Forgetscout.com...would love to meet the punks that come of with this cr*p! What a JOKE!

Nice articles about Gerhart above...only one problem...he does not weigh 253...closer to 230.

One pre-season publication thinks Toby will tote the rock about 15 times per game...which sadly is more than Hillis, Hester & Leonard combined...

15 carries a game would be nice. If he averaged only 4 yards per carry he would get close to 1,000 yards on the season if he stays healthy.

15 carries a game would effectively make him the starter. Extremely unlikely unless Peterson gets injured or his ongoing decline and fumbling problem becomes so pronounced that the Vikings have no choice. Meantime, the Caste media is speculating whether Gerhart will even be Peterson's backup.

From Rotoworld:

Gerhart will beat out Young eventually?

ESPN's Tom Pelissero says it's only a matter of time before Toby Gerhart passes Albert Young for No. 2 RB duties. Young has been working ahead of the rookie during the spring, but that's just a seniority issue. Gerhart was taken at No. 51 overall to spell Adrian Peterson and play a possible short-yardage role. Young will attempt to carve out a minor change-of-pace role. Jun. 14 - 8:59 am et

Luckily after Peterson Gerhart has basically no competition. Chester Taylor is gone to the Bears even though he was nothing special. Taylor received 94 carries last season as the backup to Peterson. That may be an estimate of how many carries Gerhart gets this upcoming season but hopefully I am wrong. I highly doubt Albert Young or Ian Johnson will be any competition for Toby but in today's caste NFL anything is possible.

Yep, another nameless black scrub running back. I swear that they're all virtually interchangeable. All carrying a 3.9 yard-per-carry average, 5'10" 210pounds. I guess this is the "template" that all of the coaches and scouts look for in a "solid" RB, oh, and they have to be black, or it's time to bulk up and be a FB or switch to LB.

Good post FBD!

I will add: The league average in yards per carry for RBs is 4 YPC. Peyton Hillis averaged 5.4 YPC IN THE GAMES HE STARTED AT TAILBACK for the Broncos in 2008 (getting better each game, including a 129 yard performance on 5.9 YPC against the Jets- who had the best rush defense in the league going into that game). I ask, where did this get Hillis for the 2009 season?

Oh yeah, Jacob Hester averaged 5 YPC in 2008- being used sparingly basically ONLY IN BLOWOUTS AS THE RUN OUT THE CLOCK BACK with 8 or 9 men stacked in the box against him and he did pretty well (his longest run was on a fake punt though I admit). I think Danny Woodhead averaged around 5 YPC last year also (4.8 YPC?). The only white back who has gotten enough carries to evaluate- who has not produced- is Brian Leonard and even he has not been put in ideal situations for his abilities (or gotten good blocking).

Doesn't impressive production from YOUNG PLAYERS with "upside" usually get greeted with more playing time to see if the player can keep up the good work or even improve as they adapt to the NFL level? Yeah it does if the player is black...

Black=upside.
smiley29.gif

Gerhart could average 6 YPC as Peterson's backup as a rookie (let's say 100 carries on the year for 603 yards) and they would say he really doesn't deserve more playing time b/c he has "downside".

This list must have been composed late last season, before Gerhart won the Doak award- and became the first white tailback to get any hype in almost 2 decades. Several of these players on this list did not declare for the 2010 draft and are still in college. Whoever wrote that list is an ass clown self loathing spineless punk DWA (drunk white analyst) and probably would only now have put Gerhart in his top 10 "to go with the flow". He has no courage to think for himself. He is cut out of the same cloth as those typical BrownieSCOUT/ YAHOOligan sports whiteRIVALS undercover United Negro College Fund company prostitutes.

Luke Staley had some hype coming out of college and won the Doak Walker Award yet was only a 7th round pick because of injuries. What a bunch of crap!

After Staley was finally drafted I remember Mike "Dumbo the Elephant" Golic

remarking that the reigning Doak Walker Award winner had a chance to make the Lions as a special teamer. As it turns out Golic was actually being optimistic.

Kevin Roberts, who recognizes the Caste System and doesn't support it, wrote this for Bleacher Report. Peterson's yards per carry over the last half of the '09 season were terrible, and his fumbling problems were getting worse:

With Toby Gerhart In the Wings, Does Adrian Peterson Need to Play It Cool?

by Kevin Roberts

A lot has been made out of Adrian Peterson missing last weekend's minicamp. Head coach Brad Childress was openly miffed about Peterson missing practice to attend "Adrian Peterson Day" in Texas.

This is all very interesting , and especially so because of two facts:

First, many immediately pull the "Brett Favre card," suggesting that if Favre can skip on workouts, then why can't Peterson?

There is also the suggestion that the Vikings had known all along about Peterson's event, especially since this was the fourth consecutive year it was held.

Firstly, Peterson's situation is nothing like Favre's. Favre is rehabbing an ankle injury and entering his 20th NFL season. Even without the injury, a large portion of the league (and definitely the Vikings) would agree that he has earned the right to show up right before the pre-season begins.

While Peterson is a heck of a running back, it's quite arguable that he has not yet earned that right.

Rumors are flying around about another "schism," that this is just the beginning of a bigger problem, or that AD wants a new contract.

These are probably just what they seem to be: petty rumors that won't ever form wings.

However, if Peterson does intend on flexing his iconic muscles to see just how much he means to the state of Minnesota, he might want to check in the rear-view mirror.

The 30-year old Chester Taylor is gone to Chicago, and newly drafted Stanford running back, Toby Gerhart, is waiting for his chance to steal the show.

That's not to say we're anywhere near that type of a situation, but we're talking about a guy (Peterson) who didn't have a particularly great 2009 season. Not to mention the fact that he capped a regular season in which he lost six fumbles by committing more errors in the Vikings' NFC Championship loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Sure, Peterson's numbers are rock solid at first glance: over 1,300 rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, and 43 receptions (22 more than in 2008).

However, when you take a close look at his game logs , you'll find that Peterson topped 100 yards just three times all season, and two of those 100+ yard efforts came against the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions.

Not exactly the resume of a running back who is supposed to be the "best back in the league ." That doesn't mean Peterson isn't as good as we thought/think he was/is.

It just means that his attitude, fumbles, and consistency are worth a second glance.

Another interesting note? In his last seven regular season games, Peterson topped four yards per carry only once .

On the other side of the spectrum, the last guy in the world that you'd think could supplant Peterson is Gerhart, a stanford kid who used to wear the number seven in college. He could actually turn out to be the perfect replacement. Of course, if it ever comes to that extreme of a move by the Vikings and/or Peterson.

Gerhart doesn't fumble. He's a powerful and strong runner, just like Peterson, but he knows how to protect the ball, get difficult yards, and get into the end-zone.

Perhaps the Vikings weren't just breathing hot air when they stole Gerhart in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft . Perhaps that selection was foreshadowing.

While it's not likely, it's definitely something to think about and watch for.

There were several comments by DWFs who disagreed with Roberts' criticism of Peterson.

Kevin Roberts is a good writer. I wish he'd delve into the reasons for the biases he talks about at times or mention the sociology of the caste system, team, players, coaches and fans etc. Or mention the political recruiting service's agenda to stack the FBS with as many black SCHOLARSHIP players as possible at the expense of those "rich white boys".

I've seen some great articles by Kevin on clear baffling situations of biases in the NFL, but he never seems to want to criticize any black players for playing the race card/ victim (to put the coach between a rock and a hard place of having to play an inferior player or losing the support of the media, fans and/ or some of the players) or other bad behavior by NFL players. Clearly this Kevin Roberts guy doesn't seem to have a racist bone in his body and just wants fairness, but it isn't racist to tell the truth (about the ENTIRETY of the NFL)!Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Maybe the Vikings are smarter than we think: They are planning on dealing Adrian Peterson in a blockbuster Hershell Walker type deal before everybody realizes he's overrated. That's why they drafted Toby (Emmitt Smith) to be their feature back for the next 7-8 years in a 1990's Dallas Cowboys style dynasty.Edited by: icsept

Is this your speculation or did you hear or read this somewhere?

I hope it's true and Toby gets to start because I believe he will do as good as AP did last year minus the fumbles. Toby has everything you'd want in a featured RB.

Most experts probably think Peterson is top 3, but most think Chris Johnson is now that best NFL RB (and some have Ray Rice ahead of Peterson now too). We just got to hope Peterson gets serious fumblitis and under performs like he did at the end of last year. Then maybe Gerhart will get a lot of work as the season progresses. Turf Toe or a slight ankle Sprain could also be beneficial to Gerhart starting for a few games, so the numb brained fans could actually believe that a star white FBS tailback could be dominant in the NFL too!

Great article. The guy knows his stuff. After all of the bad luck our guys have had, wouldn't it be great if were once, things worked in our favor? Keep my fingers crossed but I doubt it will happen.

Good article, The lack of concentration over a long period of time has always been a major factor in the downfall of blacks in anything they try. That's why I always say of blacks, just because he "can" do something, doesn't mean he "will" do it.

Of course Williams would like to injure Gerhart because we all know how much blacks hate white guys playing "their" positions.

That piece of garbage Williams makes me sick. Somehow I doubt his coach would be so lenient if the RB was Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson. More double standard caste system crap!

Yup, standard operating procedure. I hope the SOB chokes to death on a chicken bone.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/07/31/pat-williams-welcomes-toby-gerhart-to-the-nfl/

No one told Pat Williams that Saturday's practice wasn't full contact.

Rookie Vikings running back Toby Gerhart took at least three big hits despite being in shoulder pads and shorts. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said, "I didn't know we were hitting that hard yet, but they might have tried to welcome him a little bit."

Pat Williams was awesomely unapologetic.

"I don't care who it is, man," Williams said. "This ain't college no more. They're grown mans out there. [Expletive.] Paying these college boys like they already played before, so [expletive], we just show 'em. This is a different breed out there. This is grown men. It ain't boys no more. But they pay 'em like they done played in the NFL now," Williams said, according to Tom Pelissero of ESPN1500.

Pat Williams is the [expletive] best.

(And for the record, Gerhart had just the right response. "It's expected," Gerhart said. "I feel like I'm playing football again.")
