacks in the whole crowd. When Cunningham came out, he was booed by 99 percent of the stadium. Almost everyone in the crowd was Polish. Each t time Cunningham went down the whole crowd jumped up and screamed. It was an awesome feeling. When I got home and watched the fight on Youtube, I thought the announcers were fair. They did make positive compliments that Adamek deserved to win and he was the stronger man.

WA33 glad your night was spectacular. Wished I could have been there. I remember back in 2004 I witnessed Vitali's destruction and revenge for his brother over, Corrie Sanders in the Staples Center in Los Angeles. I remember Vitali coming into the ring on "Hotel California" then commence to methodically destroy a stll very dangerous Sanders who hits alot harder than David Haye. Only if Sanders was Lennox, my night would have perfect!

Yea I thought he was white at first. Adamek may also fight Cunningham in a rematch later in 2009. Adamek trains in Jersey City which is about 10 miles from my town. I plan on going down to his gym to meet him soon.

Adamek should fight the winner of Enzo/Banks for a winner takes all. That would be the biggest fight at cruiserweight I think.

Adamek won the title at the same venue on December 11th, dethroning
champion Steve Cunningham in front of a large Polish crowd. Banks was to
fight Enzo Maccarinelli for the vacant WBO belt in December, but had to pull

When I first saw it, it didn't make sense to me either, because Adamek is a better fighter than Maccarinelli.

However, it's an opportunity for Banks to win a world title in his home country (the US) on national TV (Showtime), so it would be potentially more beneficial to his career.

Adamek should win this fight. I think he will have an easier time than with Cunningham. Banks is tall at 6'3. Anyone know his reach? It's not on boxrec.

Not sure about his reach but he does have some stamina issues and possibly
a glass chin. He was dropped twice in the first round against some Cuban

Not a good sign when your stepping in the ring with the rugged Adamek. I
pick Adamek to score a mid round stoppage.

As impressive Adamek's recent victory is, he had better work hard to improve his defense, stamina, and most of all, his punching attack.

He does have rock-hard punches, but he needs to improve his punching attack to have better accuracy rate.

I agree with Blue Devils on this one. I think Banks did have a chance (though I would still pick Enzo to win by late KO/TKO)against Enzo, however I think he has little chance against Adamek. In fact I remember watching Banks fight on the undercard of Wladimir Klitschko/Hasim Rahman just a few months ago. Man, Banks was dead on his feet after the 7th round. I mean he was sucking wind real bad. I thought he might even be stopped for a minute by the underskilled light punching Italian opponent. Banks did pull it off in the end but did not impress me at all. Mabye he just had a bad day, who knows?

Anyway, one thing is for certain, if he resembles anything close to how he performed in that last fight he will get stopped before 8.

Adamek is about as solid a cruiserweight as can be. As I have stated before Adamek had some trouble with Cunninghan because of the reach disadvantage he was facing. I was at the fight and could see Adamek putting together great combinations all night while Cunnigham was just landing single shots. Cunningham had one good round in the 4th where he pounded Adamek and Adamek didn't budge. Most other fighters would have been knocked out at that point. If anything Banks better call in the national guard to save him from this one. ADAMEK by KO in 6 or less.Edited by: whiteathlete33

Adamek also looked natural at the weight and kept his underrated power too. You have to wonder what type of starvation diet he was on when he was making 175?
