when assked during a question and answer session Gerhart was asked how many yards he would rush for this year and his response was 2000 to the applause of the crowd. I only hope he can deliver 2000 yards means he's a certain 1st round pick.

Austen Collie had the most receiving yards in college football and he went 4th or 5th round. Now imagine a WHITE runningback who does this.

To the stupid media, if Toby got over 2,000 yards, he would just be a tight-hipped, high motor overachiever who would make a fine FB in the NFL.

Luke Staley won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back a few years ago, and was completely ignored by the NFL. he wasn't drafted until late in the 7th round and, if i'm not mistaken, didn't even get a carry in a preseason game before getting cut.

the NFL needs no reason whatsoever to cut white athletes, especially fast ones.

As I recall Staley was probably the best athlete coming out of that draft at running back except maybe for Clinton Portis. The knock on him was his injuries. Does averaging 8.1 yards a carry and over 1500 yards for the season warrant a 7th round pick? Only if you are white.

If Gerhart can win the Doak Walker Award and rush for at least 1500 yards, he needs to market himself. Toby also needs to do something no whites ever do. Demand to stay at running back. Only go to a team that will let you run the ball. Screw blocking. Tell them to draft someone else if they are looking for a fullback. Have some balls and tell everyone that you are a running back period! Come on Toby. Lead by example and show all the other white running backs how to start on Sundays! It may seem like a dream but he has the ability to make this a reality.

agreed it only takes one player to change the culture of this racist leauge. I think he could be the first to challenge the system, and possibly stay and play runningback in the pro's.

white lightning and white power, I hope you two are right. I guess time will tell. It would be awesome if he were to stand his ground and then get drafted high and used as a RB by some team. We'll see what happens.

If he is good enough he will get drafted all coaches are not dumbed down by the caste system. I bet Sporano would take him seing how Rickey Williams is getting up there in age. Gethart seems like a Parcells type player tough hard nosed and very athletic don't be suprised if The Dolphins take him late in the 1st round. Parcells has the clout to take Gerhart, and not much will be said about the decision because of his track record with turning teams around.

Gil Brandt today in his nfl.com article has Toby Ranked as the 4th best senior running back in college this year. Gil Brandt is a highly respected ex cowboys talent evaluator so he has credence in the leauge. I told you guys that if Toby has a big senior year he will be drafted in the 1st round. Remember Leonard went in the 2nd round and really didn't even carry the ball that much his senior year. Toby could be the 1st white running back taken in the 1st round in 18 long years. I know their is cynacism on this board, but how are we ever going to break the caste system with so much hopelessness and negativety on this board. Come on people we need to stay positive no matter what the outcome maybe because if we give up then I'm afraid this subject will die.

White Power, I am an optimistic realist. Toby could be taken in the first round if he has a good season, no doubt. But what will happen to him after that. Things have sounded pretty good when white RBs have been drafted in the recent past, only to turn sour once the season gets underway. I'm not about to give up on anything. I don't think anyone else here is either. I'm also not about to ignore the Caste treatment of almost every white RB/WR/CB of the past 20+ years. Just ask Matt Jones if being taken in the first round has meant that much to his career so far. I'm also not going to ignore the way 99% of white skill players don't stand up for themselves and demand to be treated fairly. To ignore these two facts is to build up false hopes. I'm not going to work myself into a frenzy over Toby only to see myself disappointed in the future. I support him and will tell people about him, just as I have for several years. I was the first person on this site to discover him. I don't believe in setting unreal expectations in situations such as those where a white skill player is involved. That is what can often lead to discouragement and hopelessness, imho.

Yeah, except Matt Jones went to the worst possible team out there too. It is sickening that the white skill players just roll over and take that. I guess though if they stood up for themselves, the media would call them racists and would drive them out of the league.

Here's my best case projection. Toby runs for 2000 yards on around 7 YPC with about 20 rushing TDs. Toby goes on to run a 4.52 at the NFL combine and a few brave analysts of note compare him to black Powerbacks like Chris Beanie Wells (with more speed) Brandon Jacobs or Marion Barber.

Toby still falls to the mid 2nd round, but he goes to a team with a good o-line like the Packers. He gets basically no playing time in his first year. Then in his 2nd year with Peyton Hillis still looking good for the Broncos splitting time with Knowshon- Toby's team's starter (lets say Ryan Grant) is completely under performing. In desperation the coach turns to Toby and he completely outperforms Grant and looks like a star. Even the DWFs start to believe in Toby's talent and he becomes the starter and goes on to rush for 10,000 yards in his career on around 4.6 YPC.

This is about the only way it will happen folks. He needs to be drafted by the end of the 2nd round and begin in the NFL with hype. The good news is Toby has never played FB in college!

Toby has said that he has been timed at 4.43 in the 40 yard dash. If he runs 4.43 at the combine at 230 lbs he won't make it out of the ist round. The 49 ers will take him even though their head coach is black he loves smash mouth football. Who better to play smash mouth than a 230 lb back with 4.4 speed.

I sure hope he runs a 4.43 and gets picked in the first round. All the sites I have checked don't even have him listed in the top 20 runningbacks. What the heck is going on?

they were just averageToby is leaning towards football. A strong senior season equals a top round pick if he can stay healthy during his senior year.

Vote for gerhart on draftdaddy for best senior back, right now he is second to CJ Spiller. Jake Sharp also needs some love!

I saw a replay of the Stanford-UCLA game from last year and Gerhart has really beefed up. He runs so well too, nice power, good vision, he hits the gap well. I like this kid, he's a solid straight runner, no muss, no fuss.

Toby throws praise at his buddy at fullback Owen Maricec who paves the way for him, doesn't look like Toby will be asked to change positions!
Stanford tailback Toby Gerhart, who's currently regarded as a 2nd or 3rd round prospect by scouts, throws a lot of praise at Cardinal fullback Owen Marecicill have to worry about being switched to fullback!
