Hey guys, I was assigned a paper for college comp class, and i having been throwing around the idea of doing the report on discrimination of white athletes. What i would like to know is where you guys find the statistics on the athletes (40 times, height, weight).

This topic has come up before and has gotten mixed results and feedback from posters here.
The general feeling seems to be that you need to decide whether or not your professor is willing to approach your paper with an open mind. Many professors are intense liberals (I can attest to that, I assure you.) and will not even consider fielding such an idea. My own Composition professor essentially shot down such an idea that I offered to her last semester.
If everything falls into place, I can only commend you for undertaking this paper
I think this compilation of articles, courtesy of ToughJ.Riggins, jaxvid and others will certainly help you for mainstream media references and information.
Perhaps one of our "scouting specialists" can provide you with a resource for raw numbers such as 40 times, height, wieight, et cetera like you mentioned. Good luck!

More specifically its a research paper, so i will only be giving facts and very little of my own opinion. My professor seems to be pretty open minded, either way it wouldn't affect my decision to do it. Anyways thank you for the link, the assignment isnt due until the end of the semester but its good to get a head start on it.

I think if you are going to do this paper since this is liberal academia after-all I would recommend making a brief white RB comparison to the old black QB discrimination situation. The professor may also be interested to know why there are basically no East Asians or Hispanic Mestizos (be careful, lol, that may be an UN PC term; not sure; it's so ridiculous you can't even keep up to date with this PC stuff anymore) in football. Depending on the length of the paper; it may be worth it to start out by briefly explaining why you are primarily focusing on the discrimination of WHITE football players; you could briefly mention that:
1. There are far fewer East Asians and still at this point far fewer Hispanic Mestizos in America.
2. East Asian families tend to instill a more academic focus in their children and fewer play football and in addition may prefer sports like tennis. Hispanics even in America are probably more passionate about baseball.
3. East Asians and Hispanics are typically a bit smaller in stature on average. So although they are very likely discriminated against it is nowhere near the level that of white football players in our 66% white country where whites are very passionate about football.
Also a tip: Professors don't like it when you contrast races significantly; although you will probably have to mention some differences (small white advantage in Squat lifting numbers or slight black advantage in 40 times): focus on similarities as a reason why the NFL is biased to have a 70% black league in a 13% black country. Also IMO the only position where elite speed is a very crucial component is CB. I mean just look at the top RB 40 times at the Combine this yr. and compare them to slow "FB" Jacob Hester.
My article on the homepage (Arguing the Caste System w/ Youtubers) gives a few good examples of media biases against white athletes (Although a bit off topic a great example is how journalists keep saying Heavyweight boxing is weak these days; it's now white dominated) or biased reactions of football fans; feel free to use my examples. Jimmy Chitwood's recent articles on Hillis and Kmic also have some great info.
Last: NFLdraftscout.com is the best source to get 40 times; because you can also find examples there of players who stand-out statistically who you may know are highly skilled from watching them being under-ranked.
You can use Rivals for this exact same purpose as well.
I would recommend maybe citing Tyler Gaffney as a prime example of Rivals stereotyping. Check his thread. He is somehow a FB when by all rationality should be a top ranked tailback. Joe Martinek of Rutgers is another example (NJ's all time leading rusher; good measurables) who was only recruited hard by Rutgers and Florida Atlantic and Rutgers made no promises he'd play HB. Jake Sharp wasn't recruited by any of the TOP PROGRAMS either and Mangino has stated he originally recruited him as a role player; which makes no sense considering his ability. Toby Gerhart's thread has an article where he talks about the POWER-BACK label and may give up football this year for baseball even though it's clearly his second best sport.
Unless this is a thesis: You will have to pick out certain areas to focus on. Good luck; and sorry for the rant; but hopefully I helped!
