I am optimistic that he will get a chance to play halfback at the next level, and he does have extraordinary athleticism. We shouldn't already put him under the screwed over by the nfl category when he hasn't reached the NFL yet. Many people have seen what Toby is capable of, and if he does get screwed many will ask why? Toby will not accept a lead blocking role, he didn't when USC and several other colleges offered it to him, and he won't if the NFL tries to put him there. He and his dad seem both seem to know the discrimination that White athletes face. He has a baseball career to fall back on, and if that doesn't work, he will have a degree in mechanical engineering. He won't offer to play waterboy in the NFL, if he is not a halfback I doubt he will stick around and block for lesser talented backs.

The problem with the other recent White rbs is, they all accepted a blocking role. Hillis was a fullback in college, Hester was a fullback before getting carries his senior season, and Leonard switched to fullback his senior season to block for Ray Rice.

I think if even his supporters are writing him off for getting a real shot at the next level just because it has happened in the past, it will be that much easier for the NFL to do the same. This is a new year, a different player, different circumstances. Id rather him play halfback at the next level than win the Heisman. The only reason I want him to win is for the exposure, which he has gotten plenty of, but having him win would be an added bonus.Edited by: dwid

You are right Dwid. Loneard, Hillis and Hester should have never allowed themselves to be put in the fullback role. I am sure Toby is aware of the situation regarding white runningbacks and how the NFL and colleges screw even the most talented white backs by moving them to linebacker or fullback. There is no excuse as to why Toby can't be a featured back on the next level. He has the speed and athletic ability. If they do try to move him to fullback I am sure most of the DWF's won't know the difference anyways.

Toby was getting a lot of support today on KNBR, which is northern California's biggest sports radio station. Jim Plunkett was a guest and said he voted for him. Callers and the two radio guys were strongly behind him.

I think it was Luke Staley. I pretty much certain he was an invite and came 5th. I know Gerhart got ESPN's Wojo's top vote. I just looked it up and they never mentioned Staley as a finalist. I guess it would be Gordie Lockbaum who got a lot of votes in the late 80's. He was a DII player at Holy Cross. Edited by: white is right

I think Toby either wins or comes in 2nd just my humble opinion.

That would indeed be nice. I have no visions of Toby getting the Heisman. That would be just go too much against the Caste system to realistically hope for. If it happens I will be totally shocked, but second would be a very nice story as well. The most important thing for me is who he goes to in the NFL. He needs to be put into a position where he can immediately contribute at a high level to a team, not in an ultra caste super fullback position like Hillis and Hester . We all know how that has panned out. Den and SD have both said that their "Fullbacks" are weapons but they rarely if ever use them like they could. Neither do I want him to sit behind an established back or just spell someone. He needs to be somewhere where he can at least compete for carries as a number one option. Toby has the ability to open some big doors for future white backs and even maybe guys already in the league like Hillis and Hester. I am sure that scares the caste clowns more than anything. It kind of scares me too, because knowing that and the the NFL, I just wonder how much of a fair shot he will get.

I want him to go to the Patriots. They would play him. He would be their number one back within a couple of years. I know they would have to pull a trade or give up multiple draft picks to get him but I belive they just might do it. I would love to see him there. I will be happy where ever he goes as long as he starts and plays at least half of the downs on offense. He can be a pro bowler if given the opportunity.

I do think if he wins the Heisman, they will be more pressured to play him at running back. It is very important for him to win in my opinion. It boosts his stock with any team and will also help him to be drafted higher. I can't wait for Saturday. Positive vibes guys.

Gerhart to win the Heisman and Vitali with another big knockout. It should be a great night!

There is no question that Gerhart winning the Heisman will put a huge amount of pressure for the NFL to let him play RB, and that goes against everything the caste system stands for.

For that reason, I think enough strings will be pulled to make sure Mark Ingram wins it. There's no doubt that any black vote will go to him, and there are enough white caste clowns who will also vote for Ingram to promote their own anti-white agenda. If Toby wins, I'll be shocked. I'd love to see him win the Doak Walker award, though,Edited by: foobar75

Didn't you see the announcement of the finalists by Tim Brown? HE VOTED FOR GERHART! Why do some on here insist that Toby will be screwed in this scenario? Look, it seems like it will be a 50/50 shot between Gerhart and Ingram. I think Gerhart might pull it out in the end, getting a significant number of votes from old-timers who aren't on Twitter and ESPN announcing their votes. Do you think any voter will have to "pay" for the sin of voting for Gerhart? Is Tim Brown going to be ostracized for voting for Toby? Look, we all know ESPN is not in favor of Toby. Right after the game they didn't show any of his highlights (they showed one TD later at night though) when he scorched USC for 178 yds and 3 TDs. But that doesn't matter though because how many votes does ESPN have? Not many from what I can tell. The Heisman is given by a private trust with many votes spread throughout the country, and the only thing ESPN has to do with it is broadcasting the ceremony. ESPN will HAVE to show many highlights of Toby during the show, because I think that's a contractual obligation to air equal segments on all the finalists.

I think it's funny that some people automatically assume Toby can't win the Heisman, including in numerous articles that were well intended. Look Toby very well can win it. Yes, it's not the end of the world if he doesn't. But, it will be a huge memorial that will be remembered for decades after this. They will show his trucking of the Notre Dame CB years from now as his "defining moment." Let's keep our fingers crossed, hope, pray and sent positive vibes out and keep talking up Toby. It can't hurt

Not sure if someone had mentioned this already, but here's the link to the ESPN Heisman experts vote. This is the last poll and his first time at the top spot! What great timing to finish at the top of the heap! Again, the point totals are razor tight between Gerhart and Ingram. This one will go down to the wire. I don't think we'll know who will get it until the actual announcement, but I'm feeling a good vibe that Gerhart will eek it out, even if just by 1 vote!

Gerhart's consistency a cut above the rest
By Ivan Maisel
ESPN.com

Editor's note: Each week this season, ESPN.com will ask one of its Heisman Watch voters to explain his or her picks.

1. Toby Gerhart, Stanford: The senior is second in the nation in rushing (1,736 yards) and first in scoring (26 touchdowns). He never had a bad game and he had plenty of good ones, especially down the stretch. In the Cardinal's last four games, when the aches and pains of the autumn have accumulated, Gerhart averaged 29 carries and 185.5 yards per game. Want a tiebreaker? He is an outstanding student. At Stanford. Bottom line: Gerhart has the best stats and played the most consistent football of any of the Heisman contenders.

Here is one of the latest Heisman watch shows. Eddie George thinks that Toby deserves it. But the only one on the clip that actually has a vote, idiot sportswriter Tom Dienhart, voted for INGRAM, saying he was most dominant, bla bla bla. With that O-line, I could have run for 1,000 yards!

Some white people are just so stupid. You would think after years of no starting white runningbacks in the NFL whites would wake up. In Toby you have a truly dominant runningback who deserves the Heisman but some whites still vote for the bruvas. This is the reason why this country is going to hell.

On ESPN they were just talking about Heisman candidates and one of the guys said Toby deserves it, and he was the most outstanding player this year, but then when it came to pro prospects he said Toby is a 3rd or 4th round draft pick, WHAT THE HELL? He should be a first round pick.

I wanted him to win, but being a top draft pick and being used as a halfback in the NFL is most important. I kind of want him to come in second now, because I can picture people mentioning other Heisman guys that didnt make it in the NFL to not give Toby a real chance.

3rd or 4th round prospect? Is this guy serious? All they have to do now is draft Gerhart in a later round and then just bury him on the depth chart like Leonard.

Eric Kusilias, standing in for Colin Cowherd, spent a good deal of time explaining why TG should get the H-man. Pretty good arguements too if I may say so. He mentioned that he probably wouldn't win because of East Coast and SEC bias. He, of course, didn't mention the elephant in the room, that being that TG is a White RB from a school that actually has academic standards.

I do think that if TG doesn't win this thing, he is going to be "fullbacked." I hope I am wrong. I hope that if it does happen, he says "FU" and heads for baseball.

Now Eddie George voted for Toby which leads me to beleive that maybe the blacks want him to win to stick it to the man as well. What other reason could their be. Maybe Toby winning the heisman finally points out how so many players get pigeon holed into positions based on race.
I only hope he wins as to point out what has been done to the white running back over the last quarter century. How can we win the trophy when so many of us are made into line backers and safeties.

So now we have two black former Heisman winners who have voted for Toby. I wonder how many of the others have too. I think Toby winning would be great for the reason you mentioned. How can teams insist white RBs become safety or LB if a white RB just won the Heisman? I'm not sure how it will all come down, but I'm feeling a slight hunch that Gerhart just might pull it out. Eddie George and Tim Brown vote for Gerhart, Todd McShay just said on ESPN that he voted for Toby, and even the Heismanpundit.com editor voted for Toby! I know it will be very close but I think some of the old-timer voters who remember the white RBs of the past just might break for Toby. And these are not the ones who announce their votes on ESPN, facebook and Twitter!

Whoever says Toby "should" go in the 3-4th round (as if that's where he deserves to go) is full of dog squeeze! This stud RB should be a top 5 pick! I agree with AnimalMuther, if the NFL vermin try to FB Toby...he needs to say FU and play baseball. If that happens, it'll be the biggest caste scr-wover to date!

I have seen several recent mock drafts that don't have him going before the late 3rd round to the Texans. In fact most of them that I have seen are pretty much that way or they don't even mention him, meaning they expect him to fall to at least the 4th. Most of them have less productive guys like Mathews, Best, Dixon and Hardesty going ahead of him which is completely irrational. That is a WAC guy, a slight framed guy who didn't even rush for half as many yards as Toby did in the same conference and two worlds greatest affletes who weren't even the best RB's in their conference and didn't even come close to Toby. So here we can clearly see the bias. They could use the old SEC argument and say well Dixon and Hardesty play in tougher conferences, but Best plays in the same Pac 10 as Toby, is smaller and less productive. Mathews is WAC for God sakes. If Toby was in the WAC he wouldn't be receiving anything but a passing mention and certainly wouldn't be a serious blip on anyone's draft prospectus in the upper rounds and he certainly wouldn't be a Heisman finalist.

Some of the best mocks I have seen have him going in the late first round around (26) to the Patriots. I am not sure how I really feel about that or how good of a fit it would be, but it would be hard to argue with a first round pick. If one could argue for any running back to go in the first round, there are no questions that if it were a serious non caste discussion, Toby would have to be in that equation. If he is not, it only proves the double standards that exist. If Toby wins the Heisman or even comes in a very close second, it is going to be DAMN HARD! to bury him on a depth chart, so I am very positive that someone is going to take him within the first 2 rounds. Then it is only a matter of where exactly he goes to, whether it is a team that needs immediate RB help or if he is taken to add depth. My biggest fear is that he could end up just going somewhere to be a battering ram for the "REAL" Afflete. If I start hearing the words versatile weapon in any way shape or form other than as implied as a potential feature back around draft time, I will be a bit worried, but until then I am confident he can be a real caste buster.

It light of these prognostications, I certainly hope that Toby continues his steadfast refusal to change positions. We've already heard the disheartening news about Tim Tebow, and how he is "more than willing" to be castrated by the NFL, since no white man can be a serious "Dual Threat" QB, ala "Radio". I don't mind Ryan Mathews being played up, since he is mostly white, with some islander in him.

NFLdraftscout has Toby as the 3rd best runningback in the nation. In my opinion he should be a top 10 pick based on his production and athleticism. Anthony Dixon and CJ Spiller are ahead of him on this particular site.

The key to Toby's draft position will be what he runs the 40 in at the Combine. If it's sub-4.60 it will be very difficult for him not to go by the early second round at the latest. If it's over 4.60 the party line will be that he's not fast enough, that he's a "hybrid," a "tweener," that his success in college will not translate to the next level, and all the other linguistic gymnastics the media uses every year to keep talented White football players from playing and starring at taboo positions.
