Tomasz has a fight with the underrated Steve Cunningham for the IBF/Ring belts. How do you see this fight playing out? I personally think Tomasz wins a close decision.

This is the most important fight of Adamek's life coming up.

If he wins, he'll be Ring Champion at cruiserweight, as well as being the IBF world titleholder.

He'll be at a height and reach disadvantage, but perhaps he can over come it.

He had better win, Polish Pride is on the line.
A loss will mean the End for this once promising fighter.

I was disappointed in how Adamek fought Dawson and lost. Adamek spent most of the fight outside, or out of range, and not throwing much at all. He was never clever. When he did let his hands go, he knocked Dawson down in the 10th, and had him badly hurt. He won the last two rounds also as he started to go after Dawson and close the gap in range. Had Adamek fought the entire Dawson fight up close I think he would have won -even without being too clever. After three or four rounds of doing nothing on the outside a fighter has to ask himself: "What the hell am I doing out here other than getting picked off?"

Adamek has won all of his fights since that Dawson loss and he has moved up in weight in all of them. When some fighters get older they find it easier to fight at a heavier weight than they did when they were younger and this is perhaps the case with Adamek. For the record, this fight with Cunningham is at cruiserweight -a full 200 lbs- which is much more than he has been fighting at his entire career. Adamek is giving away a bit of height, some reach, and he may be giving away some size to Cunningham who may be a slightly bigger man. He will not, however, be giving away speed as Cunningham is not as fast as Dawson and probably not as fast as Adamek. Adamek will surely be the most skillfull fighter Cunningham has ever fought.

This fight is going to be more or less the same fight he had against Dawson only Cunningham is bigger. Adamek has to use his skill and go out and rip away at Cunningham for the first four rounds and make Cunningham spit out his guts and lose his desire to win. If he goes out there and waits and throws a one-two and then waits or holds and walks around he is surely going to lose.

Wlodarczyk beat Cunningham once and lost the second fight by close decesion. Both fights where actually close. Adamek is better than Wlodarczyk and can pull this one out. I am actually going to be at this fight since its in Newark , NJ. I hope Adamek doesn't disappoint as this is the biggest fight of his career. In regards to the Dawson fight Dawson was faster than Adamek. In the late rounds when Dawson was in trouble Adamek should have gone all out to knock him down again because he was way behind on points.

I agree with you Maple. The last three rounds is how Adamek should have started the fight. Glen Johnson fought Dawson like that and most people thought he beat Dawson. I had it a draw but still I think if Adamek had been more aggressive he could have possibly knocked Dawson out because Johnson had him out on his feet multiple times during their fight and Tomasz is much bigger and stronger than Glen Johnson.

Who's training Tomasz now? McGirt f*cked him up in that fight by trying to get Tomasz to lay back and box when he should of taken the fight to Dawson.

Man, I did not know Mcgirt was his trainer for that fight. What a mistake. Mcgirt is a professional saboteur, he has sabotaged dozens of big fights. When he trains a fighter for a title fight he trains that fighter to lose. Mcgirt plays to lose. He loves losing. It seems he is not satisfied being a loser himself, but he must account for others losses in his betrayals. [IMG] [IMG]

A word to the wise: stay away from "Buddy, 'the born loser" Mcgirt. [IMG]

That is so true Maple Leaf. Mcgirt appears as though losing is the goal. I know obviously that is not the truth but it does seem to be that way with him. He throws in the towel at a moments notice. I suppose it may be that he cares for his fighters, however he is dam fast to pack it in.

I think the hatton-malignaggi fight was the same way. Hatton may have KOed him in the last round, but he should have let it go. Malignaggi has proven he can take a beating, but Buddy boy stoped it. Hey, maybe he does care deeply for the guys he trains. I find that kind of difficult to believe though. He sure has been weird with that towel, and if I was a boxer I would steer clear of that guy. Well see if the confused Malignaggi will ever use him again. He seemed truly pissed about having it stopped.

Adamek has a chance of winning on Thursday, but I think he'll need to fight on the inside to overcome Cunningham's reach advantage. Steve Cunningham's reach is longer than the Klitschko brothers at 82", and he's taller than Tomasz at 6'3". Adamek's reach is 75", the same as his last opponent O'Neil Bell.

Proportionately longer arms/wingspan on average is the main reason blacks have had their success in boxing, it really helps when you are working the jab. But it can be overcome if someone is fast and strong like Marciano, whose reach was only 67".

First round Cunningham looks tense and nervous.
Second round the same and Cunningham trying to exchange with Adamek.
Adamek knocks Cunningham down at end of round.

More of the same for the third. Adamek moving in and Cunningham nervously bouncing around. Should be an Adamek round but who knows.

Round 4 Adamek took some big punches, Cunningham punched himself out and Adamek floors Cunningham again at end of round. Ref hasn't warned Cunningham once for anything. Many cautions to Adamek. Cunningham is sh*tting bricks in the corner.

Round 5 Adamek gives and takes shots. Cunningham loads up but Adamek is relaxed and stays his ground. I don't know how long Cunningham will last.

Adamek lands all the big shots in round 6. Cunningham wobbled many times. Black ref and judges though.

Again round 7 Adamek lands killer shots. Cunningham throws pepper spray. Ref is breaking them up quickly. Adamek is killing him but who knows?

Another huge round for Adamek in the 8th. Cunningham down again! Cunningham's legs look wonky. Watch his legs not his upper body. I got to go but at this point I would say Adamek is going to knock Cunningham out. I guess he learned his lesson from the Chad Dawson fight.
    See y'all later.

This and the Froch fight are two of the best fights I've seen in years.

I have Adamek winning 114-111, but I'm worried because "caste-clown" Wally Matthews has it a draw [IMG]

Great win for Adamek. Whites now own 17 of the 20 belts from 160 to heavyweight. One is vacant and would have gone to Enzo Maccaranelli if his 2 opponents didn't back out.

Whites will have all the belts by 2010.

Great performance by Adamek! I had him winning by 114-111. [IMG]

Did you see the expression on Cunningham's face before and after the last judge's score was read? He expected the black judge to score the fight for him (and so did I) but as it turned out, the judge scored the fight fairly. Props to him! [IMG]
